Oh no, 10th Dec feels like forever away!

I know, once I have him in my arms I'm sure I'll forget all this, I just don't want them delivering early unless they feel it's absolutely necessary. I think it increases the risk of him being small, needing extra care and having to stay in hospital. But ultimately I'm sure we'll accept their recommendations.
  • Snowball - As littleskintdragon says, as long as baby is still growing that's what matters. Scans and measuring fundal height are not very accurate in measuring baby's size, and you hear all sorts of things about 10 pound babies coming out at 7, but agree that this doesn't help when the consultant is the one making the recommendation, and lets be honest, they probably know more about these kind of things! All the centiles mean is that in a room of 100 babies, yours is the 10th smallest. Someone has to be the smallest and someone has to be the biggest though, that's the law of averages, so unless there was a concern for babies health, hopefully they will let nature run its course.

Saw the midwife this week. 29 weeks now. Baby is head down and everything measuring OK. GTT results came back negative which is good. Because I am classed as high risk due to my BMI, the MW has booked me in to see a consultant and am having a growth scan at the same time. Whilst I am looking forward to seeing the baby again, I am getting a bit annoyed at the OTT nature of all the appointments, purely because of BMI. I have had a trouble free pregnancy, no issues whatsoever, yet they don't take this into consideration. Still need to book the hospital tour. Am dreading it to be honest. All my appointments have been late as they often have to go out and get translators for the different women which then has a knock on effect elsewhere. It is also one of the busiest maternity units in the area (parking is actually impossible at any time of the day) because there are no other hospitals nearby with maternity units and a huge population increase recently so it does feel like a baby birthing factory. The staff are lovely though, but it just feels a little rushed and impersonal.

On the plus side, I only have 34 working days left, and still have 4 days holiday to take so not long now.

Haven't done anything else baby related. Still have some bits to buy but have some time yet.

When is everyone packing their hospital bags. No idea when to do it. I was thinking Christmas as baby is due 19th Jan but not sure if this is too early or late?

Any news MrsH? Hoping to hear some good news soon.

Hallo ladies, I'm 25 weeks today so moving up to the final thread.

Time seems to be going so fast at present! I keep thinking something is going to go wrong though as this pregnancy has been relatively easy thus far. I am under consultant again which I don't mind as it means extra scans - have the next one in 3 weeks!

I have 7 weeks of work left, though that equates to less than 21 days as I only do 2 and a half days a week, and the last three weeks will be half days. Looking forward to finishing to spend some bonus time with my daughter - just the two of us - before baby arrives.

Handed in notification to nursery yesterday to reduce her days whilst I'm off down to 1 and a half days. Hoping I've done all my sums right, which will mean I can cover this cost out of the childcare vouchers I have saved the past few months and that I'll be paid whilst on mat leave. It will certainly help when her free hours kick in next September!

Hope that everyone has a lovely day x
  • Hello saffa nice to see a name I recognise from last time :)

Must be nice to have extra scans ladies but like you say when you feel fine with everything else it may seem excessive sometimes

I'm 2 days over, had a sweep yesterday well attempted a sweep and I'm booked in again on Tuesday, knew it wasn't going to work yesterday because I've not had a twinge. Can't wait to meet my baby, really hope I don't go too long over. My hips are in agony. Just opening my legs yesterday for a sweep was bad, how on earth am I going to be able to give birth with my legs open.
Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!
  • Thanks devildolly! I got a bit of a second opinion from another midwife yesterday so I'm feeling much more relaxed about the induction now. But your 'babies in a room' example is exactly what DH keeps saying too.

I feel for you with the appointments though, I'm fed up of them and I've had a variety of issues (although I feel perfectly healthy & well). Mine is also a busy dept and parking is a nightmare, plus I'm usually there 3-4 hours, definitely the downside of being pregnant!

I'm still ticking things off my list for the hospital bags, ordered myself a nursing bra, a black nightie and some jogging bottoms this week, so when they arrive I'll start packing and getting properly organised. Already have maternity pads  and nappies in various sizes. May need to buy more baby clothes in 'tiny baby' size, depending on next growth scan. If he comes out an 8-9lb whopper, my consultant had better hide! :rotfl:

Ah MrsH, I was hoping we'd not heard from you cos it was all happening. I hope you're not waiting too much longer.

    Welcome Saffagal
  • I dunno, I seem to remember it being the 11th which was above average. My son was 11lb when he was born :D

I am hopefully this little one will be smaller, she is measuring gloriously average. But will find out more, hopefully, on Tuesday. Though they never know until baby is born. No one picked up on the fact I was carrying an 11lber - no wonder I needed forceps and an episiotomy. Despite this, I had a 3rd degree tear. I am hoping things are smoother this time.

Snow_ball, baby will be fine. Some people grow small babies, some average size, some huge! Believe me, the first two are preferable :o

I have got some bits for my hospital bag - miniature shampoos and washes etc. Also maternity pads and all that glamourous stuff :) I am chuffed I managed to repair the catch on my Pink Lining changing bag, so I can take that in for baby. I will take a duffle in for me.

9 working days to go - getting real now

    Hello all!

I joined this thread when I had my first baby, James, in November 2013 but I'm a bit late to the party this time! I'm currently 33 weeks' pregnant with my second, due on Christmas eve.

It's funny being pregnant again – I forget I'm pregnant half the time as I'm too busy looking after my little boy. The new baby is neglected already, poor thing! :o

Will have to have a read back over a few pages.

Hope everyone is feeling well! :)

    Hey all,

I am 36 weeks tomorrow and totally ready for baby to come! Very uncomfortable and exhausted with 2 toddlers as well! We have our consultant appointment on Monday when we should get our section date, I am hoping that it will be 3 weeks today at the very latest (I will be 39 weeks on the Saturday so am hoping they are able to do before rather than the Monday after!). Can't wait to have a date in my mind and know the end is in sight. Plus with Christmas being so close I want to make it special for the older 2. I may be delusional!

At my last MW appointment baby was most certainly not head down, she was either breech or oblique. I still feel like she is moving around a lot so will be interesting to see what position she is in on Monday. Not that it really matters due to the section but MW has recommended another scan to confirm position so that when it comes to the section everyone knows what the situation is.

Hate wishing time away but I can't wait!
  • locky my ds was born sept 13, so i must have been here he same time as you last time too! I feel exactly the same with this poor baby, it already has a hard time!! Especially when ds is trying to jump all over me :( im smdue a caesarean anytime in the week before or after xmas, depending on what the consultant says next month.

bellola i always fine it bizarre that they want to know babys position when your having a section. If i was having a natural birth it would be different.

diamondorchid it'll be in your book from the hv, 11lb's is huge well done you!! Ouch!

    mrsh wont be long :)

I havent packed my bag yet, although ive written a list. Im taking two bags, one for birth and one for after as i'll be in for a coupme of days. We'll keep the 2nd in the boot until babys born and then ill send dh out for it.
Still here..... but working on that!
