  • Can I ask a question, but I understand if people don't want to answer.

How much weight have you put on through your pregnancy so far? I've just weighed & I'm back to what I was when I found out I was pregnant, I lost 8 pounds in the beginning due to sickness & nausea. Some websites say up to 22 pound gain by now is normal, I'm already overweight so really didn't want to gain too much but I haven't consciously tried not to.
  • Morning everyone, been very quiet on here as things have got crazy with the wedding being just over 2 weeks away now so desperately trying to get bits finished off and organised in time!
Baby is kicking a lot more now and mainly at night so a lot less sleep, for me! Gtt test on 23rd :( n then midwife on 28th and they start measuring the growth at that appointment :)
Congratulations shorty :) hope everyone is well and keeping safe and warm in this awful icy weather xxx

Our fatbaby is head down and engaged - midwife yesterday wasn't sure we'd actually get to our eviction appointment on the 20th Jan. Have to say, I'd be most relieved as the diabetes is a real PITA - I have a new-found respect for those who have to juggle blood sugar readings and insulin injections/pills on a daily basis. They all seemed pretty relaxed about him making an earlier than anticipated appearance - he's a good size etc. so I'm not worried. Ran around like a headless chicken after the appointment to get the last bits - a mattress for the crib and a couple of nursing bras - but am feet up now.

On the downside, looks like he'll appear before the builders have finished... Doubt he'll care too deeply, but we're camping in a spare room with no curtains! I must investigate who's bright idea it was to move house into a building site the week before Christmas while heavily pregnant! :rotfl:

Princess Kate - I lost a lot of weight (nearly 2 stone - no idea how/why) early on in the pregnancy and am still 7kg lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, even with a hefty baby and bump. I was a bit overweight to start with though, so not overly concerned, especially as have been on funny diet (avoiding too many carbs esp) with the diabetes.

Trixie - good luck with the GTT. Go for a walk in between the two blood tests though - I was only just over their second reading and a bit of light exercise can help (rather than curling up in teh waiting room and having a snooze as I did!).

  • Always_Alone - you must have mixed feelings about having extra scans for a small baby. Is it nice getting to see the baby more - or does the reasoning take precedent?

Carrot - glad your NCT class seem a nice bunch. Is it all starting to feel really real now? It probably does especially with two cots! We had name choices picked from before we were married (er 15 years ago!!!) and they haven't really changed so that's a relief!

Missymoo - hooray for having no stretch marks!

Princess Kate - I lost 12lbs and was only petite to begin with. I'm now 26 weeks and am just about at pre-pregnancy weight. Baby/bump is measuring spot on though which is good.

Trixsie - Hope all your wedding plans are coming together nicely! Have you had a dress fitting recently? Boo about the GTT test, I've avoided that fortunately!

Fuzzipeg - Sorry you've had to deal with diabetes. I was bad enough after my operation having to inject anti-clotting stuff for a week!!!
What a pain with still having builders and things not finished! Is it really stressful or are you reasonably calm about it?

AFM, really fed up with the breathlessness and palpitations/ tachycardia. Several times this morning at work the nurses were saying "are you alright? you need to sit down" as I was kind of slumped over a desk or the photocopier etc! Not sure whether to wait until the scheduled blood tests at my 28 weeks midwife appointment or not - it's in 2 weeks. (GP said I might be anaemic which may be contributing towards things)

Hope everyone else is feeling fabulous and glowing ;):D:p

  • Congratulations Shorty! Stanley's really nice name :-)

Just a quick update from me - I'm on annual leave now this week and next week before my maternity leave starts in the third week of January. I know it's a bit early (I'm 29 weeks tomorrow) but I wanted to take it easier after having various health and pregnancy difficulties in the past. Although that said it hasn't been a very relaxing start to my maternity leave so far - I've organised builders to come in starting on Monday to convert part of our garage to a utility and cloak room :o I might be slightly crazy but we figured better to get it done before baby's here than after!

I've also did my GTT test on Monday and saw my midwife yesterday. I passed the GTT test but I do have low iron - boo! Iron upsets my existing digestive condition so I might have to have iron infusions, got to talk to my consultant about it on Monday. Everything else seems ok though, bump measuring to size now and heartbeat sounds good. Blood pressure and urine fine. I've not had any more bleeding since Boxing Day so that's two weeks ago now?!

I had a private scan on Saturday to get some nice 3D pics and a DVD of baby but little madam refused to cooperate and had her fists in front of her face most of the time! So we're going back there in two weeks.

She's also breech which makes it more difficult to get good images apparently. I asked my midwife if I should be doing anything to encourage her to move round but apparently she'll do it in her own time and the hospital won't be worried until 36 weeks. She also said baby's head is heavier than the rest of her body so gravity will naturally encourage her to turn which makes sense.

Always Alone - sorry you had a bit of a scare, but it sounds like your hospital are very on the ball with looking after your little one. My consultant mentioned me having steroid injections as I should be induced at 37 weeks but I don't know anything more than that, sorry.

Kate - I haven't weighed myself so I can't answer your question, sorry.

Carrot - nice to see you back :) my DH and I have just settled on a name this week and have been practising using on bump to get used to it. It's a name we've both liked for years so hopefully we won't change our minds! Having two names to choose though is double the pressure! The Mothercare app has a names bit and I think there's a Bounty names app too, if that helps.

I can't remember who was asking about hospital bags but I've had one for me ready for weeks as I'm paranoid about having to go in for monitoring and having nothing with me. I've just this week started one ready for baby too. I think the pressure of having builders coming in and needing to sort the house out in preparation has made me want to have that bag ready to hand too. I saw a great tip on Babycentre about bagging outfits up together then labelling the bags so your other half can find them easier so I've been doing that, but possibly I have a bit too much time on my hands now :o

Anyway, this quick update has turned into a long one but I've not posted much for a while so lots to catch up on. I should be better at posting now I'm off work. I hope everyone's feeling well and looking after themselves x

My BMI at booking was 51 (I'm short) and I weighed 293. As of this morning, I weighed 291. I had lost 30 pounds from my three stints in the hospital earlier on, so I've re-gained that (mostly fluid), and I'm still 2 pounds down. I did reach 303 about 3 weeks ago, but I was eating far too much salt. Cut down on that, and I'm back down again. Baby is just over 4 pounds, so is growing perfectly (I'm 33+3 today). Just eat as healthy as you can and try not to worry too much about it. You'll probably lose most of what you gain during pregnancy from chasing after little one and playing with them anyway. ;)

  • Hello everyone!

Sorry I've been AWOL the last couple of weeks, I've been really ill with a bad virus and saving my energy for decorating jobs. We did a LOT of prep work in the house over Xmas/new year which ended up a bigger job than originally thought (doesn't it always!) We are literally re-doing half the house and had to unexpectedly re-board a ceiling and replace part of the flooring! We have had to get some help in to get it finished in time (the decorators are downstairs papering the hallway right now) and I'm spending today -annual leave - tucked away in the bedroom partly to keep out the way and partly to try and shift this virus for good. I'm 35+2 today and also feel very silly for deciding to do major house renovations when I'm heavily pregnant but it's mostly going well so far. Should all be finished next week and carpet is being fitted the day before I'm 38 weeks so we'll be OK as long as I make it till then lol. It's definitely preferable getting it done now though rather than with a little one I reckon - I'd be really worried about them breathing in the dust and paint fumes. If we have time we might even get the nursery painted before baby is here but still need a wardrobe and curtains and things for in there but we have the Moses basket for our room and I'm planning on them being in with us for at least a few months.

I only have 3 days left in work next week and then a year off for mat leave! I'm really looking forward to it but it's also a bit scary! It makes it all seem real and I've been to work in the same place nearly every day for over 7 years so a year off does seem a bit daunting. I'm sure I'll have my hands full soon enough though!

Names wise we have a favourite boy and girl name picked (team yellow). They are both really popular names but I love them and picked my boys name about 5 years ago now when it wasn't so popular so it's staying! (as long as we don't change our mind once s/he is born).

Weight wise I've put on about 2 stone which I was quite happy with until I saw you have all put on much less! I wasn't overweight to begin with and had no sickness so that probably explains it and I think between 2-3 stone is about average which is where I'll be once baby is due.

I can't believe I'm second on the list - eeeek!!!!
  • Thanks for the kind words ladies, after a sleepless night i've come to the conclusion that what will be will be! I must also apologise after being AWOL for weeks and then coming back just to moan!

Aunty P - thank you for updating the lists :) in answer to your question, its bittersweet seeing bubs so often. I love seeing him but i'm now expecting the worst at each appointment, i'm sure all is well but there's always thats niggling doubt at the back of my mind!

Lovely to see you here again Tilly, make the most of free time, put your feet up and RELAX!!

Pricncess K, i don't think i've put a huge amount on, i think i'm mainly (a small) bump. I don't think i'm made to make big babies! I judge by my clothes and apart from a pair of work trousers and jeans in maternity clothes, i'm in normal stuff.

Apologies for the relatively short post, i'm sneakily posting from work and finish in 3 minutes so am on my way out!! Hope everyine has a nice relaxing weeking, i have my GTT and 28 week bloods to look forward to tomorrow! Joy!!
  • Fuzz I've been told no exercise at all in between, I'm literally only to sit and wait for the next test :(
Aunty I'm feeling the stress atm but with only 3 weeks to go and not getting paid till the day before the wedding that was bound to,happen. Luckily I have paid some of my credit card off so,have emergency cash just in case!

    Xxx
