Hope everyone is ok? Hugs all round.

Yay Mrs TM! So pleased for you!! :T

Princess Kate- Ooh-nursery planning?? We don't have a John Lewis nearby, and it sounds like they do lots of good stuff like that?

Wow missymoo, what an epic shopping trip! Do you feel a bit more organised now? And some good saving too!

Good luck shorty and freshstart - hope everything is moving along like it should, I'm excited for news!!

Timeflies-your ideal birth sounds just like mine! Hopefully it will all go your way (as much as possible!), and bubs gets a wriggle on!

AFM, I have a growth scan and consultant scan next Monday, when they will hopefully decide if I can have a water birth, and be in the birthing centre. I really want this, and think it will help keep my stress levels down as much as possible, making anxiety attacks less likely. I want to be as natural as I can, with the exception of gas and air (although fully reserve the right to change my mind and scream the house down for drugs! :o )

Operation 'get the house ready for baby' was due to start today in our house too, all was going well, I got up at 8 to crack on...then I fell. I really shook myself up, as I fell at the top of the stairs, so could have bee a lot worse. Have a lovely black elbow in my efforts to avoid landing on bump.
So, today has been a write-off. Try again tomorrow, hey?

It feels a little more urgent now Christmas is done, plus my friend who was due the week before me had emergency c-section last week, so a little bit scared and panicked now!!

Hope I've not missed anyone out xxx

  • Apologies if this has been discussed recently...

Has anyone (of those not due for a while...) already started packing their hospital bag?

Hello all. It's been a while. Been very busy over Xmas and I've just read back thro all I've missed over the last couple weeks.

How things can change in a couple weeks. My 25 week MW appointment on 23 rd said my bump was small, and everyone was saying how I still didn't look pregnant but then on Boxing Day I really popped and feel like I've doubled in size. Had a consultant appointment to check my thyroid levels today who measured the bump and I am now well above where I'm suppose to be. Docs sending me for a scan next Monday to check size of baby and to see if I need to be checked for gestation diabetes. My thyroid levels are also still not right so another blood test on Friday. I'm hardly going to be at work with all these appointments.
I had to rearrange my MW as it clashed with my ultrasound.

    With regards to other conversations I've missed in the last couple weeks;
No I haven't been carrying my notes with me so far. Might start soon though but I live 10 mins from my hospital so haven't been too worried about it so far.

Looks like people have been very busy with shopping. So far I haven't bought a thing. But we do have all major things from second hand donations from my sister which is all very good condition. We have received a few presents also. We still have a few odds and sods to buy that is gonna add up to a few £100 but that's nothing compared to what we would of had to spend without my sisters donations. IM so glad as I really don't have time to go looking round and choosing the best pushchair, car seat, cot etc.

Angry pickle, I haven't thought of packing yet, feels too soon. I'm not ready.
  • Aunty, I haven't but I did start reading about what to pack in your hospital bag last night. A girl I work with had her baby unexpectedly at 34 weeks, made me think if that happened and you'd left it until 36 weeks to pack it as is often suggested you wouldn't have anything. I am a bit confused by how big a bag I'd end up taking, by the time you put a pack of nappies in, maternity towels and breast pads thats going to take up quite a lot of room! So many things to think about.

I've been really uncomfy all day today. My back & hips have been aching all day as well as, sorry for TMI, my bits. It feels as if I've landed, split legged on a gymnastic beam! Ouch! Really started waddling today, I think because of the aches but several people commented on my bump being much bigger than before christmas. 1st day I've properly felt rubbish all day.
  • Aunty pickle-I've started collecting items and I hope to get it finished off and packed by the end of next week, I'll be 30 weeks by then.

I feel better being prepared, but it may also be a bit of transference as the house is far from ready! :rotfl: Plus, with my friend having her lo already, it's kicked my Harris into action a bit!

I've used mainly the list from the forum here and a few little bits and pieces I've picked up round and about-I plan on packing it into individual labelled bags too. Going to put all munchkins stuff into a separate changing bag (once I've made it!)

Also, my OH is not the most 'domestic'. When he had to bring me some clothes into hospital earlier last year when I had a mini stroke, I asked for a towel, and got a t-towel!!! :rotfl:

Also a reason for leaving a very detailed list of last minute additions, and their locations!!!

Hugs princess Kate, sorry you're having a crappity day

  • As you know I am a OBEM expert :p and a few of the women I've seen have come in with a suitcase!! Lots with those carry-on luggage cases, but most come in with at least 2 or 3 'normal' sized bags. I've not started packing mine yet, I've not even sorted out an actual bag to pack things in to! I'm thinking of leaving it until around 30 weeks. To me, 30 weeks is the milestone as then the countdown is in single figure weeks, so I think once I get to that point that's when I'll really start getting everything done.

millysg1 - how strange that you went from being under-size to then being over in such a short time! Hope all goes well with the tests, at least they are keeping an eye on everything for you. I know what you mean about not feeling ready. I don't feel prepared so perhaps that's the same as not feeling ready, but at the same time I wish the weeks would just miraculously fly by as I'm starting to get really impatient, I just want baby to be here already :)

Bubblepops - not sure if I feel more organised yet, even though we've now got most stuff! I think its because the nursery is not actually ready. Once we've got the bed, drawers and wardrobe bought and I can start putting things away in their specific places (which I feel will be highly exciting!), that's when I think I'll feel organised.
Fingers crossed all goes well at your scan and appointment and you get the go-ahead for the waterbirth. I was convincing DH just yesterday that I think that's the route I want to take, he was shocked at first as I don't think he ever thought I would want one, but the more I think about it the more I think I would like it. Not sure how likely I will be to get it though or even be in the MLBU as our one only has 4 rooms, and one of those has the pool. Will just have to wait and see :)
Sorry to hear you had a fall today - rather a banged elbow than a banged bump though! Hope you're feeling better now.

And last but not least, massive congrats to Mrs_T_M for team blue!!! Have you bought anything blue yet? I think I would have had to buy something immediately :p

I've had spd for weeks on weeks now, but today while I was in town (went to a few shops after the scan), I actually had the front of where my pelvis makes the 'hole' in the front pop and start moving around... Had to immediately sit down to try and get it back inline, and it's hurting sooooo badly right now. Tomorrow is going to be a sofa and duvet and crochet day, and the day after the hv is coming for a visit!

I went into Boots and Mothercare today, but couldn't find anything that I really loved! We have mostly neutral things, but quite a few bits for a little boy anyway (I'll put the poor thing in anything, so long as it's warm and covered, lol!) Took this photo to announce to everyone via FB about it being a boy:

  • Lovely pic Mrs TM, you look so happy! Your pelvis story sounds awful tho, hope it doesn't cause you too many problems today & a sofa day helps ease it.

What are the 1st signs of SPD? I've always suffered from a bad back so kind of expected to have more back issues in pregnancy but so far have been ok, it's still really achey today, everytime I got up in the night for the loo was an effort. Think I'm going to stay off work today, hopefully it'll give whatever it is that has flared up time to calm down & not be so painful!

I thought I'd been feeling baby doing whole turns, my bump kept going really tight and hard, after a weekly email from boots/mothercare/the bump I've realised its actually Braxton hicks. It's all getting more real now!!
  • Quick one from me so sorry for lack of personals.

In hospital and have been since 11am yesterday- had second lot of propess induction. Had mild contractions and back ache all evening and most of the night. Totally stopped now tho! Managed a few hours sleep. 2nd Propess being removed at 12. Next step is to try and break waters if possible but my cervix doesn't seem to want to dilate.
C-section has now been bandied about as well as the fact that this is a big baby. Decision will be made after 12. Hopefully one way or another I should have my baby today/tomorrow.

    Keep your fingers crossed ladies

P.S congrats on team blue Mrs_T_M.... Lovely photo too :)

For me, it was feeling like I'd been kicked by a horse in the crotch! Also, if your hips ache (feels like it's in the middle each of your bum cheeks), it can be your sciatic nerve. Stretching out the torso (leaning forward with a wide stance while sitting is nice for my back) and upper thigh/leg muscles does wonders for it for me. Tight leg and hip muscles can pull your pelvis out of alignment and even pull it apart! Even more reason for our other halves to give us massages, lol! :D
