Angela what's in the homebirth box? I've got the midwife coming on Thursday to check our house for ease of access etc and do an ante natal appointment at home, she didn't mention about bringing anything around.

Just been to visit a friend who had a baby on Friday. So I got cuddles from a two day old little girl who is so so beautiful, she slept on my chest/bump for an hour and a half and I didn't want to give her back! I was so so broody, I just can't wait now.
  • Hi all got my mum staying for a few days- back to school today for ds.

Had terrible heartburn yesterday actually took ranitidine twice it was that bad n the backache I now have is not pleasant think it's coz baby is back to back.

  • Hello Everyone :hello:
I have taken the plunge and moved up to this thread:eek:
We are Team Yellow and currently 24+1 wks. I have an anterior placenta so feeling movement has been limited but has increased a lot over the past 2 weeks and we seem to have a Bean with a routine! I haven't got much else to add but have been reading this thread while on the 12-24 week one, moving here is exciting but also scary!

I've added myself to the list, I hope I've done it right?

Congratulations on the recent Births and Good Luck to those who are due soon x

Welcome Estate Princess and well done for finding the list and adding to it. I had no reason other than a lazy baby, and didn't feel him move much at all, so as long as what you feel is normal for you then that is fine.

Angel - hope the midwife visit goes well this week

Freebie -hope you had a good half term. Hope you are feeling better today

Am on half term now, so just got up from a mid day nap, though this is not going to help my problem of sleeping at night and could be disastrous as I still have 4 weeks left at work when we go back. Managed to get some nice photos from the photo shoot, just need to wait for them to be printed. Think we will wait before putting them up so that we can organise photos on the wall with newborn photos to compare to.

This is a really silly question but those of you who already have children - when using blankets and only 1 layer is needed, how do you do this? I thought you need to put the baby at the bottom of the crib, but if I then put the blanket over them and it is big, how do you avoid folding it over them? Am I being really stupid about this?!
  • Yes not revealing the ecs date to anyone.
Only myself and DH will know. May be DH's employer for the leave.

On term break this week and feels so good to have that lay in in the bed without hurrying out of home by 7am.

4 more weeks for my maternity leave to start and can't wait.

A small question for all ladies working when you apply for maternity leave with HR are you supposed to get any letter from them confirming the dates and payments etc. I applied for my maternity in September but still did not receive anything from them.
    Saving goal for BTL mortgage - 28600 / 60000 ( July 2021) , 37600/60000 (December 2021) , 39300 / 60000 (august 2022) , 41000/60000 ( January 2023)

Your post sounds similar to mine re: maternity leave and half term!

I thought you were supposed to receive confirmation and a breakdown of payments but I have not received anything either, and also handed mine in at the start of Sept. I believe you work in a college - do you have annual pay reviews? I am hoping that the reason I haven't received anything yet is that my pay should be going through the next stage, but the board meet this week to decide on whether or not to award the pay - if they do increase it, then this would have changed all the figures, so may be they are waiting for that?
  • Hi ladies!!

Hope everyone is well. Congratulations to alioops and Mrs C!! :j Hope you're having lots of fun with your bundles of joy!

DS is having his tea so managed to grab 5 mins on here.

2 and a half days left at work for me then maternity starts. Got my pre op assessment a week on Wednesday then Thursday 6th is the big day!! Will probably feel better about it all when the decorators have finished the bedroom, we always leave it too late :o

Had some good news today though, DH has been to see his Warrant Officer and the Navy are allowing him to come home a week on Tuesday and then he doesn't have to go back till 4th January!!! Not only is that amount of paternity leave brilliant and will allow me to get into a routine for when he goes back to 2 months away at a time but it will also be the baby's first Christmas and the first time DS will have mummy and daddy both there on Christmas day :D

Hope you're all doing well and the bumps are being well behaved!

Huge congrats MrsC and Alioops! Enjoy your baby cuddles xxxxxx
  • That's great news Northern78 - it'll be great to have DH home for so long

Glad you liked your pictures tia86 :)

loveactually, yes, HR wrote to me confirming the date I was going on leave - quite a surprise for them to get something right!

Hello again Estateprincess - nice to hear baby has a good little routine. Mine is very active, but the kicks have never hurt, like some people report - maybe I have that to look forward to!

Still no word on my maternity cover, and keep getting new tasks to do, even though my chances of finishing my existing list before I go are pretty slim! I'm really going to have to start saying no....
