  • Ladies can I ask for some advice on braxton hicks?

I woke up this morning and for 2 1/2 hours had pains that I couldn't talk through every 20 minutes lasting for 30-45 seconds, they didn't go away when I got up or when I went in the bath.

I was a little worried as I'm only 32 weeks but everything I've read about braxton hicks tells you there is no pattern.

Anyway they went away but now I've got lower back and bump ache l, tried ringing midwife and got no answer and rang MAU who told me I have a urine infection and to get appointment with GP (I did and I haven't got an infection)

Has anyone else experienced this with braxton hicks?

Thanks in advance and sorry for jumping in :D

Sorry sweetpotato - I can't help, as I haven't experienced BH yet. Hopefully someone nearer their due date and wiser can!

Toooldforthis, my midwife said I could take all the day's iron tablets at once, or space them out, it made no difference, if that helps you get all your tablets in the day! So I take all my iron tablets at lunch with juice, so it doesn't stop me getting morning cereal and a cuppa! If they make you constipated, do get your midwife & pharmacist to recommend something for you - 600 is a hefty dose; I found lactulose made me feel loads more comfortable - been taking it for a few days now.

What did you get in your goody bag from mothercare? Ironically you and tia86 mentioning it meant I looked it up just now and it turns out our local one is on tomorrow,so I signed us up. We still need to buy a car seat and a crib, so if we can get 10% off those it's worth going!

shorty1978 - surely your cover is not nicking your desk before you've left? My boss is just placing the ad for my cover this week.

view that chair looks very like one I sat in in mothercare - it was super comfy! I'm hoping we might be able to fit one in the house somewhere! I thought it would be great for night feeds, but after what you said lilmissreading I'm thinking it would great for pregnancy aches too.:D

Also meant to say (my brain can't fit all these posts in) alioops78 - how sweet DH has saved up 3 weeks leave to add to his paternity leave - bless!:A
  • I will be 34weeks when I finish work if it wasn't half term here early I would have done another week but seemed silly to get childcare for half term for 4yr old n will be nice to have that week with him. I saved 4weeks of annual leave and then start mat leave the week my section is booked in for.

Yeah sadly that is the case- We have no spare desks in our office so I'm going to be just sitting by the side "supervising". It's going to be awful. Plus my boss is the least supportive pregnancy employer ever so I think she is relishing the opportunity to make me feel excluded.
Thankfully I have wonderful baby thoughts to distract me.

No BH for me yet either so I can't advise sweetpotato. They sound a bit daunting though so will be interested to read any repsonses that you get.

How lovely freebiequennie - not long for you now. Am feeling envious of everyone on mat leave- although I was off sick the other day and was absolutely bored- I'm going to have to make sure I find something to fill my time.
  • Oooh, terrible internet woes :( anyhoo seems better now (but still VERY slow)

Alioops - i am a little jealous you have a date! Would be nice to know. Mine could be safely ensconced when you have yours. As it is a full moon tonight we are giving expressing, DTD, massage, relaxing and i will do a bit of sideways stair walking :rotfl: Have been going through lots of ups and downs re giving birth. Was fine about it but now frightened again. Luckily DH is being very helpful and calming.

Spending the day researching second items like sleep bras, slings and playnests. Going to finish christmas wrapping I hope. Have a bath. Make some beetroot chutney. Put away home grown carrot and coriander soup. Research how to freeze uncooked crumble topping (in portions? Will it freeze as a lump or can I freeze it all together and take what I need?) Chill out with a movie.

Just heard my brother has been dumped and they have been together longer than me and DH. Poor beggar.

MrsC - I LOVE carrot cake. nom nom nom

Freebiequeenie - I know those days where you have food that only needs re-heating and even that seems more effort than I have to give and I don't have a LO! Hope chippy dinner was good.

Mr Knight and Shorty - I have no idea how I spend my day but they seem to speed by. Laundry, dishwasher, cooking, going shopping little and often, meeting people for coffee, napping, daytime TV, finding baby bargains, opticians, hair cut, dentist, oven fixed, tidying generally, christmas present wrapping, lazy daisy class, NHS classes, hydro etc. I love mat leave and week 3 is still good fun :D However I am definitely on leave, not sick. Sick leave is boring - hopefully you will feel well enough to do stuff.

Timeflies - I am the queen of the position change at the moment, so that chair gives more options.

Sweet potato - I have not had any BH that I am aware of yet, sorry.

  • Thanks to all that read my woeful post!

I've spoken to the midwife who was really angry the MAU fobbed me off, she doesn't seem to think it's anything to worry about and has gave me an appoinrmt to see her tomorrow but if anything happens in the mean time I must go to MAU.

Apparently I was right in that BH aren't usually as strong as what I'm experiencing and they usually don't have a regular pattern like mine. Got pains now but no pattern so I've made the panicked decision of packin a hospital bag just in case! I'm a bit freaked out haha!

Hope everyone else is well and I will post back on what happens tomorrow if no one minds :D
  • Oh sweet potato bless you, come back and chat any time.

Glad your mw is listening to you.
