That's really frustrating DiamondOrchid. I hop you get to speak to someone quickly, hopefully they will be able to prescribe over the phone and you can get started soon.
Must be nice Saffa not having to do full days- I'm hoping to use some flexi to have shorted days as by 3pm I'm not fit for anything.
Treated myself to nails and eyebrows done today. I'm not very girly so it's unusual for me but I just fancied it, not been feeling very attractive recently and my skin is awful as well.
DO - we were lucky that we paid offour debts last year, only the mortgage now and a mattress on 0% credit card, but that'll be paid off before I go on mat leave.0 -
Hope you feel better soon Diamond Orchid. Could your midwife push things along for you?
I've still not heard back from my main employer at all so will contact them next week to ask about maternity. HR for my second job got back to say its "unlikely" I can claim SMP. I seem to have (just) hit the criteria so really hoping to still get it. It would mean I wouldn't need to go back to my second job so soon which would be a relief. They haven't processed this month's pay which has left me short and I have emailed to let HR know so that my maternity isn't based on a mistake.
Maternity pay is a scary thought, especially since we've just bought a house so our bills will have increase significantly. If I get maternity from both jobs it will be tight but ok, if not will need to use my savings and go back after 2/3 months for a few hours a week. My travel expenses to work will increase with our new house also. I'm sure the baby will be worth every penny though!0 -
Hi all - jumping over from the 12-24 week thread as I'm now 25+3. Due on 10th March with a baby boy, but as I'm diabetic will be induced at 38 weeks, so expecting him around 25th Feb.
Exciting weekend here - we ordered our pram and car seat yesterday. Furniture is all ordered and being delivered in two weeks time, so only got little bits & pieces like bedding and more clothes to buy. I'm also starting to think about my hospital bag, and getting some nighties/pyjamas. Can't quite work out how much bigger my belly will be at 38 weeks so what size to buy (planning on getting cheapo primark jobs rather than expensive proper maternity ones)... If I usually wear an 8, would at 12-14 be big enough to accommodate full-term bump or should I be looking at bigger?
Don't talk about maternity leave/pay! I'm being forced to take my head out of the sand on that tomorrow as have a sit-down planned with my business partner about what on earth we're going to do. It's a 2 person business and has just been us since we started it in 2011. If I was in 'normal' employment, I'd take 12 months off without a shadow of doubt, but I don't think it'll be fair on him to leave him with some sort of temp cover for that long (especially since he was planning on retiring in October 2016...). Then there's the question of pay whilst I'm off; do I just settle for SMP or should I expect the business to give me some kind of salary % as a 'benefit' too. Gaaaah! I'm so jealous of everyone saying they know exactly the date they will finish and how much they'll take home!0 -
Hi littlesnuggy! You sound very organised. I'm not really sure about the clothes, I lost weight before getting pregnant (about 1/2 dress sizes) and that's me pretty much just fitting in my old clothes now (due 14th march). Some are too tight. Suppose it depends on the fit.
The maternity sounds like a moral dilemma. It's time you'll never get back with LO although you need £ to survive! What about researching standard maternity in your field as if you were an employee working for a rival company? Can you start back doing work from home rather than at your work base maybe?0 -
Afternoon all
Welcome littlesnuggy :hello: I bought some maternity/feeding nighties with my first, but preloved off a FB selling page. I found them much more comfy that my normal PJs at the end, and wore them for a good few months after the birth as they had an internal shelf thing to hold breast pads in place so I didn't have to sleep in a bra (or wake up in a puddle!). As they tend not to get used for long they're often in good condition second hand
We've had a crazy weekend for my DD's third birthday, we went to the zoo on Friday which was lovely but chilly! Then we had a party for her with friends and family yesterday, our first time throwing a proper kid's birthday party. All went well, kids seemed to enjoy it. Knackered today, so just been chilling out at home while DD plays with all her new thingsfeeling the effects of being on my feet a lot though, loads of pain in my groin and top of legs. I think I'm developing SPD, though still quite manageable at the moment.

I got my results back and they came back normal. Which is good of course, but didn't explain the protein or my pains.
The last couple of days I've been having period pains and a lot of Braxton hicks. I think she is going down further in my pelvis. Looking forward to next Tuesday when we see her again, and I will be told whether they will induce me or not. I have a feeling she will come early. I didn't get Braxton hicks with my son, not painful ones anyway. And only got the period types cramps as labour was beginning. I haven't had much today though. Also an increase in discharge. It's so exciting to think she will be here soon.
Still waiting for my car seats from mamas and papas. I guess they must be a delay as the offer is on.
No news as yet on my mother in law. She is feeling better in herself, but after clearing the black stuff they discovered a mass in her stomach, so waiting on biopsy results.0 -
Diamond Orchid hope you figure out what's wrong soon. Hope its nothing. Could it just be growing pains? I've had period type pains on and off throughout and MW was not concerned unless with bleeding. Hope your MIL is ok.
Littlemoog I love the zoo! Glad LO had a good time - happy memories.0 -
Welcome littlesnuggy.
I have pregnancy rage today. I got hardly any sleep and I just want to go back to bed. But I'm in work and I really don't want to be. This last 12 days is really, really dragging!0 -
Nearly at the end of the road now! Was meant to be having my section tomorrow but it has been moved to Wednesday as there is a big strike tomorrow. I am 39+2 today so fingers crossed I don't go in to labour beforehand. Trying to get organised with housework and washing etc which is difficult with two toddlers, plus I am exhausted and suffering badly with carpal tunnel.
Tomorrow I have to go to the hospital to get my bloods done ready and I am also seeing my Midwife as I have had lots of blood pressure issues over the last couple of weeks. Then it's starvation from midnight then baby time!0 -
Eeek! Good luck Bellola. Looking forward to the BA. Wish you all the best with it.
I feel your pain rambosmum. Totally ready to just nest now, especially with Christmas coming.
Good news on your results DO. Hope the pains die down for you. Getting close now!
Good tip on the nighties Littlemoog. I actually wore one for the first time in about 20 years last night. Was saving it for the hospital but after the breastfeeding session at the NCT course, I realised they are not really practical, so thought what the hey. Soooo comfy!!!!
NCT course was fab. Met loads of lovely people. Really helpful, and highly recommend it if you can do it.
Got a grobag on sale in boots for £10, which I think is a bargain. Also need to get some moses basket sheets as I didn't realize until last night that it didn't come with any.
33 weeks tomorrow and my impatience is kicking in. Want the next 7 weeks to fly by as I cant wait to meet him/her now.0
