Con, I have very very thick and wavy hair so I hoped not to wash it at the hospital. However after the labour I was covered in gunk on my chest, exhausted and clammy from the effort of pushing for 1 hr 25 mins, sore and bleeding below plus my hubbie had been stroking my head as encouragement so it looked back combed!!!! I was walked into the shower after the stitches and realised I had no shampoo or conditioner! Typical as I had a whole labour bag full of things I never used due to progressing fast and furious, I was still wearing my bra and top. So I washed my hair with face wash and had an awful frizzy mass of hair for 2 days.
Also I thought maternity knickers would have padding but they didn't and were too tight, so normal knickers with the pads were best.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
That reminds me to check Ive packed shampoo and conditioner, Im sure I put some travel size ones in the other day but will double check.
Ive bought some disposable pants but also going to get some just normal biggish pants that I dont mind chucking afterwards.
My friend told me something she wished she had packed, was some kind of small cup or jug to put water in, for when she needed to change the baby in hospital as she was in overnight. She said she had her cotton wool but when she went to ask the midwives for something to put water in, they told her to go to the main desk but when she got there (hobbling along with her stitches) she couldnt see anything, and it was just a pain to be walking around just to find something to put water in!0 -
I have mini shampoo just incase and also got a jig as recommend by a friend
I've bought some big normal pants from asda I do have the disposable ones but they don't feel very nice on. Have put
In a shower cap if I'm not washing my hair. Just remembered I haven't packed a towel so will get that in tomorrow. I'll definately forget something but there's a 24 hour tesco a 5 min walk away so can send someone out of it's something I need0 -
Ps my friend recommended the jug for doing a wee, she said it stops the sting if you pour some cool water over there, especially if you have had stitches0

I used a jug - poured water down when I wee'd otherwise it stung.
I must get another jug.....3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

Hi ladies
Don't forget an eye mask. I just had one that you get on planes...so glad I took it. Even though they dim the lights in the bay, they leave the corridor lights on full and the nearer the bay door you were, the lighter it was!
I found it was just nice to close your eyes in darkness as I hate seeing light through my eyelids when trying to sleep.Proud mummy to an amazing 8 year old!0 -
I've had my bloody show! :j Never thought I'd be so happy to see something so gross! :rotfl:
Good tip about the jug, will pack a little one as it'll come in useful for peeing and carting water around for nappy changes.Eyemask and earplugs were first things to be packed since I can't sleep without them at home!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Oh Birdie that is exciting!
I've not gone to my parents today as mum is working so after being there for 40minutes I'd have been alone with nothing to do! So I've stayed here - got a load of laundry on and about to tidy up baby's room a little (need to find a home for all these knitted bits we've been given!) then make some scones :-)
Off to my friends party tonight - its to celebrate their engagement and their beautiful daughters second birthday so will nip and buy a couple of bits for them on the way as I didn't get chance during the week (did remember cards though!)
Not sure where to put all these knitted bits as we've run out of hangers now. Thinking of popping them in one of the changer drawers for now, or the empty basket in there. Got a play mat to finish making too but may save that for mat leave.
Cant remember if i mentioned bf and midwife now think I'm crazy trying to work up until two weeks before the due date and have asked me to consider an extra week annual leave before it (already have one week booked so technically only start leave the Monday of the week baby is due on the friday). I have plenty of leave to do that and now I'm considering it too as I have so much less work to do that on work days I'm ending up finished by midday and so just sit there in the afternoons/do tiny jobs that don't really matter or sit with me! It was funny as bf discussed it with me then the midwife called me up about the same thing. Do love our midwife :-). She's amazing so glad we got a 'forever' one before the due date the standard of care I've received has increased dramatically************************************
