  • Hi everyone
sorry I'm not posting and replying to everyone - I'm just so exhausted! I am reading and sending mental hugs though!!!

My mum has a chest infection and carers are now going in x3 daily to check on her etc so that's good - one less thing to worry about. It's hard where I would normally have driven down to stay with her and look after her myself but that's just not practical at the moment!

I'm seeing midwife next Thursday and will be having blood tests then for anaemia etc. With hindsight I should have organised something earlier but I didn't think I would feel so washed out and now rightly or wrongly I just think "oh, it's only next week, I can survive till then". It's my 28 week apt so will also be having whooping cough vaccine.

Hugs for everyone struggling with whatever.....
Hooray for everyone having good stuff....

    apologies for slightly incoherent ramble!!

Hi everyone hope, your ok. This is more of,a rant than anything else but ..... Why do blokes think that 'wow you look huge already! Like, your about to drop, any second!' Is a really really nice thing to say? And it only seems to be men saying it to me lol worrying I'm getting too,big now as I've still, got another 13 weeks till baby is due! Argh! Xxx

I know what you mean but I get it from everyone - though I do work in a building of 90% men. I went away for xmas hardly looking pregnancy and came back 3 weeks later with a VERY large bump that it measuring 4 weeks ahead of where it should be.

Every time I walk down the corridor everyone keeps looking so shocked when they see me!

To be fair, im finding their expressions quite amusing and im trying to see the positives in it. but people really cant seem to help expressing their thoughts about how big I am.
  • Sulphate - don't think there is much they can do if baby keeps measuring small. The steriods i've been given will help mature baby's lungs if he arrives early. If i go into labour too early i'm assuming i'll be given drugs to try and slow down/delay labiur to give baby a better chance. Also when he's born, if they're aware he's likely to be born early they can prepare to have him taken to special care etc. With ds1, he was 5 weeks early and small and during labout, it was chaotic as the docs were worries he'd have lung issues (which he didn't), organ damage (which he didn't) and require special care (which he didn't!!)

Oh Aunty P, sounds like your mum is being looked after but must be such a worry for you, esp if you'd usually go down but are unable to. I'm sure she completely understand and would rather you keep her grandybaby safe!!

So another day, another hospital visit for me, running almost 2 hours late again. Its so frustrating as i get middle of the day appointments and i have to commute a fair way to work so there's no point me going to work, to leave a half hour in to return mid afternoon! However, hopefully no more visits to the hospital for another 2 weeks altho i do have MW (mid morning app) on monday!

Has anoyone any exciting plans for the weekend? Myself and OH are going out with a large group of friends for dinner tomorrow, first time in mths we've been out togther thats not been hspital related!!
  • Always - enjoy your evening out, it sounds lovely! Make the most of it as people keep telling me, you won't be able to do it for much longer :p

milly and Trixsie - I get a lot of comments at work, but definitely more since returning as my bump clearly is much bigger! I don't actually mind it though and I don't find it all offensive or derogatory. If I was ever going to be offended it would have been today as a lady at work who hasn't been in since Christmas said 'Oooh you look well, although it looks like you've swallowed a large Christmas pudding!' :p I did laugh though as I find it funny, and I actually agree with her, my bump is very round :o I also wore DH's T-shirt today as my baggier ones are now a little too short, and I got comments about that too... 'Oh Miss, you're wearing bigger clothes now!' But when you teach teenagers the comments are expected so its all taken with a pinch of salt and in good jest :p

Aunty - I'm glad your mum is being looked after well, that should hopefully ease your mind. Fingers crossed you get some energy back soon :)

Princess - what a pain about the wallpaper! Is there any way that when you get the next lot that they can unroll them in front of you so you can check that they are undamaged? Sorry to hear you are still uncomfortable and in pain. Fingers crossed your physio works wonders. Do you have one of those special pillows to sleep with? I don't but I'm considering it now as I'm starting to fidget at night and keep waking up.

I'm feeling better now, although still achey and I've been feeling quite uncomfortable to the right of my bellybutton today. It's almost like a stitch - I've felt it before but not for as long as I have today and its still there now. I'm guessing its just ligament stretching?

In other news, I had a letter in the post today asking me to call the surgery for a telephone appointment with a doctor to discuss my recent results. I'm now worrying slightly as it relates to my blood tests from Weds, but then I think it can't be that urgent as they say a telephone appointment will normally be booked around 14 days away. Thinking it must be anaemia or diabetes :(
  • Thank you milly and missy, for me it was the way it was said not what was actually said altho atm I do have a lot of stress on and am very touchy. It's the horror when I say I'm not due till April!
Had a 4 hour nap today which I obviously needed but it's put me behind with things i,should've been doing lol! That'll teach me to go,out with the people from work after a shift! :)
Baby is doing somersaults today and when she turns I can see a lump going back and forth across my stomach. Oh felt it earlier and freaked out a little bit lol I guess I'm used to feeling her now and he doesn't get to do,it so much!
Aunty I hope, your mum is feeling better and that you are finding time to look after yourself aswell as her at the moment.
Just a quick question because,oh thinks I'm being a bit snobby and I'm don't mean to be. ..
A friend of ours is selling the pushchair that we want to get (silver cross 3d) at an amazing price but obv it has been used. It is in excellent condition as her eldest didn't really like it. Oh thinks we should buy it from them but I'm not so sure because one thing I really wanted was a brand new pushchair. What would you do? Xxx
    Debt free finally :j
    First house purchase ... 2018 :j
  • I think that's really up to you Trixsie. On One hand it's always good to save money, and if it's an amazing price, that's even better. On the other, if you really want a new one, then why shouldn't you treat yourself. If you can afford it, I would :) (not much help I know) xx

That was my thing this time, a new pushchair, as we had a cheapy with DD and 2nd hand with DS so it was nice to go out yesterday and actually buy a new one. Took some choosing though!

My bump is really firming up now, it's so hard to the touch. Kicks are crazy now too, she kicked OH in the head when he rested on it the other day.

Hope your blood results are OK Missymoo, fingers crossed it's nothing bad.

Get your feet up too Auntie P if you're shattered, you have to look after you both xx

  • Missy - I work in the haematology labs in a hospital in cardiff. Assuming in England they take the same 28 week bloods as in Wales it is likely to be that you're showing as being anaemic. Diabeties can't be picked up from a full blood count & the other test which is done is blood group and antibodies. I've often been quite anaemic & so got them to check my iron levels at 12 weeks so I knew where I was from the start. I take a pregnancy vitamin, just boots own one but I also take Ironcare from health span. Anyone who has ever taken iron before will know it can have some not very nice side effects but this formula doesn't seem to have any & has kept me well topped up with iron. Another good product you can buy is Spatone, it's little sachets of iron rich water, it doesn't taste the best but it's easily absorbed & works well if you put it in some orange juice as the vitamin C aids the absorption of the iron.

Sorry about all the iron info there!! Could come in handy to others, but it can make you feel rubbish & it's better to catch it early to get your levels back up before delivery.

I went back to mamas & papas yesterday & they were really rude to me, don't know if it was just their manor or how they deal with everyone. I'm pretty sure this roll is dodgy too but my decorator is going to call in today to check So I can swap in it in the morning if I need to. Now I just wish I'd bought all the rolls they had in that batch there but I just wanted to get out of the shop I was so annoyed!

I have a dreamgenii pillow. I bought it on eBay for about £10 delivered. The idea is lovely but I just can't get comfy with it so everytime I've tried to sleep on it it gets kicked out of bed shortly after. Makes me glad I didn't spend £50 on it! I tried a normal pillow between my knees wednesday night & that was better but doesn't stay put for long. However fingers crossed my back was feeling a bit better yesterday. I wore this maternity belt thing I bought, again on eBay, really early on in my pregnancy. Forgot I had it till someone in work suggested trying it. It really felt like it was holding my pelvis together which was just what I needed!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! xx

De lurking from the under 12 weeks thread!

Princess Kate - I'm also in South Wales and work at the CRI although my husband works at the Heath in Microbiology. Small world!

Hope everyone is well, I shall go back to the little thread again!

Are you talking about a pram (newborn only), a stroller (older babies) or pushchair (both newborn and older)?

Personally, I love bargains and am always happy with second hand stuff if good quality and good price. My pram is second hand as I really can't justify paying the £100s for something baby users for 6 months. It looked hardy used and was a fraction of the price. I can afford brand new but the MSE of me could never spend that much if not necessary.

But if your getting a pushchair that you plan to use for years then brand new probably makes more sense as you can guaranty durability.

    Anyway, that's my thoughts!
