freshstart11 - I agree it's weird planning for an event, when you don't know when it'll happen! I guess most things we plan for - holidays, weddings, work deadlines etc have a fixed date we can psych ourselves up for!

Sorry work is so stressful shorty78 - we can count down the days together - your last is 28 Nov too, right? It must be hard having such an unsupportive boss. If you want to finish sooner, can you just let your boss/HR know? My policy at work just says give as much notice as you can if you want to change your mat leave date.

I have loads of work to do for next Wednesday, and then otherwise just to get stuff done before I go. My boss won't be there for my last week, so that'll be strange if I have no maternity cover and no boss to pass things to.
  • Congratulations to Angela84!! And I hope your holding your gorgeous new baby too Northern78.

freshstart11 I hope the next 8 weeks don't drag too much, are you all ready for you little bundle? (Sorry if you have discussed it already i'm fully blaming baby brain!)

Not much going on here, we were talking earlier about the fact we need to get our act in gear though and make some decisions on pram, car seat etc. We have the money put away so that's not the problem it's just we always dither over big purchases, we have realised though that we have a limited amount of time to make our minds up this time!!

  • Congratulations Angela84 and hope all went well Northern 78. Sorry I haven't updated in ages. Trying to get everything wrapped up at work before maternity leave on the 14th Nov. Plus there's still so much to do to the new house.

Bit of an odd problem I'm having at the moment. Everyone I know seems to want to see me before baby is born. However I'm so exhausted every evening that even socialising takes it out of me. So, I'll see a friend, get home at around 8.30pm and be too tired to do anything but go to bed.

I'm at the stage now where I have to say no and I really wish everybody would just leave me alone, but I feel bad.

All I want is to be in my house nesting.

Thanks for the advice freebiequennie & Timeflies. My sister said the same to me yesterday about speaking to the docs and midwife. I'm actually taking holiday to start my maternity leave earlier and I do have some left that I was carrying through to the end of my maternity break so I could use that. I don't really want to let them know I want to finish a bit earlier- they will just pressure me even more for the fortnight I would have left.

The next 2 weeks are pretty busy in my job so I will certainly see them out- last week of the month is normally a bit quiet so I don't see it would do any harm not to be here.

Other than this last work bit- I'm getting on quite well with the last trimester. I have a bit of backache and am super tired but other than that I shouldn't grumble. I read on lots fo forums that people have it worse than me.

I feel your pain runmichellerun. I keep getting nagged that I haven't seen anyone for a while but I just don't have the energy to socialise- presumably that is going to get worse once December approaches. You have to learn to say no.....it's tricky tho.

Hoping everyone has nice weekend plans- even if they involve sleeping :)
  • Have felt really rubbish today popped to shops was going to get all the family Xmas cards but then couldn't face it, poundland had a huge q so got hot n felt icky in there n then in Tesco forgot most what needed so came home n went to bed!!

Weather vile here just off out on school run, got school fireworks tonight hoping the rain stops at least as we have paid for it already.

I was signed off, midwife told me off for struggling with all the ailments I have lol. I have no idea how I could still be at work. I am resting but busy at home. Shorty if you are struggling do mention it.

Been doing nursery today. All the car and pushchair covers are in the wash so that will be ready tomorrow. Hospital bag almost done, babies is done. Got a problem with the cot so oh will have to sort as I want baby sleeping in there from the start. We have an old house with a huge bedroom so cotbed will fit in with changing table. Shame two other rooms are stupidly small.

Looking forward to a chilled night with oh as I am very sore, maybe done too much. Still not long to wait now.

Enjoy the fireworks Freebie. Lots of hot choc to keep warm :)
  • Thanks Mr knight got soaked on school run bloody weather hope it stops soon.

Unfortunately I dislike hot choc and have thrown up everything I have eaten today other than my nutella on toast for breakfast.

Making sausages n mash for dinner so should manage the mash, I made piri piri chicken n chips last night but just had chips with cheese as couldn't face chicken.

Anyway 37+1 so the end is near

Sorry I have been AWOL this week, am absolutely shattered, am 34 weeks today. Still have so much work to do and running out of time - 3 weeks til I start maternity, and they have still not found a replacement for me.

Freebie hope you begin to feel better soon and can enjoy the fireworks with your LO.

Runmichellerun - I must come across as a miserable moo to people..I have turned down all social invites as am just too tired. My parents keep saying that when I start maternity they will pop over so I don't get bored, have basically told them I will enjoy the peace and quite and to leave me alone!! Am sure good friends won't mind if you tell them you will see them another time.

Estateprincess - hopefully you will be able to get some bargains in the Jan sales. Keep researching now and make any decisions and then go bargain hunting!

    Congratulations Angela84

Assume there should also be congratulations for Northern too..

Freshstart I know what you mean about being slightly envious of those with CS dates...I am at the point where I want the baby out as am so uncomfortable, tired and fed up

Sorry to anyone I have missed
  • I think there has to be a point where you just say no to visitors or going out. Easier said than done though:o

Our plan was to use the January sales for bargains but I have 2 conflicting thought trains. One says wait for the bargains as it's mse and being an accountant I love a bargain but the other one says that's leaving it late, I am a natural planner and like things in order! :rotfl:

As for work cover we're hoping to find someone asap to train up for a good couple of months before I leave although your stories are now making me worry we won't find anyone:eek:

On the plus side we''re 26 wks tomorrow and Our Bean is currently kicking away so I'm a happy bunny this morning's despite a poor night sleep and the rain outside!
