Thank you! It's so exciting getting all your things ready and organised :)

In a way I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll end up getting induced which I was hoping would 'relax' my brain enough to let go and allow baby to come, instead of counting down to a specific day, but no such luck :rotfl:

Im sure when baby is here and crying all night I'll be wishing for these days of peace in front of the telly!

Try not to worry too much, most babies come after 41 weeks :) Baby will trigger labour when they're ready, I don't think you worrying about it will really affect it. I know it's really frustrating though, I went to 42+0 with my DD and I was going a bit mad towards the end.

This time I'm trying not to think about the 40w EDD, as I know it might not be accurate for me, perhaps my babies just need longer to cook! DD was 8lb exactly at 42 weeks and showed no signs of being an "overdue" baby. It would be much better to have a due month/range of some sort so there isn't so much pressure around the magic 40w date! I'm focusing on Easter
as I'll be 42+0 on Easter Monday, so baby will hopefully arrive around then latest.

  • Congratulations Rambosmum! I also had the retained placenta, was gutted as all natural up until that part after having forceps with my first.

In regards to induction, I was induced this time around. Tablet was inserted at 10.15am on 21st Dec and contractions started soon after. I found the insertion painful as I have a tilted cervix, but midwife managed to do it. I was then left to labour the rest of the day and contractions still consistent. They mentioned something about giving me another tablet the next morning if I hadn't started established by then as I didn't want another internal and really didn't want them to break my waters.
Had a bath and got ready for bed, laid down for a little while then needed a wee so got up and waters went all over bed and floor! Went into toilet and couldn't wee so midwife said baby is coming and got me in delivery suite.
My labour is listed as 6 hours 2 minutes, but I was contracting all day. I think they did it from when my waters went. 1st stage was 2 hours 45 mins and 2nd stage 3 hours 17 mins. I had a 2nd degree tear, which has healed a lot easier than the 3rd degree I had with my son, and have been able to stay active.

I think without induction my little one would have stayed in possibly until today, so would have needed to be induced anyway!
  • Congratulations rambosmum! Fingers crossed you manage to get some sleep over the next few days :) xx

(and worryingly, devildolly & TopQuark, you two and myself are joint second on the list!)

    Morning all :)
I'm feeling pretty rough this week, baby's movements have become very strong, and I'd developed dreadful reflux. I had it with DD and my MC from about 7 weeks so I've done well to avoid it so far I guess! GP on Friday to get some meds for it, but in the meantime I'm sleeping on a mountain of pillows and avoiding leaning over etc. I think I've had a whole bottle of Gaviscon since Sunday! My DD is being a bit of a pain as well, as expected for a 3 year old! Everything we need her to do is a battle which is exhausting. Hopefully she'll chill out a bit after a week at nursery, she's normally quite easy going.

    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
Littlemoog hope things have calmed down with DD and you're feeling a bit better. I'm knackered, started back at work (27 working days until mat leave!! Woo hoo) well, a few more if you add my 2nd job but it's not so tiring. Really dont know how im going to last out, my back was so sore after one day back. I dont want to go off sick because they'll put me on maternity a week early so will really try to last out! I've got an extra hour onto my commute since moving to the new house so not enjoying the earlier mornings! I've forgotten to bring my blood testing kit to work, argh. Will need to just test tonight's sugars which is annoying.
