  • Thanks for that, I'm def having the horse thing, which is just delightful! Going to have a day on the sofa I think!
  • Oooh, Shorty, fingers crossed for you!!!!

Milly - how strange for a sudden growth spurt! Hope everything is ok. It certainly sounds like you're getting your money's worth out of the NHS!! Hope your thyroid is ok - do you have any family history of thyroid issues? :(

Princess Kate - ouch for back and hip pain. This pregnancy lark isn't all "glowing mother earth" is it?! :rotfl:
I found sitting on my gym ball really comfy for hips and back - better posture too.
Braxton Hicks are weird. When I had my first I was completely freaked out and phoned the midwife not knowing what was going on!

Mrs_T_M - cute pic! Were you pleased to find out you were Team Blue? (ignore that if you don't want to answer!)
Sorry you've got SPD. I've had severe hip pain and groin pain and have been referred to physio. I'm hoping it doesn't develop further. My OH does laugh at me hobbling around like an old lady sometimes though!

    Apologies if I've forgotten anyone.

AFM, the roofer has just left after looking at the chimney because of the damp in the nursery. The whole chimney needs repointing and then he said "and I also found..." The felt lining underneath the (concrete) tiles is rotting so our joists / roof supports and fascia boards are at risk of becoming waterlogged and rotting away too! Great! Just what we need :( Had not anticipated that much expenditure on the house at this time. sigh. Sorry, mini rant over.

Oh well, first day (well, morning - I only work part-time) back at work today and the nurses were soooo pleased to see me back!!! :T So that was nice to know I'm appreciated!! :) I'm meeting with my line manager next week to see how I am and to go through my Maternity Leave application - which means I need to decide when to leave (can't decide! how am I supposed to know how I will be feeling then?!)

Yes, I was diagnosed 4.5 years ago with it when I was 23. My Dad and Grandma have it. My MIL also has it so baby's got a good chance of one day having it. It also meant I have a higher chance of getting gestational Diabetes even though I (was) only a size 8/10. Hopefully it is either too much cake over xmas or just a mild case I can control with further exercise. We shall see next week.

It is really difficult to decide leave dates. I really wasn't sure and people keep saying I may end up leaving before hand anyway. so far I've said I will leave 13th March which will make me 36+2. My boss has just arranged a handover meeting for 6 weeks time so I can pass my work across. That's really scary!!!!!! Since xmas so many things are starting to make this feel real that being in denial is becoming harder and harder

Shorty, hopefully your walk kicks baby into action! How do you feel about the prospect of you sharing your birthday with little one?

Timeflies, glad you're not too fussed that baby is taking its time - I reckon I'd be going mad by now! Have you tried any of the old wives tales that apparently kickstart labour? And I'm intrigued as to why you don't want an induction...?

Lotti - you seem very laidback about your impending arrival! Although you said you had everything ready at 25 weeks last time so I don't feel too bad that I want to pack a hospital bag yet at 26 weeks :p:) Perhaps its because you've done it before and so it won't be that much of a shock as it probably was last time, plus I could imagine you have lots of stuff already. Will be interested to hear if you manage to turn him round though, perhaps one thing that maybe isn't under your control! :p

As for my 'operation baby', yesterday I wrote up a list on the laptop which DH kindly offered to print at work so that we can take it with us when go shopping, but then I realised I quite like writing things out by hand so I've just finished doing that, being a little obsessive and putting things into categories like clothes, bathing etc and having a separate page for each - 5 pages in total! Although not each page is full :p Dinner is in the oven so whilst I'm waiting for that I think I'm going to go up and start seeing what I can check off, its all getting very exciting :)

Posting on here was definitely what I needed, I've now built the cot, packed my bags and washed all of babies clothes. Hopefully I'll find out he's turned when I go for my scan tomorrow.

shorty I hope everything goes to plan now with the induction.

T m I'm glad you're joining team blue, I was beginning to feel outnumbered xx

I am mostly just happy that baby is healthy, perfect, and head down, but it is really nice in just knowing what he is! Didn't care either way, just curious.

Stretches work for me for the most part, and rest for the spd. Not really much else that can be done for it!

  • Fingers crossed shorty!!! Timeflies and freshstart - any news from your end? Also Island.girl and alice31 who are both past due dates, although I don't think I've seen either post since I joined this thread?

Sorry to hear about those of you experiencing pain and discomfort - I have no idea if I've had Braxton Hicks or not :o Would I definitely be able to tell!?

The only main thing I've had causing me discomfort is when baby is in such a position that it feel he/she is going to crack a rib! Baby seems to get right under it and its such an odd feeling, slightly uncomfortable but nice to feel movement at the same time :p It's also quite odd when you feel movements both high and low at the same time, really goes to show how big baby is getting.

Glad all went well back at work today Aunty-Pickle. Have you got any ideas so far of when you are looking to leave? It's hard isn't it! I'm working right up to 39 weeks  Working in a school I wanted to time it to leave at the end of a half term, plus I also want more time after baby is here than before if I can manage it. I think the rule is that if you need to take a sick day in the weeks before your EDD (6 weeks I think, correct me if this is wrong) then your maternity leave will start then. So if worst comes to worst, I know that I can leave earlier if I feel it is all getting too much, but hopefully I'll be able to stick it out. School is busy before Easter!
  • Hi ladies, sorry I'm a bit rubbish at posting at the mo but I will properly in the next few days when I get a bit more time. I need to update the list and add myself when I'm on my laptop, but I also noticed from the FB group that Alice31 needs updating, she's the lady that had her baby on Christmas Day xx
  • I didn't realise they were Braxton hicks at 1st, thought it was the baby flipping round & stretching everything as it makes my whole tummy feel really tight but then they were mentioned in 1 of the weekly emails I got & I realised thats what they actually were.

Still not feeling great today so I'm going to stay off tomorrow too & try to see the gp, my midwife is in the surgery tomorrow too so might see if I could see her instead. Or am I only meant to see a midwife at this point?

I've updated the list - hope I've included everyone's updates!!! (You can guarantee it will be out-of-date now with lots of birth announcements!!! :rotfl:)
Sorry to hear about those of you experiencing pain and discomfort - I have no idea if I've had Braxton Hicks or not :o Would I definitely be able to tell!?

For me Braxton Hicks felt like someone was blowing up my belly from the inside like a balloon - at the point when it feels like any more and it might go pop!!! I had no idea what they were and phoned the midwife in a bit of a panic(who was very nice!) She said that some people describe it as "tightenings" or "pressure" and your belly can go hard and sometimes pointy shaped!

I think I've decided to put in to officially start Maternity Leave on 18th March - which is 4 weeks before EDD (so I'll be 36 weeks ;)) That way if I need to bring it forward I can but hopefully it is a "sensible" time!

Also, it's if you take time off sick within 4 weeks before your EDD you have to start mat leave then. The following is taken from gov.uk (https://www.gov.uk/working-when-pregnant-your-rights)

Maternity leave and Statutory Maternity Pay will start automatically If the employee is off work for a pregnancy-related illness in the 4 weeks before the baby is due - it doesn’t matter what has been previously agreed.

Princess Kate - how are you feeling today? Have you managed to speak to anyone yet? I don't think it matters who you see tbh. I've seen GP for some things and kept midwife for "official" appointments and phoning up for advice.
