  • So just been for my 31 week midwife appointment. Didn't see the usual girl but saw an older woman who seemed very blunt and has insisted I go to DAU tonight for a check up as when asked if movement was normal i said baby had been a little quieter than normal (though I can feel baby moving about now like normal). the student midwife with her found the heartbeat and it took the student to explain to me why i was being sent to the hospital!! I want my normal midwife back please, she's nicer!!

So my question is, what should i expect tonight at the hospital DAU, is it just scans/ bloods, I dont know what i'm really going for??
    hi :D

    Hi ladies,

Just to update, I finally had my baby on Saturday 9th January 2016 (due date was 29th December!!).

He was a hefty 8lbs 11.5oz and is totally totally gorgeous, I am SO in love it's unreal.

Had a hard time birth wise, but baby is here safely so that is all that matters.

Goo luck toe everyone still waiting :)

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.
  • Congrats hieveryone. So pleased for you. Hope your both keeping well.

Still here..... but working on that!
  • congrats hieveryone

Was put on a monitor for about a hour and half in DAU las night as per the request of the midwife, so basically sat listening to the heartbeat for that time. turns out everything is absolutely fine as i knew it would be. the midwife at the hospital said if i don't think theres a problem then don't mention anything to the local midwife as she obviously over reacted, but as others have said, better to be safe than sorry.
    hi :D

Glad to hear all was ok. Midwives do like to be cautious I think x

    Morning all :)
Massive congratulations hieveryone! Sorry to hear it didn't go as smoothly as it might have done, glad you're both safe and well though.

me-charlotte, always best to get checked out if you have concerns over movements, but does sound like the MW was perhaps being a bit over-cautious. My friend was recently induced for multiple episodes of reduced movements (3 is the cut off here), but at least one was when the MW asked if baby had been moving as normal, but she couldn't remember!

I had my consultant appointment yesterday, thyroid all good, and obs consultant said he'd see me again at 36 weeks to "ok" me for a VBAC. I then said I'd like to discuss birth preferences in advance of that as I'm considering home birth and have some concerns about the advised policies for VBAC mums. At that point the 2 midwives and the obs consultant all started talking at once, over each other and me, it made me really cross. I'm going to discuss with my MW next week and perhaps request a meeting with SOM and the home birth team to go through my birth plan and agree them before I see the consultant clinic again. I really object to being talked over and down to as if I'm incapable of understanding risk and doing my own research, I was absolutely fuming all day yesterday!
