  • Good luck Rambosmum, I hope the placenta has moved for you.

DevilDolly, I'd look on local FB groups for a second hand baby bath. I got one for £4 which was nearly brand new and comes with a top and tail bowl too. They are worth it as baby is too small to be bathed in main bath, unless you use a sink, which is fiddly.

So I am 35+2 and have 2 days left at work until my maternity leave. So ready as so tired. My husband said last night my eyes were black, which was lovely of him  But yeah the tiredness and heartburn is increasing.

I have my own hospital bag done and will do baby's bag this weekend now I have washed and dried everything I need for it. I put my Pink Lining changing bag in the washing machine on a hand wash, and thankfully it has come out nice and clean.

Bad news is my mother in law is in hospital. She has some sort of hernia affecting her stomach as she has been getting acid and not able to eat for a while, but it has now got worse and she has got dehydrated as not able to keep fluids down. Also she has lost so much weight. We also found out she found a lump under her arm 3 weeks ago :( She only just told my father in law. We are worried as she had breast cancer a few years ago.

Knock on effect as well as the worry of her being ill, is my husband may not be with me at the birth or at least partial :( As our son and dog need looking after and I don't think we can ask my father in law to do it on his own. I am getting quiet anxious about it as really want him with me. My mum lives too far away and tbh wouldn't be helpful either with my birth or with looking after DS and our dog. I am just hoping MiL is OK and can come home soon.

Oh, diamond orchid, that's awful. I hope MIL is better soon. Have you no good friends or other relatives who could step in in an emergency? I know I'd do it for any of my friends.
  • diamond orchid hope you manage to get someone to help.
Your post sounded like i could have written it, my mil is having a hernia op on Tues, ive been panicking because she looks after ds when i work, but luckily her op has fallen on my last day and my mum will have him.
Also i put my pink lining bag in the wash and it does look lovely now! Was a bit worried, but then decided i didnt want to carry it around for a year and a half as it was and if it didnt clean up i might have considered a new one :)

rambosmum what time is your appointment?

    Welcome mummymelxx

Appointment is 9am - so not long to wait. TBH I'm not fussed about the prospect of a section, I know my placenta is posteria and I'd rather have a planned section than an emergency one or an assisted labor, which is highly likely given my family history.

    Welcome mummymel and pootle.

Hope that your scan goes well Rambosmum; at least it is another chance to see bubs. I've a growth scan next Wednesday and can't wait to see bubs again.

I agree - I would MUCH rather have a planned section than another emergency one which is why my choice is a planned section. My mw thinks it is a ridiculous waste of resources that the consultant is insisting that I attend a birth choices appt. I think it is a waste of time too but if that is what it takes to get my planned section, I'll go.

I have 16 days of work left... can't wait! I have taken on my last new patient and am now just delegating all my referrals and finishing off my open cases. I have project work to continue with once my patient's are all closed off. 16 days is very little time indeed, especially considering come Dec, I only have 2 full days of work, the rest are all half days.

I've had it in my head that LO would go to nursery the day I have my section; that way I don't need to worry about her, she is safe and settled and OH has until 6pm before he would need to get her. He thinks she'll be spending the day with his parents (who live the other side of the hospital; in traffic it can take up to 40min to get from the hospital to theirs). I would then be worrying about her as she's only spent 3 times with them on her own and none for more than a few hours.

Re a baby bath - look on freecycle too. I found mine invaluable (was actually given 2 so kept one and gave the other away on freecycle) as it was much smaller to contain baby so used less water and I felt was safer. I could also place it on the chest of drawers in her room so didn't have to bend over the bath whilst recovering from my section.

So placenta has moved, yay. I got a really good luck at baby- yawning and sucking thumbs! Very cute. Baby has hair! The sonographer was really lovely but gave me too good of a look for someone supposedly team yellow! Don't know whether to tell OH what I've seen or not!
  • That's good news rambosmum. Did you mention you were team yellow before the scan. Not sure either what I would do in your situation. Knowing me, I would probably keep subconsciously referring to baby as he/she from now on. :)

Diamond orchid, really hope your MIL gets the care she needs and is home soon.

Thanks for the tips re facebook and ebay for a bath. I'll have a look today.

Back to work now with baby kicking my ribs...ouch.....
  • rambosmum glad the placenta has moved :)
I dont know what id do if they showed me whether i was team pink/blue!

When i had dd, i had a scan the day before having my caesarean, and the consultant told me it was a girl!!
Still here..... but working on that!
