I have my 28 week midwife appointment tomorrow too, are you having your whooping cough jab missy? I've got an appointment with the nurse after the midwife for mine.
My back & hips are still bad, had a few rubbish nights sleep, or lack of sleep so I'm feeling shattered now. Went back to work today after being off for a week in a hope of helping my back get better but it's worse if anything. I'll see what the midwife says tomorrow, got physio booked for next week but I don't know if anything will help now or if it's just one of those things!
Has anyone had any snow? Be careful out there if you have or I'm sure most places will be icy in the morning! Don't want anyone slipping!0 -
34 weeks today and I keep having this feeling that baby will be coming early. Not a feeling of doom or that something will go wrong, just that he will come early. Stay in there for at least 3-4 more weeks little one!
Ended up packing my back-up hospital bag tonight for the most part. Still have a few bits to stick in when I get them. Also need to pack my home birth box, but I'll be waiting until after my 36 week midwife appointment here at the house for that so that the midwife can help me gather the things I need.
Also finally making my cord ties tonight! Will need to boil them tomorrow and stick them in a bag in the freezer and stick a note onto the hospital bag and on the home birth box that tells where they are and to be sure to grab them.
It's all getting a bit too real now! :eek:0 -

georgie welcome to the thread!
missymoo I finally got weighed at my last MW appt and think I have gained around 1 st 10lbs which is probably average or maybe slightly over what I should have gained by now, oh well! Had active birth workshop last night and they advised to to go swimming for optimal baby positioning etc but that would require buying a maternity swimsuit, not sure if I can be bothered! Bet you are looking forward to your 4d scan
Princess kate decorating the baby room is so exciting and sounds like you're getting organised
Bubblepops and milly sorry to hear about the issues you've been having, I don't have any advice I'm afraid but hope everything is ok.
Mrs TM I have a feeling this baby will be late. I wonder if both of us will be right! :rotfl:
Sorry to people i've missed, going to try and post more often here i think.
I had a private doppler/growth scan last week which went well, everything fine and even got a 3d/4d (?) photo of baby's face which was niceI'm almost finishing packing the bags now just got a few niggly bits to get. Had active birth workshop yesterday, scary! Going to get a birthing ball to bounce on! Have breastfeeding workshop tomorrow, actually have a lot of questions so will be useful hopefully.
On the negative side my fingers are so stiff/swollen now (BP fine at last appt though) which is a pita. I miss my wedding ringsAnd my boss is getting in a stress about me leaving in 2 weeks.

:wave:Hello all,
Can I join again please? I'm 24weeks with a team yellow baby. Baby #4 for us - eek! Looking forward to getting to know you all and share my experiences with you.
Haven't done a thing for this baby yet. I have all DS's things so can use those but as he will be barely 18m when this one is due, clothing will be wrong season. Need to get a double pram too, any recommendations? I like the Bugaboo Donkey but will need to take out a mortgage to buy it, or the mountain buggy duet looks good also.
This thread seems really quiet compared to 14m ago when I was last on it - think there were 50 pregnant ladies on it then. Hope everyone is feeling well......last hurdle now. :T

Cord ties are plaits of usually embroidery floss (6 strands is a perfect size) that get tied around the cord instead of the hard plastic scratchy clamps. I made rainbow ones for our rainbow baby.
I crocheted mine instead of plaiting them, but either way works.
This is one of mine, but I did make a pair:0 -
Aargh, think this is a first for me but I feel the need to rant
Had my 28 week appointment today and all with baby is fine - head down at the moment but wriggling around plenty so not getting too comfy yet! Heartbeat strong, measuring slightly over (definitely Christmas calories) and had BP and bloods taken. All fine so far, but then the midwife asks me if I've been to any classes yet. Err no, actually, because you haven't told me about them, so she gives me the number and tells me to ring up. When I call the number, first off its incorrect. Irritating, but not a problem, I just phoned the antenatal clinic who gave me the correct one. I then get through to the right place and they tell me that they are fully booked throughout the whole of Jan, Feb and March! I explained that the midwife had only mentioned it today and she explained that these should have been booked months ago  She said she'll have a look to see if she can get me into classes in another area and she'll get back to me, but I've not heard back yet. I'm now looking at NCT classes and other alternatives. Not ideal as I would rather have the NHS ones instead of paying out, but I'm an information junkie and need to know everything so for me classes are a must.
I'm so frustrated because now I'm thinking about it, this isn't the first time my midwife has failed to tell me something. Princess, you asked about the whooping cough jab - I had to ask her about that today as she didn't say anything about it! I tried booking in with a nurse for the same day as my next appointment but typical there is a training session that afternoon, so I'm going in two weeks instead. She said it can be done up to 35 weeks so she may have told me at the next appointment, but surely it makes sense to have it on the same day when I'm in already, which requires it to be booked in advance.
Another thing I had to sort out myself because she hadn't read my notes was back when baby wouldn't co-operate at the 12 week scan for the nuchal test so I opted for the blood test. She didn't do it at the next appointment because she didn't check my notes and I unfortunately forgot to raise it, so I had to call her back up. She apologised and made me an appointment at the hospital on a Saturday, for me to then get there and say the bloods need to be processed within 24 hours and the lab isn't open on Sunday so they couldn't take them! That meant another appointment at the surgery and more time off work.
It's hard because she is lovely and always pleasant, but I just feel that if I didn't have this forum or if I wasn't proactive in finding things out then who knows how many things she will neglect to tell me or forget. I've also got a sheet in my notes that mentions key topics for discussion like bonding with baby, the importance of skin to skin contact, feeding etc and she's ticked them all off today but hasn't actually discussed them with me. I love being pregnant and I can't wait to meet baby, but I'm now just feeling a bit fed up and I'm actually not looking forward to the coming weeks/impending birth as I'm worried I've not been told enough. I'm so sorry, this has turned into a huge rant but DH isn't home yet and I need to get it all out0 -
Oh no missy. So sorry you're feeling like this, I can totally understand your frustration. Good job you have this forum & if we all mention what we're having done & when then at least no one should miss out on anything but I agree it shouldn't all be down to you to find out things yourself and to arrange them yourself.
Re the whooping cough jab, there is quite a window in which you can have it so don't worry too much about the risk although I totally get what you mean about time off work but you're entitled to it all so don't feel bad.
Have you looked into daisy birthing at all? They do weekly classes for mum & a couples day workshop. I'm sure something like that would make you feel more prepared and they're not as much money as NCT, although i think quite different.
Hope they get back to you tomorrow about other classes in your area so you're not left waiting & worrying.

Thanks Princess, I'm not feeling so wound up now, think I just needed to vent
Stupid hormones though, I almost cried on the phone when she told me they were fully booked!
I've emailed about NCT classes so should hear back about them soon, they're not actually as much as I thought for 6 sessions (and they start in 4 weeks so still have plenty of time) its still an expense I would rather I didn't have! Need to look into Daisy more, have heard a few bits and had a brief look but not too sure yet.
On the other hand, my friends are busy organising a baby shower for me so that has perked me up this evening writing out a list of who I want to inviteI was never a fan of them as I always saw them as too Americanised (nothing against Americans before anyone says!
) and have the impression that people see them as an opportunity to just get more things bought for you. I've also only been to one which wasn't great, but then I think there were too many people there and it just felt so impersonal, but I'm looking forward to my one now as my friends have definitely swayed me! Are any of you having a baby shower, and what are your thoughts on them?
