I have very intense BH, I have had them (mildly) from 16 weeks. Mine have patterns and last time some were painful. They are making me struggle to do things as they really stop me in my tracks.

I could also fill my days on mat leave, can't wait for it to arrive :)

lilmissreading, you can freeze crumble topping in one big container - I do that in a big tupperware tub. It still comes out all crumbly (sometimes have to poke it a bit but it's usually fine - depends on how well I have mixed the fat in!)

lilmissreading - a freezer bag works fine for crumble topping too - you can just get some out of the bag like you would frozen peas or something.

shorty1978 - don't stand for being made uncomfortable - heavily pregnant staff should have a proper desk to sit at, not be squeezed in around someone else! Do you have a health and safety or HR person you can raise this with, if your line manager is so unsympathetic? I work in a dangerous industry, so health and safety overrides *everything* at work, but any employer has a duty of care to you to make sure you're working safely.

sweetpotato - hope all goes well with the midwife tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice- We don't have a HR person as such but I can go above my boss if necessary. I'm waiting to see how it all pans out- I just can't see how it will work with me still being here for another 6-7 weeks. I'm sure my boss hasn't thought it through properly. I think she thinks I'll be doing the archiving but I'm not carrying heavy files all round the office.

Nice little haul at Mothercare for you- especially for the choc :)

sweetpotato- Hope today goes ok- let us know how you get on.

I've started to be a bit more thoughtful about how to fill my time on maternity leave- I do have an exam in December- so I guess revision should take up at least a week of it!
  • 39+1 today and I'm booked in with consultant on Monday, then midwife the following Monday as she's on holiday next week. Getting a sweep that day if I've not gone myself but still don't think this baby is showing any signs of wanting to move. Also got flu jab on Tuesday.
Mum and stepdad still here and still decorating :D and I'm still getting in the way. The will be finished tonight and heading home tomorrow, then Dad and stepmum arriving Monday and going home Tuesday. They didn't say it in as many words but I think they're bringing the crib up as she was talking on the phone last week about what bedding I want for it etc. they haven't yet told me that they've got it back from my little sister so just assuming that's why they're coming.

The house is in complete uproar because of the decorating and I just keep looking round wondering where I'm going to start when it's done and I need to get it back into some sort of order. It's not going to be easy!

  • Hello ladies!!! :hello:

Just thought I'd pop by and say hello to you all. I'm currently 35 +2 with number 2 and really starting to feel it. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes so am currently on medication and suffering with the most horrendous heartburn.

DH works away from home so I've got my 2 year old to look after and I have to say I'm feeling a bit guilty. My hormones seem to be up and down at the min and I seem to tell him off for the slightest thing, he's such a good boy too, well apart from the typical 2 year old tantrums.

I had my home visit on Monday and the midwife measured my bump, she did say that a scan would be far more accurate but said from her measurements I was already way off the scale!! She reckons baby already weighs about 8lb if not more.

I was asked to take part in some research by Sheffield University into the effects of gestational diabetes on the growth and development of a baby's brain so have been lucky to have some MRI scans of baby. Have to go back for my final one on Tuesday, not sure if you've ever seen an MRI scan of a baby but it's amazing, they can't print photos like at a normal scan but they let me record the video on my phone. It's also very reassuring as the world’s leading consultant on baby brain development is checking my baby's scan, seems quite strange too that it will be used to research and give lectures on whilst the continue to look for ways of preventing diabetes affecting the baby.

Also got a normal sizing scan on Thursday and then my appointment with the diabetes consultant, they've said they'll give me a date then for either induction or c section. Works out quite well for us as it means DH can ensure he is home for the birth.

I hope everyone else is having a good last few weeks of it and you all have happy, healthy deliveries!
  • :hello: northern78! There's a list somewhere about if you fancy.

Blimey, I can't imagine how hard it is to be pg, looking after someone else and having GD, but effectively being a single parent with DH away. I have nothing but respect for you as I sit here eating chocolate with my feet up. It's nice to hear there is a good side in a way to having the GD for you because of the extra, unique pictures :D

Had my extra special wrangled MW appt at home today which was really helpful. Gonna get a sweep next week on 17/10 - like MrsC my little bundle of trouble is not showing any interest in the outside world. We have a part time (Monday to Friday) lodger so giving birth at home over the weekend would be very convenient!

BTW thanks for the crumble advice! It was already in a full tupperware so just chucked it in as it.

Randomly, have a load of homegrown beetroot. Got a chutney recipe I like so that's ok but they are all sorts of sizes including smaller ones - do I really have to peel them do you think? Didn't peel the carrots and squash for the chutney I made earlier in the week . Just being lazy ;) sorry, time efficient I mean.

Timeflies - I am jealous of your goodies - I wanted a baby grow (ignoring the fact I have masses of baby clothes)

Welcome Northern - how interesting to be part of a research project, hope baby doesn't keep you waiting too long at that size!

MrsC - hope the house is organised before the baby, good luck with the sweep

Am 30 weeks today, seems scary to think it is only 10 left. Though will be busy as 7 of those will still be at work.
My doctors have a flu clinic drop in session tomorrow morning, so may go and join all the old folks in waiting to get that done. Also now booked the whooping cough vaccine for in a couple of weeks when I am on half term so that if I do feel rough afterwards it doesn't matter and I can just laze around. Appointment madness at the moment as Tuesday going to the hospital about my gum problem. Every week seems to be an appointment of some kind at the moment!

Btw Asda have 20% off online on nursery and baby clothes - the link was shared on the facebook group but don't think it has been mentioned here. I have ordered some sheets though still don't know how to make a baby bed!
  • Hi lilmissreading, tia86!

Yes I'm hoping they decide to deliver baby sooner rather than later, I keep thinking my waters are going to go at anytime. Doesn't help wearing maternity clothes either, don't know if it's just me or if others feel the same but Next under the bump jeans just seem to squash everything up. Won't be sad to see the back of them.

To be fair apart from the GD I've had a really good pregnancy, never suffered with morning sickness with either baby although as well as GD medication im on aspirin for preeclampsia. I'm popping that many pills at the minute I must rattle when I walk, well waddle!

Sorry to butt in, I'm on the 12-24 am thread but like reading here to prepare myself! :rotfl:

lilmissreading when I made beetroot chutney last year I part cooked the beetroots then they were really easily to just rub the skin off. I then cooked the other chutney ingredients and added the beetroot later on so it didn't go too soft. Peeling them before is a big pain! HTH I'm back off to the other thread now ;)
