My outlaws just think I am a peasant lol.. I guess with their nice cushy middle class upbringing I probably am.. but.. they are many things I am proud I am not.

Lemon good luck with choosing the sex of a baby already conceived.. no pressure there haha!

I'm expecting a LOT of boy pressure from the outlaws too.. like it is even possible to pick and choose.. I did say OH is just a big woman and has no Y chromosome so it is impossible for us to have a boy ;) .. I'd love it to be a boy so OH has a son as he only has the 3 girls and we are not having more so it is his last chance unless he gets himself a better offer.

My family are all from the UK so it is just social class issues I have to put up with.. I just find it really sad they can't just accept the partners of their adult offspring .. why risk losing a relationship with your own child because you dislike their partner? it seems very childish and sad.

Wow, I'm really lucky with my inlaws. I'm a foreigner, but get on really well with most of them; just one sister I really don't get on with but out of 8 sister-in-law's and 5 brother-in-laws there has to be at least one! My mother-in-law contacts me rather than dh if she needs any info/wants anything from us.
They are currently running a mini lottery on what sex baby is :rotfl:

I still don't have a date for my section; am 38 weeks tomorrow and finding it really stressful not having a date - almost like they are trying to force me to try a vbac and possibly end up with another emergency section which I'm desperate to avoid. Am considering making a complaint through PALS, especially as have phoned twice today and they didn't even have the courtesy to return a call even if only to say they still haven't arranged it. Will ring again in the morning and give them till lunchtime to return a call I think. :(

I know baby could decide to come anytime, and I have a contingency for that, but my anxiety about being forced into a possible failed vbac would be so much better managed with a date.

Saffa.. is the hospital close enough that you could go in and refuse to leave until someone has sorted it for you? If I felt that strongly about it I would be staging a sit in until someone saw me.. I have done it before.. 3 hours I sat and refused to move until the consultant came to see me.. My OH as mortified and I just sat there and didn't move.

Pigpen, the hospital is 10 - 15min drive from mine so yes, not far at all. I think if I don't have a date by Tuesday I can definitely do that as dd will be in nursery. I don't think it fair to drag her with me as did last week when I saw them and after them not giving me a date nor having any pre-op appts available either this week or next, I refused to leave until I had had the pre-op. She was very good, but even so.

I have a community midwife appt on Monday so will speak with her then too.

I think I must be lucky with inlaws, don't get me wrong they can be annoying but we do all get on.

Saffagal - I hope you get your date soon

I had to have today off work, I don't know what's wrong but have just felt not right / generally unwell. A few stomach cramps, tired and bit of a headache. Hoping tomorrow is better after resting a bit today. Did manage to start on washing baby clothes though

Feeling a bit more normal but went to the doctors anyway who did some blood tests just in case, plus while I was there had the Whooping Cough vaccine
  • hey everyone

Had my 34 week midwife appointment yesterday and the student was there again, lucky for me it was the midwife I like and we all had a laugh about how I was stuck at DAU because of the over reaction of the older midwife at my last appointment.

So they struggled to figure out where the baby is lying, they think it's back to back and no where near engaged. The student very kindly gave me some info on back to back births and it turns out that it is commonly longer and more painful, thanks for that tit bit :) It also took the two of them 15 minutes to find the heartbeat because of the awkward position of baby, and when they did find it they lost it after about 2 seconds!!! The midwife decided that because she couldn't get any proper readings on baby that she would like me to go for another scan to get a proper measurement and the actual position, so i get to see the baby again on Monday.
She isn't worried that there are any problems with baby as I have lots of movement, it's just a confirmation on the data that they were struggling to get.

IF baby isn't head down engaged at my 36 week appointment she said we will have to have a "chat" about options as it could cause complications and she would rather it was engaged at that point. so that could be fun lol. I haven't even considered a section!
We talked about me having a water birth and she is more than happy that as long as i have a normal labour that I can have one as long as it's avaliable, yay :D
    hi :D

Yippeee!!! All my pestering has paid off - hospital rang and booked in next Friday morning. Mw who rang said they had done a big reshuffle and would it be convenient for me to come in on Friday for my section? Uh, yes! Definitely!

So need to pop in for bloods on Wed or Thurs but otherwise all sorted to meet baby in 1 week! Just hope baby co-operates and stays put until then.

Though I'm now having a "moment" feeling sad for DD as although she knows baby is coming soon, don't think she fully realises just how much her life will be changing and that she will be sharing me. Ag, hormones!
