Thanks for the info Princes, really helpful
I've done a bit of research into anaemia in pregnancy and it seems its quite common so it's eased my mind a little. Will phone the surgery on Monday and will hopefully get the telephone appointment soon.
How was the wallpaper today!? Hopefully all ok, and I'm glad you're feeling a bit better now after using the pregnancy belt - sounds like that was a good buy too!
Thanks PhoenixHow many weeks are you now? My bump ranges between hard and soft throughout the day still, but the kicks and movements are definitely stronger. Sounds like your OH got the same treatment as mine did with a kick in the head, it was highly amusing
Trixsie, your comment about your OH freaking out with all the movements made me think of our friends whose baby is due a couple of days after ours. He said he doesn't touch the bump or feel the kicks because its weird and freaky and he doesn't like it, but for me and my OH this is one of the things that has brought us closer together. He absolutely loves feeling it and he's always a bit disappointed if baby is 'asleep' or not very active. I can't imagine how I would feel if he refused to touch it or we couldn't share those moments together. I'm going to quite miss it I think once baby is on the outside
I went into Mothercare today and bought a mattress for the cotbed, a baby bath and then a few other little bits to bring the total to £100 as I had a £10 off a £100 spend voucher. The mattress was already reduced from £110 so I feel that I got a good deal today. More things being ticked off my list, plus we got a call in the week to say the cotbed and carseat base has been delivered to the shop, which is great as they had estimated up to 10 weeks for the cotbed but its actually only been two!
And finally, its 3/4d scan time tomorrow! Really excited but so nervous at the same time that we'll potentially get a good idea of what it actually looks likeKeeping everything crossed that baby is in a good position for it and we still manage to stay team yellow

They didn't spot I had very low base levels of iron (my full blood count was ok though) until the 28 week blood tests. I'd been feeling pretty whacked out throughout the pregnancy, but figured it was because I had a wiggler.
They put me on iron tablets (with extra vitamin pills as I couldn't have the recommended orange juice to help digest them because of the diabetes) and within a few days I felt *much* better. Just wish I'd realised sooner!
They re-took the blood at 34 weeks, and all had returned to normal - it was no great drama in the grand scheme of things, so I hope that puts your mind at rest x_missymoo_x?
36 weeks for us now and the little dude seems to have gone back into hiding. Just waiting for the consultant on Tuesday to give me the extraction date - can't come soon enough!MFW 01/01/17 - £123,279.40

Hi Missy, I found out I was anaemic (sp?) after the 25/28 week blood tests and iron really doesn't agree with my digestive system so my consultant told me to try Spatone. I was really worried about the taste (I'm really funny about taking medicines and the like, I'd so much rather have tablets!) but I had one earlier in a glass of orange juice and I could hardly tell it was in there. So I'd recommend that if you struggle with iron tablets (and obviously if you are low on iron!). I don't know how they compare in terms of amount of iron compared to tablets though :-/
Enjoy your 3D/4D scan tomorrow! Do you know or have a feeling what position baby's in? I hope he/she is in a good position and you get some good pics! Don't forget to post some pics after for us all to have a nose too! I've got my repeat scan next Saturday and I have a strong feeling my baby's still going to be breech and completely uncooperative!
Talking about baby kicks too - does anyone else ever feel nauseous when their baby kicks really hard? The strength of her kicks seems to vary, but every three or four days I get what I call 'belly wobblers' which almost hurt and make me feel really funny :-/ her estimated weight on Monday was 3lb 4oz so it worries me how strong she'll be at double the weight!!
Hi Trixsie, re the pram - I think for me it would come down to two things, how much you can save buying it from your friend and how much you can afford to spend the extra on new. So only you can really decide!
Hi Rebekah, sorry I don't know the answer to your question but I didn't want to just ignore you!
Hi Kate, that's rubbish about Mamas and Papas, I'm annoyed for you! I'd be tempted to put a complaint in, both about the dodgy wallpaper and them being rude! If you still want the wallpaper can you order it online instead? Then it will probably be from a different batch and might be ok?
Sorry you've been feeling unwell but the maternity belt sounds like a good investment. You've reminded me that my in laws brought me one of those V shaped pillows for Christmas to help me sleep but I've not had trouble sleeping (sorry!) so I haven't used it. To be honest I'm not sure how it's meant to help!
As for me, I'm 30 weeks today! It feels like a big milestone but it's just a number I guess. It's a bit mad to think as I'll hopefully be having this baby at 37 weeks that's only seven weeks away. Does everyone else find it a bit surreal or is it just me?!
Anyway hope everyone's having a lovely weekend! My DH has gone out tonight so I'm enjoying watching trashy tv without him moaning about itx

Hello all. Just had a quick read through and forgotten most of your lovely chat already - sorry!
Missy - it sounds to me like it's probably low iron too, hopefully they'll sort you some tablets and all be will be well! And enjoy your scan - very exciting!
Princess - what a farce with the M&P wallpaper! We've just been having lots of wallpapering done which involved buying 3 different types so we just bought 2 extra rolls of each to stop anything like this happening (and in case the decorator underestimated - which he did) so we used some and can return some for a refund. I would definitely complain though, they should have at least been apologetic when you had to go back!
Aunty - sorry to hear your mum is unwell but glad she is getting the care she needs!
Always - wishing you good luck with the steroid injections and baby measuring small - I'm glad you are (eventually) getting looked after properly and hope baby arrives safe and well. Don't worry about taking time off work - you are entitled to it and it could be worse, I know people who have been off for weeks at a time due to hyperemesis. You need to do what's best for baby!
Hi sulphate! - not long for us now!! I would also be interested to know what your HV spoke to you about, ours don't get involved until about 10 days after you've had baby.
I finished work on Wednesday (36 weeks) and was very ready! I do enjoy my job and I had converted to a desk job so it was fine but I was struggling with the morning get-ups and have loads to do at home so glad to have a bit of time off before baby comes (hopefully!) I'm still a bit ill with the horrid virus I've had for the past 3 weeks too. I'm feeling a lot better than I was but I now have a painful chesty cough and think I've pulled a muscle near my ribs from the coughing as it's soooooo sore - feels really bruised like I've been punched!! I'm just hoping a few days of rest and I'll be fine. Need to be fit and healthy for next weekend as I'm away for a hen weekend in a different city! Really not the best timing in the world as I'll be 37.5 weeks by then but the hen is one of my bestest friends so I'm making the effort. Going to skip the night out but hopefully will be OK for the whole day of planned fun!! Also desperately need to finish my hospital bag this week so I can take it with me (just in case!) Luckily I'm getting a lift there as I'll have tonnes of stuff (including my dreamgenii pregnancy pillow which I love!)
Our house renovation is still underway but is getting there, this next week will be spent receiving deliveries and cleaning/sorting while I'm off and also going to start washing some of the baby's clothes - eek! Whenever I look through the clothes it hits home that we'll have a baby soon!! We bought a few more bits yesterday including a changing bag but think we must be nearly done. Got to set up the Moses basket in our room soon but don't think baby is planning on arriving anytime soon - head is not engaged at all and s/he is lying really high which makes eating a bit difficult sometimes and has led to some 3rd trimester vomiting - boo!
Had my 36 weeks appt on Fri and all was well - still measuring a bit small but growth scan 2 weeks ago was all fine so MW was happy. We talked a bit about my birth plan too so just need to write it out properly now.
Hope everyone is doing OK - sorry for the mammoth post, I should be able to keep on top of posting a bit more now I'm off work although the 'to do' list might say differently!
Enjoy your Sunday!!0 -
Tilly, thanks for the info re: anaemia. Until I speak to the doctor I'm not going to do anything different just in case it doesn't relate to that at all, but its all helping to put my mind at rest so thank you
For the scan today I really hope baby co-operates too! Currently as I type this sitting up I can feel baby kicking quite low around the knicker-line area, so hopefully this means he/she is sitting with head up but I'm not very good at judgingWhen is your re-scan? Fingers crossed your little madam behaves herself
I've never felt nauseous with the kicks, but they can be uncomfortable for a couple of seconds. Its a really odd feeling but not an entirely unpleasant one as I really enjoy feeling the movements. Sometimes if its in my ribs or my side I'll give it a little nudge back to try and get it to move away and it sometimes works! And I agree with you about the hitting the 30 week milestone- I don't know what it is about it but something about saying I'm 30-something weeks feels significantly different to saying a number in the 20's!
fuzzipeg - thank you so much for your info re: your anaemia. I have been feeling very tired but I've always its assumed its because of the all of the extra work my body is putting in creating this little human. As I said to tilly, until I hear from my doc's I'll just try not to think about and definitely won't do anything different yet, but it is all helping to reassure me before I try and get my appointment tomorrow
Extraction date :rotfl: Fingers crossed its not too far away! Are you completely ready for it now? I'm talking practically as in got everything bought and prepared, as potentially we may never actually feel ready to be a parent when the time comes, speaking for myself anyways haha0 -
Hello pm04gn! Small world indeed! Hope all goes well for your pregnancy!
Missy enjoy your scan, let us know how you get on! There will be such a difference from the last time you saw baby!
As for me, wallpaper-gate continues! ha! The decorator can't come back until next weekend now but m&p don't have anymore of this batch, this is the 2nd batch I've had already. Hoping it will be ok now but someone from customer services is going to contact me after the decorator has been to sort something out. I don't expect to be treated like a princess just because I'm pregnant. But when you've spent a lot of money in a store and had issues I don't want to be spoken to like muck. BTW I obviously am a princess! We did buy 3 rolls where we thought we'd need 2 but apparently the rolls are slightly shorter than standard rolls so you only get 3 drops instead of 4. Cheeky!
We took some bags of staff to the charity shop yesterday & picked up a baby bath support thing when we were there for £1.50! Bargain! We now have a mountain of baby stuff in the spare room waiting for the nursery to be ready for everything to be put in a place! I can't wait! The only thing we haven't sorted yet is the pram, i think! Not many bits left on my list & a few people have asked me for suggestions for presents so I think i'll leave those for them. 1 thing was a steriliser, as I was intended to breastfeed & didn't want to be over organised to make it easy to give up, I'm aware how hard it can be at the beginning I didn't think I'd need one but my friend mentioned if I was expressing I'd need one anyway. For a big Dr Brown's set on amazon for around £40 which included several bottles if I did express. Was something I genuinely didn't think of tho.0 -
Nicky Noo na, congratulations on finishing work. Enjoy the rest & the fun bits of getting ready for babies arrival!0
-
Missy, this might be a silly question given your issues with your midwife, but in your check ups has she felt baby's position? I feel "kicks along my knicker line also but baby has been head down since 28 weeks, back on my left side & arms & legs on the right, so it's either punching me or head butting! Lovely!0

missymoo I agree with you about being concerned about mistakes especially when it's a first pregnancy. Good luck with your scan today - keep us updated
Princess kate very annoying about your wallpaper! And sorry you have been in pain
Trixsie I didn't have that until I went back to work after Christmas, I guess because people at work didn't see me for 2 weeks and got a bit of a shock when I got back. I feel like saying "well yes I am pregnant you know!"
Aunty Pickle sorry that your mum is still unwell but glad that she seems to be being looked after
Rebekah i don't know about the baby clubs because I've joined all the typical ones and have no freebies apart from some babies r us vouchers
fuzzipeg that's so exciting about getting a date on Monday - eek!
Nicky Noo Na hope you feel better soon! I have the dreamgenii pregnancy pillow as well and it's a godsend. Enjoy the hen weekend, it might be the last time you're away for awhile!? I started washing baby clothes this week tooit's very surreal seeing them hanging on the airer! But very cute too! Sure in just a few months I won't be feeling like that tho!
missymoo and Nicky Noo Na - as for the HV, a lot of the questions they ask are similar to the first MW booking appointment. Mine asked about domestic violence, family histories/support, partner support, financial/housing issues, any problems with the pregnancy, my feelings about it etc - a lot of the questions are geared towards detecting postnatal depression I think which is probably a good thing they are so on the ball. This is quite useful (I didn't get a red book though I think that comes post baby here): http://www.babycentre.co.uk/a1047206/get-the-best-out-of-your-health-visitor-babies
I think we are about sorted now but feeling very crampedWe got a moses basket gifted to us and a crib lent to us (new mattresses) so set up the moses basket downstairs and crib upstairs with a view that baby could sleep in moses basket during day and crib at night. We did it this way cos crib is bigger so should last 6 months til baby can go into cotbed in own room, but means we have hardly any room in our bedroom now
Got some last minute bits yesterday including getting measured for nursing bras at bravissimo, desperately needed as I have still been wearing my normal bras with bra extenders but they were getting too tight. Wish I'd gone for bigger size now because started wearing one today and it's pretty tight around the band (the cups have loads of room in them still to allow for milk coming in etc) but the lady did say that my belly will obv shrink... although that won't be immediate. Ugh I guess I'll have to wear more bra extenders til baby is born then. To be fair my non nursing bras were also from there and had the same problem with them initially until I'd "worn them in".
I haven't bought anything like a steriliser/bottle stuff cos I really want to breastfeed and don't want to be "tempted" into using formula if I can make it work. Not sure if it's a good idea tho.
Back to work tomorrow for 8.5 days. Getting annoyed now because the fact I'm having a baby seems to have finally hit them but it's not like they haven't had enough notice! :rotfl:0 -
I thought the same as you sulphate but as my friend pointed out if I express, she's lent me her breast pump, then that will need sterilising as well as any bottles if the baby is fed expressed milk. Guess it doesn't hurt to have it, having formula milk in as well might be a step too far tho!0
