Thank you. Due 29th June so I'm just about half way. Dewi is alright about it lol. I'm not sure how much he gets it tbh. He came to the 12 week scan and knows we got a picture of the baby. Though I'm not very big yet so he gets a bit confused. Sometimes thinks daddy is having a baby XD

8 weeks! Not long left at all. Started getting your bits ready? I'm so unorganised this time lol!

    Hi Bamama and Congratulations :)

People kept asking A if she was excited about the new baby, but it wasn't until Nov/Dec when she really started to realise and fully understand that actually there is a baby in mommy's tummy.

I'm now worried about her expectations of what baby is going to be able to do... I keep saying baby will only cry/sleep/feed initially but she's so excited to be a big sister and tells me how baby can have a sleepover in her big girl bed, she can "uppy" baby etc, which toys she can play with baby etc.

I feel a lot less organised this time, though am sure I have everything I need. It's just not necessarily ready for use - at the weekend I suddenly realised I haven't actually gotten a nappy bag ready... I have three, they're still in the same state they were in when I last used them for A - close on a year ago! Should really do that shouldn't I?

I'm sure she'll get the idea after a couple of days Saf. Just hope she doesn't try sharing her lunch when you're not looking XD

Launch some nappies in on top of your hospital bag and you'll be fine.

I'm gonna give cloth a go this time round. So I should really start ordering stuff! Think I've just been putting things off as we're finding out the sex this time. Don't really see the point in getting much before then.

I don't feel at all organised, we don't need to buy much, but we've still not agreed on birth preferences or any names! DD is excited, she talks to baby every day and is very determined that it's a girl. We have to keep reminding her it might be a boy ;) we've read a couple of books with her about a new baby, we particularly like "the new small person" by Lauren Child, its a fab story.

We used cloth nappies last time so just need to dig them out and put through the wash at some point. I guess I should start thinking about hospital/post birth bags etc.

Oh don't get me started on names. Since everyone found out all I've had us "are you going for another Welsh name?". I mean I'd love to but it's so hard to find one that is pronouncable outside of Wales XD Dewi has a hard enough time in Wales (and it's something I really thought us Welshies would know... he's our patron saint after all).

Got any hints/tips for cloth bumming?
  • Only seems to be a couple of us on the newborn thread so thought I'd come over here. Congrats banama, it's lovely all us first timers are second timers together. Both my boys are full of a cold ds1 us battling through Ds2 had me up all night holding him. Going to be a long day x

Haha, we're having the same arguments about boy names as we were 3 years ago, along with new arguments about girl names!

Not all nappies will suit all babies, so I wouldn't necessarily buy a whole set at first (although we did before Ellie and lucked out as they fit well!) A few websites do a trial pack of different types so you can see what you like (fillyourpants.com is one). You'll need roughly 20 nappies in each size to allow for washing every other day, and if you go for birth to potty (one size) rather than sized sets they may not fit for a few weeks after birth - we switched to them full time around 5 weeks, and it took a week or so to get them adjusted right so they didn't leak. If you did want to buy a set before baby arrives, I'd recommend little lambs 2 part nappies, lots of people I know have got on well with them, and they're a good mse option.

  • Hi Ladies and congrats to those whos little bundles have arrived.

No news for me, still just plodding on. Everyone thinks i'm going to have baby early and saying February 29th as the birth date which would be 37+4. I'm not so sure :undecided

I think I'm all sorted in regards to my hospital bag, just need some going home clothes for me and I think I've got pretty much everything off the list on this forum.

My nursery is all sorted and up, just got to get hubby to put the crib for our bedroom together and the house should be all done.

As bad as it sounds, I just want to feel normal again and for people to treat me like a normal person again, I'm fed up of everyone petty footing around me now....

Congrats to Frozen and Devildolly! Hope you're enjoying newborn cuddles :)

26+2 now and I feel huuuuuuuge! A couple of people in the street said to me on Saturday that I must be due in the next couple of weeks!

I've got *some* parts of a baby bag made now. It's just a couple of hats and a packet of wipes :rotfl:

I have the hospital bags packed, though I have purposefully "forgotten" a couple of items (cardi and blanket for the car) for baby that I can ask A to bring in to us. I've packed a bag for A too just in case; it's more for after once we're out and about again that I should get in gear just to make my life easier - doing any sorting/ packing is much simpler without a young helper!

Have the bednest being delivered today so OH dropped A at nursery and I've been batch cooking this morning. Slow cooker is busy, and should get three meals out of there and done another 4 already. Should do a few more especially for when OH is back at work but my back is aching so taking some "time out".

I think you're brave doing reusables - I don't think I'd manage to keep up with the laundry.

lol Lulu - that is a great start to your baby bag and you have to start somewhere!

me-charlotte, baby will come when it is ready. My boss was huge (she had polyhydramnios though it wasn't diagnosed until she was 37 weeks) but had to be induced as baby wasn't budging on his own!

MrsH, hope that ds1 will accept a dvd/beebies day today to make life a little easier for you today. Also hope that they don't share their colds with you.

lol Bamama, from nursery she knows babies have milk not food, but is finding it hard to accept that babies have milk from boobs not bottles even though I only stopped feeding her in May.

Littlemoog, they told us baby was a boy at our 20 week scan so we have the boys name from last time that we will use - it is the only one we agreed on last time and that hasn't changed. If they were wrong, baby may be nameless for a little while as OH won't even discuss girl's names with me as is sure it won't be wrong. DD keeps saying baby is a sister just like her - we keep saying baby may be a boy and she appears to have grasped that she may have a brother or a sister but insists the baby is a girl. I'm hoping this is just because all her nursery friends have baby sisters not brothers.
