That's interesting pigpen- I had a similar experience with the lactulose, everyone I have mentioned it to said 'no way' and shot me down for saying I had a bad reaction to it!

where I am, they don't book electives before 36 weeks, but I know in some areas electives are booked anytime from 20 weeks on. Here they apparently don't do the theatre list that far in advance as need the staff rotas.

This is why I think 17 weeks is a bit early for this to be so. I already have some doubts about this person in all honesty. e.g. I mentioned about my 3d scan on Monday, and yesterday she magically produces her 3d scan image (I know this sounds mean, and could be coincidental).

Is this girl definitely pregnant lulu? Sounds like she might be a bit envious of you. Not sure why someone would make something like that up but suppose it takes all sorts in life.

It is basically a manufactured sugar and impossible to break down by a few people according to the A&E dr.. the same as some are lactose intolerant.

    Morning all :)
I had my first appointment with my new CMW today, we moved GPs when we moved house in November. She was so lovely, and spent ages with me going through notes and discussing birth options. I feel much better about booking a home birth having spoken to her, now I just need to convince DH that it's the right thing ;) She did also say that it's very unusual for both rooms in the midwife led suite to be occupied, so that's quite reassuring too. I'm seeing her again in 2 weeks, and we need to have come to a decision by then, as home birth visits are normally done around 36 weeks. We watched a lovely video of a home birth at our hypnobirthing class last night, I think DH was quite impressed.

Thanks LittleMoog - I'll give the circles and figure of 8's a go, see if it does anything :) Yup, apparently she's in the perfect position for birth, just not particularly low!
Well, she's got til 31st Jan to get herself shifted towards the exit door - as that's the day I'll get pulled into the hospital to discuss induction, not a route I'd like to go down if at all possible.

I'll keep you all updated if there's any news! xx

Just bear in mind that they will offer you induction, but they may not mention the other option, which is to wait for labour to start naturally with extra monitoring to check on baby. They tend to be very keen on talking about the risks of going past 42w, but I was never told the risks of induction, and the higher likelihood of interventions. I wish I'd been told about that before my first induction, although I was so desperate for her to come by then I might have accepted induction anyway.

Fingers crossed you won't need to even have the conversation with them :)

  • So just got back from triage. Midwife appointment started well, then went a bit downhill. Firstly she wouldn't/couldn't do a sweep because I am high risk and they won't do one in hospital because the consultant didn't say so in my notes (because he was on the phone to someone else at the time) She phones triage and they wouldn't do one or try to get a consultant to say yes, so gutted about that. Then she felt ghe babys position and could only get a heartbeat right at the top of my bump and suspected baby might be breach. Rushed to triage for a scan. Baby is not breach, but head down which was a relief as I was freaking out a bit about having a c-sec without much warning. Put on the monitor and I think they forgot about me as was on it for over an hour! Got a numb bum, and definitely made my mind up re monitoring during labour. I couldn't stay like that for longer than an hour.

So lots of excitement but none of it very productive. No baby, no signs of labour, no sweep. Boo!

Got induction booked for 31st. Really hope baby is here soon as I can't mentally get my head around having a Feb baby, stupid as it sounds.

    Hope everyone is doing ok.

Devildolly5 hope things happen naturally soon for you. I understand what you mean about a different month but if it happens it's not the end of the world although it may feel very demoralising. It must be tough.

Glad to hear your appointment went well Littlemoog. Hope your OH is supportive of your decision.

I'm starting to realise what I'm missing out on not being allowed in the midwife led suite. Does anyone know if the other areas have birthing balls? Really want to be mobile and use a birthing ball, don't want to be tied to a bed! Think I'll start writing notes on my birthing plan tonight.

You can take your own birthing ball in if you want.. though most units have them anyway. There is no midwife led unit here.. there is just the one horrid dirty cattle market.. there are the 'high risk' rooms, 'low risk' rooms', 'out of the way rooms' for those whose babies might not make it or have already passed so they don't have to hear the other newborns crying. and the recovery room with 4 beds.. oh.. and 1 pool room.. no bar sadly ;)

They have a supply of balls they roll between rooms. My daughter was in a high risk room and had a ball for the first few hours.
