    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm another one with a dog (9 month old labradoodle puppy!) & not too worried about him but I know it'll be a big change. He's used to all the baby things now & doesn't bat an eyelid anymore when we play crying baby noises. Have packed a blanket in the hospital bag to wrap baby in that my mum can then take home to him to get used to smell.

Another tip I was given was to try & make sure he comes home first (he'll be staying with my mum) as else it's like you're sending him away then he comes back to this new thing in the house that takes up all his favourite peoples time & attention ! Thought that was quite interesting!

No news here - just another terrible night!

    Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker
After my night of lots of sleep , I've been up all last night, stirred at every little noise and between OH, cat,dog and the houses noises it was pretty constant. Had planned on going into work today but I won't be now.

It means I won't be back til Thursday and only in til Friday when it's my last day so feeling rubbish about that but there's no way I can work on no sleep and still not feeling 100% as I'll end up making mistakes and in my work a mistake is not good as it affects the customer more.

I'm excited about getting the carpet fitted
Tomorrow but also a bit apprehensive as there is a wardrobe that cannot be moved out the room due to the size of it so I'm hoping the fitters aren't grumpy about that- have moved everything else but this can't go!

Well this is a shock being up at this hour! First day back at work after my leave.

We have a 6 month old Springer Spaniel and she will love the baby I am sure. She has defiantly been more affectionate since I have had a bigger bump. She knows something's going on! She will be home anyway hopefully when we bring the baby so will do introductions.

I have been awake loads in the night baby has been moving about and I struggle to get comfortable now. I remember it well from DS now.

  • congrats Birdie & Smartcat!!! x
  • Much better sleep for me at last. I used a lavender sleep spray last night and drifted off listening to a relaxation app on my phone!
    Something worked!! :)
  • Yes Emz, sorry unless you're really quick, I will be queue jumping :p
I've got my section tomorrow morning. Was hoping to enjoy 2 last nights of good sleep ( well apart from the usual 3am wee). Unfortunately DD2 has come down with croup so I've had to nurse her through the night. Really hope she recovers soon as I'm worried at leaving her when I go into hospital. DH sleeps like a log and wouldn't hear her if she needed him during the night :( Croup can cause difficulty breathing during the night.

Mysecretalias - you can get crib sheets. I would have thought from most usual places but I got mine on Amazon. I bought flat sheets this time cos the elastic on the fitted ones sometimes shrinks in the wash

Smartcat - wow, a bit of a dramatic birth. Don't feel embarrassed about screaming. I think the midwife should be embarrassed for telling you off, she's supposed to be there to support you. Plus inductions are notorious for putting you right in at the deep end painwise. Anyway hopefully you can forget about that bit now and just enjoy your girl :)

Squirrel - lavender spray and relaxation app sounds lovely. Don't know whether anything will work for me tonight when I know I have to be in hosp for 6.45am.....

I'll update you all when I can but I can imagine needing a bit of recovery first. :)
  • I have a 4 year old Border Terrier - she is the tiniest thing! She is so soft and doesn't' have a bad bone in her body. I have no worries at all, however I know you can never ever trust a dog 100% around a baby so I will be very careful, especially the first few weeks, she is likely to have a sniff then go and find a ball to play with lol.

We have just got to be careful not to leave them out - they are after all still our fur babies :)

As someone else mentioned, I am a dog person - but I really don't like undisciplined dogs who jump up and don't seem to get told by their owners not too - really annoying!

Hope everyone is having a nice day :)

Congratulations smart cat I agree that the midwife should not have been telling you off how is that going to help?!

Ive recorded OBEM will be watching later with DH. I don't think I've ever missed an episode been watching for years!

So glad I'm not at work anymore I was up about 5 or 6 times last night with the pain and/or loo trips.
  • Well, I'm feeling slightly silly.

Last night at about 11pm I started getting a pain between my breasts and across the top of my bump. At this point it was painful but I was able to manage with it. However by 2am I was really hurting and I just didn't know what it was or what to do about it. There was no position I could get in to make myself comfortable to sleep it off.

In the end I got myself worked up with crying and tiredness that decided I was just going to ring the midwife and ask her about it. She took down my notes over the phone and said she didn't really know what it was and that I should ring Labour Suite at the hospital. Did and they asked me to go in to get checked out. Long story short and all types of tests and 4 hours later and we get told it is just a particularly painful case of heartburn. They also discovered I have a low platelet count (something to do with clotting) in my blood so need to be monitored with that.

So feeling extremely tired today and rather embarrassed. Husband is now also convinced I am going to end up going completely to pot during labour lol.
