I haven't seen the HV yet and will avoid it as long as I can  Last time one made me cry as I was finding it hard to breast feed, another told me off for going shopping two days after having DS, to Mothercare to buy him some clothes as he didn't have any to fit! She said I should stay in bed!!
So I am not overly keen on HV, I think they just want to come over and judge you.
Anyway I found an old post of mine which said my son was on 91st centile at 6 months. He's the tallest in his class at school
Been getting some sharp pains down below, I remember this from last time and think it may be baby's head engaging. Really hurts though, especially combined with a full bladder!
I am pleased I managed to repair my changing bag, so saved myself some £'s there
Good luck bellola on your consultant appointment, you must be exhausted with two toddlers. One 4 year old is tiring enough.0 -
diamondorchid aw 91st centile, i love chubby babies!! ds was 6lb 15 and had legs like a little bird!! not expecting much more this time because im already two weeks behind in measurements!
Ive never had trouble with my hv,but tbh i probably wouldnt notice if she was being critical, as long as were happy and healthy she can keep her opinion tbh. Lol. Went to the midwife on thurs and she said baby is head down, and ive been getting the same pressure feelings.
Well done fixing the changing bag, i had to fight the urge to buy a new one. Couldnt justify it anyway really. Ive also picked up the free one again from b00t5 for dh as ive got a pink lining one with cakes, and its not that manly :rotfl:
Woke up with a nose bleed this morning, and im a bit worried its to do with my low platelets now
I hope it doesnt come back!! Still here..... but working on that!0 -
Littleskintdragon, hope that you've had no more nosebleeds.
In my area, the HV doesn't get in touch until after baby is born. I did not get on with ours - she came for the first visit, was here about an hour and asked a load of irrelevant questions (including does baby have an ASBO (baby was 11days old!!!) and asked me three times how many people were living in my house (only OH, me and baby!). She did visit me once weekly until 6 weeks thereafter only as I couldn't drive yet and LO was slow to gain weight initially. Once I could drive, I always attended the baby clinic and tried to see someone else.
I feel that we had such a productive weekend; OH moved the computer stuff out of what will become our daughter's bedroom (so baby can go into the little room) and I put the cupboard up so really feel as though I have made a start now. I also booked a bednest to be delivered end of Jan for baby to use initially - decided to rent one as currently on special for £69 for 6 - 7 months rental (including new mattress, sheets and sides). If I bought a co-sleeper cannot guarantee what I'd get for selling it on after and haven't found any for less than £150 to buy.
Hope everyone is having a good week0 -
Same here - the HV visited AFTER baby born in the area I used to live, but for some reason, here they come over before.
The last HV was also slightly deaf so kept shouting and startling DS. I know that's not her fault, but perhaps not ideal. It was funny when he weed on her scales though :rotfl:
Got my 34 week scan today, will report back later with outcome.0 -

Good luck with the scan, got one myself next week - only 32 weeks though.
Downstairs is so close to being finished. Just last few little jobs to do then I get on to the fun stuff of dressing it and we can move on to upstairs! Can't wait for it all to be done.
I've got a proper little wriggler in me, everyone thinks it's a girl. Only 10 or so weeks until we find out, can't believe it, it is going so Christmas.
I'm not thinking about HVs yet, from the sounds of it I don't want to either! I have a tour of the maternity unit on Sunday and start NCT classes in two weeks. It is all starting to feel very real now.
On a different (and some what gross note) this morning getting out of bed I stepped on a severed mouse head the cat had lovingly left for me. I'm not ashamed to say that I screeched and hopped around going 'get it off me, get it off me'!0 -
Eww rambosumum. Thats gross, and something my cats would do. I have had the bottom half of a rabbit placed by my bed before. Yuk!
Good luck at the scan diamond orchid.
I think in our area the HV also visits before birth.
Had to visit triage this morning as hadn't felt baby move much the past few days. Had some monitoring and baby is fine. As I had a growth scan booked in for two weeks time, they scanned me there and then, which was great as OH was there (would be away for original scan date). Baby is huge apparently, measuring at over 95th centile and already over 4 pounds. OH is over 6 foot 6 so I am sure this has something to do with it, but again, not confident this is accurate. Baby is still head down, but with feet tucked in so this probably explains why movements are reduced.
Have another scan now booked in for 4 weeks time, so will see what they want to do after that.
Also, booked my wedding this morning. Woop! Woop!0 -
Had my consultant appointment yesterday, had swabs taken, BP done etc and given all the leaflets ready for my section. The date has been booked for 3 weeks today, the 1st December. A little later then I would have liked, 4 days before my due date, but my hospital only does planned sections on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays so we were restricted with dates. Fingers crossed baby girl doesn't want to come early. I am concerned about the pressure on my section scar and the previous rupture of my uterus. Will just have to be vigilant. I have been instructed to call the Labour Ward should I have any twinges. Also my BP has started creeping up as it always does at this stage of my pregnancies!0

Reading through my notes, DS was on the 99th centile when born at 11lbs
My scan went well. There was a trainee in there too so we had a longer look at baby. Her face was buried in my pelvis so couldn't really see her face, but saw her hair and lady bits :rotfl:
She is measuring quite big suddenly, on 90th centile. She is 6.6lbs currently  She's over the 90th centile and has really long legs
I have another scan at 38 weeks and if she is still getting big, they will induce me on my due date. Otherwise I'll be allowed to go natural.
The consultant made me laugh by saying I had easily had an 11lb baby naturally before so she will be easier. Haha, hardly call forceps easier :eek:0 -
diamindorchid 99th centile, must have been such a chubby little thing

Hope this one isnt bigger
bellola im so jealous youve had your date, i dont get mine until dec 10th, and im dying to know as its either going to be the week before xmas or the week between xmas and new year.
devildolly congratulations on the wedding booking
and glad baby was ok when you went for monitoring.
The hv doesnt contact you here until after the birth, although, she was in my house a couple of weeks ago for ds's two year check. She's quite nice actually, but she did say that we need to keep an eye on his 's' as he lisps it at the moment, but he'd only started talking a month or two before so im not going to worry quite yet!!
Went to see the mw this week, routine apt, she told me my iron levels are low and we need to keep an eye on it. My platelets are also low, it seems my blood is giving up on me!! So i went to aldeee yesterday and bought lots of meats, and green veg. My diet is not doing me any favours, so i need to start looking after myself. Ive got another blood test to check it in three weeks, so until them im on steak and broccoli (i hate broccoli, but needs must!!)Still here..... but working on that!0 -

Funnily enough, he wasn't that chubby
He was just really, really long. DD will be long too it seems. If she carries on growing at the same rate, she will be around 9lb when born which is fine
It's weird to think that the weight she is now, is the same as some full term babies are born at :cool:0
