  • Welcome Littlemoog and sweetilemon, just added you to the list sweeti.

Sounds like a tough day snowball; hope that your 48hr stay goes well and you have some answers soon.

Had another busy weekend, but the ex-study is now almost ready for my LO to move into. OH just needs to decide where to keep his guitars. Want her settled in before Christmas to give a good length of time before baby arrives so she doesn't feel as though baby is usurping her place.

Hope that everyone has a good week. I've my next consultant appt on Wed preceded by a scan so hope that everything is going well and baby is growing as he should be.

  • How is everyone today.

Thinking of you snowball. Hope all goes well. You are in the best place and it sounds like they have a close eye on you, so fingers crossed all goes well.

Welcome littlemoog and sweetilemon, lovely to see you over here.

Not much to report here. Have another growth scan and consultant appt next week, as well as another midwife appointment. Going to ask about using the birth centre rather than the hospital.

Insomnia really kicking in now, didn't get to sleep until 4.30 yesterday, an hour before my alarm goes off:mad:. Still wake up around 3-4 and just drift in and out of sleep. Feel fine usually during the day, but then get that stinging eye feeling mid-afternoon and then I'm good for nothing.

Only a few more weeks until Christmas, and I cant wait.

NCT class was great fun. Some lovely people there who I hope to stay in contact with. Have the other class on Saturday and the breastfeeding one on Sunday.

Have got the hypnobirthing book and CD. Have listened to it a couple of times but OH always comes into the room and asks if I am OK, and so I keep getting distracted. Need to book a time in each day to do this. Not sure if it will work, but just trying to get relaxed has to be a good thing.

Also need to book the hospital tour.

I am really getting excited now. Cant wait until January to meet the little peanut. Just feels like time is dragging now.
  • Thanks everyone, I was in hospital a couple of nights last week and it was just really to keep an eye on my blood sugar levels after the 2nd dose of steroids. Diamond, I think because you can lose your waters gradually, they wanted to check that hadn't happened without me really realising it. Thankfully not, although that suggests that perhaps my placenta isn't working as well as it could.

I had another CGT yesterday and they said again that baby is perfectly happy and moving lots. I'm back tomorrow for another scan to check fluid and have a general look around, then to meet with the consultant again. I'm hoping to get a firmer date for delivery and as he's still breech and seems more than comfortable there, we'll be planning on the basis of a C-section.

As he's going to be here a little earlier than we'd expected we're full steam ahead with the planning now! I'm hoping to finish work a bit earlier and we're getting all the baby's stuff set up in his room. Organised everything for the hospital bags last night and the pram etc is being delivered on Saturday! I think by the start of next week, we'll be ready and I'm hoping to be home getting the house nice and clean for his homecoming. So so so excited!!! And, we got our xmas decorations out last night, we may not have time if we leave it much longer!

devildolly, it sounds like you're doing everything that I planned to do, I was really keen on a birth centre delivery and had started reading about hypnobirthing. I used to read it in the bath so I was already relaxed and less distracted.

Really ready to finish work now :o
  • Glad all is ok snowball, it's getting exciting now

I had to have midwives out last night as had a headache for 48 hours that wouldn't go away and felt awful. I googled and it said it could be pre-eclampsia, and I rang my normal midwife and she said to call the hospital.
My BP is fine, mild swelling on feet and baby moving well, so not pre-eclampsia thankfully! But some protein in urine so they think I may have a urine infection. Have dropped a sample off at surgery this morning. Had to wait while they served tea up and gathered around one woman on the phone  rude dragons

I'm pleased with myself as managed to pick up and assemble my crib myself  It looks great. I have put bedding in wash and had a good look at cot bumper I kept from last time and a lot grubbier than I remember :o May have to get a new one, well an eBay job. Also need a mobile

Still feeling tired but head is ok today so hoping it was just late pregnancy 'blergh' causing my headache before.

I got such a cute little sister baby grow in Mothercare - http://www.mothercare.com/Roll-Up-Roll-Up-Little-Sister-Bodysuit/LF2761,default,pd.html

Well done on getting the crib sorted yourself.

I didn't think they recommended bumpers anymore due to risk of suffocation? I've been given a lovely one but thought I couldn't use it.

I thought that was the current advice too, they restrict air flow, which may contribute to SIDS, and there have been a couple of dreadful tragedies where a baby has got tangled up and died :(.I think if you do use them it's recommended to remove them once baby is moving around as they can use them to climb out! We didn't use them with DD, and she never banged her head. Once she was more mobile I often found her with an arm or leg sticking through the bars but she didn't hurt herself, it just made her cross if I woke her up moving her or she woke up and realised she was stuck!

I've been away for work for a couple of days, so nice to have a whole bed to myself and be able to stretch out and hog all the pillows and covers :) DH was seriously in my way last night, though it's always nice to get home!

I had my 28 week consultant appt and scan this morning. Baby is growing so nicely they have cancelled my 34 week scan and I'll only be seeing them again at 36 weeks to get the date for my section.
Not so pleased to not have another scan as love the extra reassurance it gives me, but very pleased baby is doing well and that I also don't have to attend the birth options clinic anymore.

With dd I had a bumper in her cot - but it was entirely for show. It was up in her cot whilst she was in the moses basket, but when she went into the cot, the bumper was removed and it's never gone back on. Will do it for show again this time, as it made it look pretty (really it was just for me!)
