  • Congratulations littlemiss n good luck mrs c.

My first official day of annual leave/maternity leave. Took ds 4yrs to cinema this morning as its half term here.

Also nipped in aldi n got a nursing bra for 6.99 and twinpack of huge full briefs for 1.99 (were 2.99) would have got more but last set black in my sz loads white n pink though I just want them for after for over section wound.

I did get some full briefs in asda yesterday for 4.50 for pk 4 n they seem large not sure how high up they will come.

Either way about same price as disposable ones for a few weeks use n can be binned after if no longer usable.

Congratulations lilmissreading! Brilliant news :j The only Idris I've heard of is Idris Elba - great name :)

Wow, 22hrs, I'm so not ready for that. All this talk of sweeps and Caesareans - it's all getting very real. I'm so squeamish, I don't really like to hear about any bodily tissue, never mind anything painful...

Anyway, hope your sweep goes well today Mrs C!

Hope your mat leave is as restful as it can be with a 4 year old freebiequennie!

tia86, we're planning some baby shopping next weekend, I have a long list for my mothercare 10% off voucher, but I agree, I'm going to be facing suitcase sized proportions when I come up with a hospital bag list!

A good tip I had this weekend was once I decide what needs packing, get OH to pack it, as he's the one that will be rummaging through the bag to find things in hospital when I ask for something!

My cold & backache kept me up most of the night; hoping for a good sleep tonight so I can face work tomorrow. Can't believe you're not even allowed lemsip, never mind night nurse (the pharmacist sounded horrified "in your third trimester? lady, all you can have is hot drinks and steam!"

Had my last mw appt and had a sweep with an overall score of 5 and being 1-2cm dilated. Managed to get booked in on Saturday night for induction on Sunday if nothing happens on our own (there was no space but apparently it was the 'nice' consultant on and she gave me the weekend instead of waiting until next week). Midwife reckons we might go within the next 48 hours due to the position, length, and softness of the cervix. Just got to wait and see now.
Been trying to keep myself active when all I want to do is sleep!!! Now bouncing away on the ball and it's going to be interesting trying to cross stitch at the same time. Not sure my concentration levels are up to it!

Oooooh how exciting- we will be hoping to hear some wonderful news soon- good luck and hope everything goes well.

I'm 31 weeks tomorrow - and have my whooping cough and flu jabs on Thursday.
I have my maternity cover at work now and that situation is making me pretty anxious. I just wish I could go on leave now.

Hello to everyone else- hope you are all ticking along nicely :)

Congrats little miss. Sounds like it won't be long mrsc, exciting times.

Well I have just been signed off work, wasn't expecting it. Saw consultants last week and go Friday. Was told to rest more but was ok. Midwife today has sternly told me that's it, no more work. I had to agree when she described a few things to me

    Back to midwife tmr now.

    Hope everyone else is ok.

Hope you're taking it easy mr_knight.

I'll be thinking of you Mrs C - hope the next few days go well for you :)

Shorty1978 - how is your cover person getting on? I need to find out how the recruitment of mine is going - we expect them to start on 3 Nov, so not long now!

She is getting on very well- It's just that the practical side of my job is very difficult to teach as a day to day kinda job. I'm an accountant so it's all monthly reporting and preparing for that- not just come in an do this etc- Plus we only have my desk space- I can't sit over the girl all day I would hate that if it was the other way around, but my boss won't consider me working from another station.

My main problem is my boss- she has absolutely no concept of people skills, is very rude and upset me quite a bit yesterday. Unfortunately I don't stand up for myself very well ( I need to improve this) so she walks all over me and everyone else in my office. We don't have HR and her manager is absolutely lovely but so very very soft that it's pointless to speak to him. I'm just riding out the next 5.3 weeks ( counting down ;)) and then potentially going to consdier my options about coming back. I may look for a fresh start elsewhere when the time comes.

Hope you are resting up mr_knight. Listen to the midwife :)
  • Mr_k..... Glad to see you're signed off. You maybe don't want to be, I know I didn't, but it was the only thing that ensured I got the rest I needed and could get myself back into a better place mentally. I've been off for 9 weeks and it's gone in a flash!

AFM.....I got my show tonight, keeping my fingers crossed that things move quite quickly now!
