Awww auntie pickle your birth story made me cry. You did extremely well to get so far on the hormone drip , I made it to 4cm before I had an epidural on the drip.

Your comment about was it all worth it. I can totally see where you are coming from. We didn't start thinking about a second till my little guy was a year and then waited till he was nearly two before we started trying. Time does heal and you do forget to a certain degree.

In the future you might want to use the birth afterthoughts service, basically a midwife will talk you through what happened during labour can be a way of closure for some people. I had a birth afterthoughts session only a few weeks ago and I found it helpful. I contacted the supervisor of midwfies at my local hospital to organise this.

Just read this and thought it was quite interesting:

    http://undercovermidwife.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/paracetamol-and-labour.html?m=1

If for nothing else, that latent phase in labour isn't something that was even talked about in midwifery until very recently! I generally take stuff like this with a pinch of salt, but I'll probably be a bit more aware of being offered generic pills when labour starts up!

interesting - especially as I was having contractions for 9 days and was advised to take paracetamol!

I read it and thought of you A-P! I did wonder whether you'd been advised to take it. Sorry I didn't see it sooner!

It's not just pregnancy though, paracetamol and ibuprofen are the quick fixes to everything these days...

claire - I think it's symptomatic of the whole westernised approach to a lot of things - birth included - where the emphasis is on a more controlled, medicalised environment as a whole.

wendz - how lovely! hope you enjoy your last day!
