  • Mr_k..... Glad to see you're signed off. You maybe don't want to be, I know I didn't, but it was the only thing that ensured I got the rest I needed and could get myself back into a better place mentally. I've been off for 9 weeks and it's gone in a flash!

AFM.....I got my show tonight, keeping my fingers crossed that things move quite quickly now!

Hoping things are starting to move along for you :)

I have made chicken stew tonight :) my fav, just need to throw in the dumplings later. Do you find it freezes ok? I find the potatoes go mushy when they are reheated. If anyone has any good suggestions of freezable foods then let me know.

I have to say I am not feeling great. Been to m/w for blood as iron is really low. My other ailments are painful and getting worse :( right decision to be off. I have popped to work with sick note and seen the boss.

Hubby got the scales out too, wish I hadn't got on lol. Mind you midwife thinks this baby is a big boy. Scary. I hope not too big.

Any news mrs c? Hope everyone else is ok.
  • I don't cook the potatoes in the stew we have mash on side sometimes when I use the frozen batch I put in dish in oven with par boiled potatoes bunged in or even tinned potatoes.

My plans for freezer once half term over n mum has visited are

Bolognese - pasta cooked fresh at time
Lasanga - can have with salad garlic bread
Sausage pasta bakes - again with salad n garlic bread
Beef stew - potatoes n green beans or cabbage done fresh on day
    Beef hot pot
Chicken ham mushroom n leek pies
    Bbq sausage casserole
    Cottage pie
    Cowboy pie

Got to get some foil trays as makes life easier.
We also use the Pyrex freezer to oven dish they are oblong n have a plastic lid so easy to stack in freezer.
    Bolognese goes in plastic pots

Timeflies - hope the replacement for you at work is more successful than mine - still got no one to replace me!! There is still 5 weeks until I go, but would be nice to know if I did go early there was someone waiting to take over.

Mr Knight - hope you are resting and being off helps

Freebie - I was wondering if it was worth going to Sainsburys or not. May have a look. You must have a large freezer!! My boyfriend and I are now very good cooks, we have now mastered cottage pie and bolognese, but think that will be all we manage! Hope you are having a fun half term with your little one

Mrs C hope you have some news for us soon!

I am exhausted, though 2 days left until half term. Last antenatal class tonight, am a bit worried as ours were quite early as have gone to the NCT one, and this one had the most suitable dates. Wondering if people will keep in touch, I don't know if its me being paranoid but it seemed like others were chatting more to each other and also are due next month rather than December. This is one of my main worries that I won't have any friends as not going to the NHS classes as they were at inconvenient times.

MrsC - hope everything moves along smoothly for you.

shorty1978 and tia86 - when are you both going on mat leave? Mine is from the start of December, and I have a few days holiday, so it's about 20 days left at work. My job is similar to yours shorty1978, in that everyone on the team has their own things they look after - no-one else on the team knows the background to the things I look after, so I'm hoping to have a good long handover with my cover person. The approval for the vacancy is still stuck with some far off senior bod, who has never met anyone on the site, let alone knows what we do, so I very much doubt my cover will be in place from the start of November as planned.

Some good ideas for filling the freezer freebiequennie _ I'll be doing some of those, plus veg chilli and lots of soups - when I get round to it!

Mr_knight, no wonder you're not feeling great. Sounds like you're really going through it, so nothing to do but try to relax and do what you can to feel better.

Tia86, have you got contact details for the folk in your NCT class? Our midwife passed a piece of paper round for everyone to add their details, then I sent everyone an email saying did they want to join a private facebook group for the class. Given we only had two classes, we barely knew anyone's names, but around half the class have joined up, and we've planned to meet up soon. We don't know many people where we live, so it will be nice if some of the class want to stay in touch.
  • We have a chest Freezer in garage n fridge freezer inside although when had ds just had a fridge freezer was a big freezer though although the foil trays we used were oblong shaped n enough for 2 with added veg/salad/pasta/garlic bread so stacked well.

A good tip while both of u r off together eat main meal at lunchtime and then makes the grabbing something in eve more acceptable rather than thinking from 6-9pm while baby cluster feeds I still haven't eaten dinner - although I got to be a dab hand at one handed eating - I like my food too much :)

Hi all... sorry have been awol for a bit. Still working (insert large sigh here) with only 3.5 weeks to go until EDD. It's crazy I know but just have to get on with it. Knackered and sore and insert all other things here but hey ho it is what it is...

Anyway, can't really complain at all so moan over! Allowed to have a wee whinge I guess so don't feel too guilty.

Anyway, leave officially starts this Friday so will have lots of time to catch up with everyone on here.

A quick question however, trying to source a mattress for a moses basket we were kindly given.

Can find all manner of mattresses however can't really find reviews about the mattresses themselves. Can anyone give advice about what sort of mattress to look out for or they recommend?

edit gosh sorry lilmissreading just read about your great news! Huge congratulations to you and glad everything sounds ok. 22 hours tho bless sounds like an ordeal. Really pleased for you xx

has anyone heard from Alioops? I see she was due to be induced 19th?
  • Mattress needs to be an exact fit with no gaps around edge I have used matreess online just Google them they do made to measure n have good reviews I have used them when Ds was baby n again this time.
