Yep nipple sheilds have to be sterilised. I did after every use but then read someone once a day was fine.:jMarried 16/07/2010, ds1 born 11/08/12, baby due 08/05/20150 -
Oh no missy lo, I would complain that she let the sex slip, Deary me.
We have another scan on nhs at 32 weeks to check my placenta has moved and slightly worried we might see sex by mistake, we want to stay team yellow.
Had a knackering 2 days, working 8-4, cooking dinner, managing toddler. Haven't been sleeping so well so I will be off to bed early tonight.
14 weeks left at work I will be using a bit of holiday to make them shorter weeks.:jMarried 16/07/2010, ds1 born 11/08/12, baby due 08/05/20150 -
Congratulations timeflies - what a whopper!! I would love to hear more about the birth if you would happy to share as I'm scared I'm going to have a chunk too
My husband was 10lb2oz
Huge well done to you, I hope you and your family are doing well and enjoying every moment
fuzzipeg - what size is your 'little' one currently? Hope you're not kept waiting too long before you can meet him, and fingers crossed your house is back to normal soon!
I'm sorry you're not feeling your normal self Aunty-Pickle - sending hugs and hoping you're feeling better soon x
Always_Alone - I'm having my whooping cough jab in three weeks just after my 32 week appointment. I managed to change the appointment from a different time to get it after my midwife apt, but even if I had to go on a different day I would still have it, just because its recommended so makes sense for me to have it. Sounds like you're very relaxed about everything if you've not got certain bits ready, but sometimes it can feel strange doing it all too early so I don't blame you! How many weeks are you now? You may even find that you can get everything done in just one weekend.
Welcome downhillfast :hello: I'm glad that your DW is doing well and you are getting everything ready! I've had to curb on spending as there are just too many lovely things out there, but its so easily donefingers crossed baby doesn't make an early appearance and interrupts either your NCT classes or the marathon (and good luck for that too, hope your training is going well!)
millysg1 - hope your diabetes test went well? I also popped into Asda to check out their baby event after seeing a Perfect Prep for around £55 online (sold out) but none in the store either - I bet they sold really quickly! I settled on another pack of muslins, some nappy cream and some delightful maternity and breast pads, oh the joysSuch glamorous things!
Princess kate - Thanks for the reminder about the Boots Parenting Club, I thought I had already signed up but when I checked I hadn't so all done now
I had my telephone appointment with the doctor today to discuss my 28 week bloods, and I'm pleased to say that all is fine and I'm not anaemicIt was my white blood cells that were higher than average, but after I told the doc I haven't been ill and not had any infections he put it down to raised blood volume as normal in pregnancy so nothing to worry about

Cross posted jedi! We didn't complain as we're still not sure if it was a genuine mistake because she always refers to the baby as a she, and to be honest we still feel none the wiser... She didn't confirm it for definite either way so I'm quite happy staying team yellow and acting as if we didn't hear it
Perhaps when you have your 32 week scan you could ask them to look without showing you baby on the screen first to make sure they get the ultrasound at the right angle before slipping up!
Know what you mean about feeling tired, I think I'm yawing all day long! I've got a little bit of school work to do tonight but then will have an early night, sounds like a good idea0 -
Glad all was ok with your bloods missy.
I had physio today for my back/pelvis. It was a group session of information really but enough to work out what further treatment you needed. I've booked an assassnent for Thursday morning but was pleased, in a way, to hear her describe everything I've been feeling and suffering from. They gave me a sliding sheet for bed to help turning over ehich I'm very excited to try as I've been struggling with sleep a lot!0 -
always our area has different types of ante natal classes, so we've just booked onto the ones we thought were useful. Is it different where you are, or is that something you could do?
time flies huge congrats!! And  -well done you, that's quite the baby!!!
fuzzipeg sorry you're disappointed, but a home and not a building site would be much nicer to bring bubs back to, I suppose. Hope you get the news you want on your next visit. How 'big' is 'big'? The sizes of baby on My pregnancy app are starting to scare me a little, and that's only at 31w!!
auntypickle sorry you're not too good-mental health can be really tough to cope with generally without adding pregnancy into the mix. I know I've found it to be a real balancing act; one I've not won much tbh. Hope your MW was helpful? If you ever want to chat/rant/gibber at someone in a similar position, you can always pm me. I'm glad your mom is picking up, that's one less worry, I suppose. I know exactly what you mean about the talking-sometimes head in the sand feels a bit less agitating doesn't it?
And don't apologise! Sometimes reading is all I can manage too, posting is too hard, but I like to think that I'm keeping up with everyone the best I can xxx
Jedi when's your scan? Good luck for you
missy :j to no anaemia. :mad:to silly scan person. Sure it was just what they say-must be so impersonal for them saying 'baby' all day long, I'm sure that's all it was
princesskate glad physio was ok. What's a sliding sheet? Sounds like something I would be far too clumsy to be trusted with! Hope it helps.
AFM-today I've slept, eaten and slept again. The MW said I looked exhausted, so trying to rest up a bit more. More decorating tomorrow though! Not Feeling brill mentally, so sleep and distracting activity is all I can hope for. It's snowing like a good 'un here, so I may escape my dreaded appointment on Thursday yet!!
Hugs to everyone, sorry to anyone I've missed out xx'By all means let's be open minded, but not so open minded that our brains drop out.'0 -
A sliding sheet is literally a sheet made of slippery material so when you lie on it in bed it makes it much easier to move, rather than having to turn onto your back & then other side, can just slide round in one movement. I had a sewing machine for christmas so I think tomorrow I'm going to attempt to make a nice version but along the same lines.
Hope the snow doesn't cause you too many problems, unless you want to be snowed in of course! Be careful if you need to go out tho! We had about 5 tiny flakes earlier but I was still excited!0 -
Timeflies so many congratulations on the safe arrival of your little one
missymoo No DH wasn't there. I think they are quite hot on that kind of thing understandably. At my MW appointment last week she also asked about it again and said that they have to ask every time the woman comes without her partner. Glad you scan was amazing it sounds lovely and bet you are even more impatient to meet little one now.
downhillfast welcome to the thread and congratulations.
millysg1 hope your GTT blood test comes back okay and glad you got to take your own lucozade - when I had mine I had to drink this horrible sugary concoction and would much rather have brought my own drink! Ugh!
Princess kate good luck with your GTT - note the above! Thanks for the heads up about the parenting club - I thought I had signed up to all the clubs but I never seem to get anything
Nicky hope you are enjoying your mat leave so far. I am feeling tired and achy but luckily have an office job so not too strenuous. I am convinced baby will be late hence going to 38 weeks. Although starting to regret it now as work is becoming intolerable. I was ready to leave a year ago but we were ttc'ing so….!
Bubblepops good luck with your appointment on Thursday. Hopefully they can find a solution that works for both you and baby.
Always alone I had the whooping cough jab but it's entirely personal choice whether or not to have it, it is strongly recommended round these parts though. Seems to differ how you get it depending on where you live - some ladies on this thread have it done at a MW appt but my GP sent me a letter about it and also the flu jab. Re antenatal classes - I just did the NHS ones and found them useful but some people have found them totally useless, others have done NCT. Seems to be a bit of a postcode lottery…
fuzzipeg how frustrating for you but I guess as you say they are taking baby into account… hopefully your house will be sorted by then too
Aunty Pickle sorry to hear you've been having difficulties and hope things start to perk up a little soon. Also good to hear about your mum though.
Sorry to anyone i missed.
Not much to say really anything i will have to say will be ranting about work. 6.5 days to go!! Most of my colleagues think I'm totally mad to carry on til 38 wks. But soon I'll be swapping it for a much harder job! I have got it into my head though that baby will be late and don't seem to have accepted that I will be full term on Thurs.
Must sleep now...0 -
De-lurking to wish congratulations to Timeflies on the birth of your daughter. Hope you are enjoying the hugs...... They sure make up for the lack of sleep!
Also sending hugs to Aunty Pickle- sorry things are tough for you at the moment. I've had anxiety since my son has been born- been struggling with it quite a lot. I hope you start to feel better but don't put yourself under too much pressure0 -
princess Katethats a really good idea-hope it helps. A prettier version on your sewing machine sounds good too!!
I'm not going out today, so not bothered about the snow. Would be nice for OH to have a snow day, as he's coming down with a cold, but it seems his school is open, mores the pity!!
sulphate sorry work is crap-you must be counting down the hours!
shorty *waves* nice to hear from you. Sorry you're feeling poo. Big hugs for you xxxx'By all means let's be open minded, but not so open minded that our brains drop out.'0
