  • I'm starting to think my scales might be dodgy! I might check next time I'm in boots! Although as I was overweight before I got pregnant, as missy's post above says, I want to put on as little as possible really. Maybe I'm just "lucky" I lost weight at the beginning from being so sick!

Decoration of the babies room has started today! OH has pulled up the old carpet, done the glossing & started the emultion. Decorator is coming tomorrow to do the wallpaper & we'll try & get the walls finished by next weekend. Carpet isn't coming until 2/2 & the furniture just after. The rest of the house is a tip tho!! Taken all the stuff that was in that room into the spare room, some random things & lots of baby stuff! We also went to a lush flea market today, we went before Christmas & saw a lovely wooden chest, it was still there but the lady who ran that stall wasn't there, the owner of the whole place accepted £40 for it but when he looked at it said if he'd noticed it he would have bought it, stripped it & sold it for £125! I think we got a bargain, it's an old blanket box but had the original candle box & drawers in it & even the original key for the lock. We're going to get it stripped & wax it & use it as a toy box! We also got an antique towel rail that we're going to use for blankets & bits. I've always wanted one & now I'll finally have somewhere to put it! Can't wait to be able to sort everything out now, there's stuff all over the house now!

Hope everyone had a good weekend & are feeling well! x
  • Hi Everyone!

Monday is a pair of kitten heels, I'm totally not with it today my 3 year old was up in the night in our bed (which is too small for 2 adults and a little person) then at about 3am started singing "I've got everything I need, right in front of me" from the Muppets film. Everyone in work is asking if I feel okay as my eyes are totally bloodshot from his constant sing and coughing - roll on half term please! I have zero motivation today.

Oh Princess Kate I'm excited for you decorating your nursery - we are waiting for a completion date for our house move so I'm stuck in limbo until we move in (Hopefully by the end of the month) we are moving from a small 2 up 2 down terrace to a 4 bedroomed detached house with a garden so I'm very excited - wish it could be sooner.

Hope everyone has a lovely day

    G x
  • Oh wow Georgie that'll be fab! So lovely getting a house together to become a home! Theres a messy, unorganised in-between bt but after that it'll be lovely!
  • That sounds great Georgie, you'll find such a difference moving from a small terrace to a big detached, you won't know what to do with all the space! Ha, if you're anything like me it will soon be filled up :p

Princess, sounds like your nursery will be lovely, glad its all coming along and you got a couple of bargains too! It's always the way isn't, you get one room done and looking lovely but the rest of the house ends up getting cluttered with stuff that was originally in the first room! You'll soon get it sorted though once you start nesting :)
  • Sorry, have been MIA - mad busy with the house.

Had scan and consultants today, munchkin's growth is ok, but they're concerned about high pressure at some points in the cord, so can't give us any kind of info about water birth decisions.

Got another scan in a fortnight, then another a fortnight after.

Has none got any experience of high cord pressure? We got the usual vagueries from the consultant, and there's v. Little on the internet.

I'm sure it can't be too bad, as they've not told me to do anything different/take it easy ec, but it's put the frighteners on me a bit.

Hugs to all, sorry for lack of personals, my head is a bit of a shed at the moment. Xx

  • Hugs bubblepops. No further info sorry but can you phone your midwife to see if she knows more or can find out to report back to you? I'm sure she'd prefer to do that than have you worrying about it. As you say if they didn't offer you any specific measures to take to change things it can't be that much of a problem.

    Just an update:

Had a MW (28 week), ultrasound and Consultant appointments yesterday.

MW went well, she was happy and took another set of bloods for my 28 week blood checks.

Ultrasound found baby to be large but not too large to be worried BUT I do have too much fluid so I have something called polyhydramnios. they want to see if they can find out why so first port of call is more blood tests and a glucose/diabetes test next week.

Then in 2 weeks time I will have another scan and consultant appointment to review the results.

Also, my thyroid levels stil aren't right so they've upped my dosage again with further blood tests next week.

Ive had blood tests every week for 4 weeks now and visit the hospital 2 times a week. work have been really goo though and haven't minded me missing work for all these appointments too much.

apparently, polyhydramnios means I could go into premature labor and increased chances of breached baby and requiring C-Section. So I have to keep a close eye on labor pains.

that's has made me realise how I need to sort myself out. I had thought I had ages but now im going to buy all outstanding items in my shopping list and start carrying my notes around with me everywhere.

We are having a lot of building work done also, been going since September but all is to finish by end of February, then we can set up the nursery in March. Like people have said, if baby does arrive earlier, it doesn't need its nursery yet, just a place to store everything which we can do at the moment anyway. I just don't want any of the work happening while on maternity leave/baby has arrived because I know things will get put off and we'll be too tired to do much!
  • oo bubblepop I've not heard about that before at all so I'm afraid I don't have any advice. Will it affect growth of baby? Hope everything's okay and someone pops up with a bit more knowledge than me.

Just had bad news re the house (not baby related) but our buyers are in rented and won't complete by the 30th January as orginally agreed unless we pay their last months rent (£500) we're kind of stretched to all we can afford at the minute but need to complete before the 31st because we won't be considered for our new catchment school for DS1 unless its done by then - so frustrated!
  • Georgie, why on earth do you need to pay for their last months rent!? That sounds ridiculous, surely they are responsible for paying their own rent? To prevent you having to pay, is there a way that you can show the school/LEA that your house sale is in process and that you will be living in that area? Not quite sure how those things work so apologies if that's a silly idea! Just doesn't seem fair that

Milly and Bubblepops - glad that babies are both well, but sorry to hear you've both been given news that gives you an air of uncertainty. At least it has all been picked up now and they are monitoring you both more closely, that can only be a good thing! I'm sure both will be fine but hugs all the same :)

AFM, I've managed to cut down my works to do list by half :T! If only the things left on there weren't things that are still going to take hours, like more reports :( But on the plus side, its keeping me busy and on my toes and the weeks are just flying by. I'm 28 weeks today, officially in the 3rd trimester  Got my 28 week appointment with the midwife tomorrow and then 4d scan on Sunday :)
