Congratulations Saffagal, I'm glad it was a positive experience for you
Hope you got home over the weekend and are enjoying lots of babycuddles
We had a little babymoon over the weekend, 2 nights in London while DD had a little holiday at Grandma's house. Lovely to have a little break together and enjoy the calm before the storm  I'm definitely feeling heavily pregnant now, my ankles did not like me being on my feet all day!
I was a bit surprised to remember this morning that I'm 36 weeks today as the last few weeks seem to have rushed by. I expect time will slow to a crawl once I've finished work and am approaching 40 weeks! 2 weeks to go on Thursday, but I'm so fed up of everything now. Still got lots to finish off before I go though, so can't really take it that easy.
We had our home birth visit from my midwife on Friday before we went away, so we've now got the pool and the MWs birth pack etc, and she took a copy of my birth plan so it can be circulated to the CMW team who handle the home births. DH is feeling quite positive about it now, I think he's coming around to my way of thinking. I've got my final consultant appointment on Thursday, and DH has rearranged his working at home days so he can come with me for a bit of moral support, as I was pretty much shouted down at my last appointment for suggesting that I wanted a home birth, and that I didn't want to consent to their list of suggested interventions/conditions for VBAC mums. It was a pretty unpleasant experience, and I left feeling really angry and frustrated as I couldn't get a word in edgeways!Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

My advice on that one .. if they are not listening don't say a word, stand up and move towards the door... they shut up and ask what you are doing.. at that point you very politely say you did not come to be spoken to like a child or in a condescending manner and if they are not prepared to listen to you then you are not prepared to listen to them (sometimes it is necessary to add 'when you can hold a civil conversation and not try to bully and use scare tactics you to surrender to their wishes then they may call you to discuss it).. what they forget is they are providing you with a service, not you providing them with work.. they are supposed to support you and care for you and if they are badgering you they are causing you undue stress and emotional harm.
They chose to do that job if they cant handle it maybe they should reconsider
Do you see why I don't go appointments any more? I'd probably bop them on the nose with this one, I'm being a total dragon!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Luckily for me I'm well aware that I don't need the consultant's permission to book a home birth, or try for a VBAC. He was actually not too bad, it was the 2 hospital midwives who got their knickers in a twist. I only got the chance to mention it right at the end of my appointment, so there wasn't really time for me to go into the reading that I've done and make clear that I've understood the risks, especially as they weren't listening to a word I said  so I decided to pick my battles and discuss another day. Interestingly despite the hospital MW telling me that my community MW would be much more comfortable with me using the MLU, my community midwife didn't bat an eyelid when I asked about HB, and says they're doing more and more so-called "high-risk" home births in the last few years and the team are getting very experienced in them. :rotfl:
What I want from the appointment is to TELL them that I'm planning a home birth, but to get signed off to use the MLU if I change my mind and want to come in. As they're allowing access to the MLU all VBAC mums without other health conditions (according to my MW) I'm not expecting much of a fight, but a bit of back up won't go amiss either.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

Congrats Saffagal, I hope all is going well.
Been to visit my parents over the weekend, the long journeys are starting to get uncomfortable now so I don't think there will be any more, especially when there are no toilets in the last hour.
I've had a letter through for an appointment with the health visitor next week, does anyone know what they will do? I can't remember from the last time but it says it will take about an hour.0 -
Congratulations Saffa!
I had my GTT yesterday, all clear thankfully! I found out my midwife had wrote my blood type wrong in my notes at my 16 week appointment, which meant I hadn't had my anti-D injection, so had to have it yesterday! I was a bit annoyed because I know exactly what could happen if the twins had positive blood (my gran has negative blood, my mum is positive and nearly died at birth because of my gran's blood thinking my mum was an infection. She was induced two months early and had two full blood transfusions). At least I've had it now which is better than not!Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Good news on your GTT Lulu, and that they've caught on and you've had your first anti-D jab. One less thing to worry about.
8.5 days left at work for me, (as today is nearly over already, yay :j), and my to-do list is starting to get a bit smaller. I think I'll be working right up until the wire though, or I won't get everything done.
I had an occular migraine last night, it was really weird. I had a big flashing zigzag floating across my left eye for about 30 minutes, followed by a mild headache. Nothing like my normal migraines, which seem to go away when I'm pregnant. I was a bit worried it was the start of pre-eclampsia or something, but I've got no other symptoms so once my vision cleared I rang the delivery suite and they said it was probably just a migraine. They were happy for me to wait to have BP and urine checked until Thursday as I've got an appointment then anyway. Dr Google tells me it's very common in pregnancy, normally triggered by dehydration and low blood sugars. I was pretty hungry and thirsty at the time, so am putting it down to that.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

Oh wow, I am at the top of the list!!
Had a consultant appointment today, after a growth and fluid scan. Everything is ok, fluid back to normal after being slightly high and baby's growth slowing down. She is now an estimated 7lb14oz.
Induction date set for 29th Feb (as I am 43) but hoping labour will start naturally before then, as I want to labour and deliver in the birthing suite (purple walls, lava lamps, etc) rather than the delivery suite (MLU).
Also, I have had ocular migraines during pregnancy as well. The first one scared me as I thought it might be a sign of pre-eclampsia.0 -
Hope you manage to go naturally Pootle_3, I'm hoping the same (BMI means I'll be induced if I don't). Bought some raspberry leaf tea today and got my birthing ball out permanently now!
Littlemoog & Pootle_3 hope you don't have any more migraines, sound particularly scary. 8.5 days to go littlemoog, sounds good, hope it's not too stressful if you still have loads to do. I got all my paperwork completed yesterday for my 2nd job and have wed thurs and half day fri (leaving early for a growth scan) to go for my main job - excited and apprehensive at the same time! Finding it hard to hand over the control of my work baby lol.
My midwife appointment yesterday went well, baby is in a good position and heart rate is good.
Lulu that's fab on your GTT, what a relief. I have to say the constant checking of my bloods is quite frustrating! Especially when they are generally fine. Wish I'd been that 0.1 less on my test to avoid the whole faff.
Kroberts I asked about the HV at my last appointment and was told they now don't visit until the baby is born. Must be a new thing as the midwife at our antenatal class said they would visit us before 35weeks, obviously old advice.0
