    Hi Rinroo,

As littlemoog and euronorris have said, work can ask you to change your appt, however if they are aware of your pregnancy, you are legally allowed the time off to attend any antenatal appts that are made for you.

I think it is a little unreasonable of your work to request you to change this as hospital/scan appts are hard to get in the first place - and there is a time limit for the dating scan to enable screening testing if you're choosing to have it. If someone rang in sick work would have both of you off at the same time. Work just happens to have warning beforehand this time so can plan. Also, you won't be off all day... personally I wouldn't change a scan appt.

Saw mw this morning and as my bp has been creeping up seeing her again Monday. However, have the consultant clinic on Wednesday to get my section date; SO impatient to just know!

    Hi Ladies,

I've just popped in from the less than 12 weeks PG thread as I have a question I hope you can help me with.

I have my dating scan on Friday (29th) however my employer is asking me to change it, as another colleague from same department is off attending a funeral that day. Can they do this? I only got the appointment through Saturday morning.

If it was any other appointment I would change it, but these scans take so long to come through that I don't want to change it (being selfish!!) Also I have my bloods and antenatal appointment at the same time so I would have to change these too.

Just wondered where (if anywhere) I stand?

Give the hospital a ring and see if they can change it.. they might make it sooner if there is space. Or they may just make it a day or 2 later.. I changed mine from a Thursday to a Friday without any issue, still too late for nuchal scan but I already thought that was the case.

The NT has to be done before 14 weeks but they can still do the blood screening after that.

    Thank you for the advise.

I've just rang the hospital but the next appointment they can give me is the 9th Feb, but i'll be 14+4 then. I had a private ultrasound to date my pregnancy so I know my dates will only be a day or two out and I'll be too late to have the nuchal scan.

The hospital did say they can put me on a cancellation list but that's the best they can do and I don't want to do that.

I'll have to just bite bullet and tell them I can't change it.

That's a perfectly valid reason not to change it and therefore they cannot discriminate against you for refusing to change it.

Has anyone else had pain in or by pubic bone? I feel really bruised this week and a little painful but I am assuming it is the beginning of SPD?

I've not had it or know much about it but do vaguely remember it was mentioned in our early physio antenatal class as being comman. They gave exercises to try to ease it but I can't remember what they were, maybe Google?

My hips are very painful and the pain is moving across my pelvis. My midwife has said I can take paracetamol and if that doesn't take the edge off she'll refer me to physio.

Luckily for me it started playing up after she checked their heartbeats on Monday and I couldn't get off the bench :rotfl: that's a good way to show her how bad it is!

I had terrible PGP with the last 3.. I couldn't even sit on the loo without intense pain.. and getting upstairs to go in the first place took ages.

I was on crutches by 14 weeks with the last one which I'm not yet so doing much better this time thankfully!

I had 3-4 physio referrals with each of mine and only had 1 appointment.. and that was only because the MW rang the physio's personal mobile and got an appointment the referrals were 'never received' .. 10 of them.. someone lies methinks!!

I have a very stylish support belt a set of crutches and strict instructions to do nothing

She suggested sitting on the ball rather than a chair.. sat me on it.. and I fell off.. several times.. that was advised against.. and it was incredibly painful.

My hips have been so bad for the last 6 years I have been unable to have a bath because I can't get in it and I can only shower when we go to the outlaws (3-4 times a year) because they have a walk in shower.

    Hi ladies,

kroberts - that does sound like spd/pgp starting. Keep your legs together when turning, use a "step to" gait up/down the stairs rather than reciprocal are the main things that can help to keep it in check.

I had it quite badly last time, as I work with physios and so already had asked their opinion, spoke with mw who recommended an osteo specialising in pregnant women's issues. Saw him 3 times and had a vast improvement! Have had it again mildly this time though it only started much later and haven't needed to see the osteo again. It is really only the past couple of weeks that it's been an issue when getting up from the floor after playing with dd. I can only manage a half hr on the floor now.

I'm really, really annoyed today! Had my consultant appt to get my section date. I'm consultant led due to a medical condition - have had three appts, seen 3 different ppl, none of them the actual consultant. I have said from the very outset I want a planned section so today the woman says I'll just check baby then we'll discuss mode of delivery - uh NO, we'll book section date as if you bother reading my notes you'll see that was decided around 10 weeks pregnant!

But, my hospital only do 3 electives a day, between 39+0 and 40+0 and those dates are all already fully booked. Oh don't worry, there are two other women who also need to be booked in but can't be; maybe they'll do an extra list she says?! Frankly not my problem- sort it!

Then they say go book your pre-op for next Wed (as they only do clinics on a Wednesday). Oh, says reception, we're fully booked next week. So hospital midwife came out again and says, no problem, once we have your date for surgery, we'll call you in again. Uh no. I'm not leaving with no dates as have zero faith in the system getting me booked whilst I'm not there.
So she "fitted" me in for my pre-op assessment, gave me my script for the pre-op drugs and a blood form so once I have my date can pop in at my convenience to get the bloods done.
Highly annoyed and will be ringing first thing on Monday morning to chase them up as well as getting my community midwife to chase them on my behalf.

At least I had my two year old with me today so could say, and highlight, I need to know before to be able to arrange adequate childcare! (I am aware if baby decides to come before I need another plan for dd and have one but it means OH may end up missing the delivery stuck in traffic taking DD to the inlaws.)

And breathe.... this is certainly not helping my blood pressure remain stable!
