Oh Aunty Pickle (great name) I remember those hideous days well.
I am afraid I only started turning the corner aorund 15/16 weeks when it become not daily. By 20 weeks it had mostly lifted. I stopped taking folic acid when I finished my bottle (well into 2nd trimester) and my tummy problems improved greatly. It did decrease in intensity however.
My main trigger appeared to be tiredness and smells. For example I felt sick but was not acutally sick until my second trimester when i threw up 3 times after 15 weeks! The reason being because i felt better I thought i could do the following:
a) brush the back of my teeth
b) put something in the bin
c) empty the clean dishwasher
Crazy ideas I have
Hopefully you might have some triggers you can avoid too. I became obssessed with bottlegreen ginger and something cordial because it was flat rather than fizzy like ginger beer. Also I craved plain, startchy carbs anything in breadcrumbs, something toasted with butter, salt and vinegar anything, ice cream etc. My diet was pretty poor and I put on a fair amount in the early days but fortunately it has evened out now. It was hard sometimes as I got sick when hungry but was also too sick to feel hungry but eating little and often really did help me. It's good practise for later when there is no space.
Other people did lose weight on the pg thread but everyone is ok now. Sadly at this point in your pg they are unlikely to offer any treatment unless you are unable to keep fluids down and become dehydrated. I would mention it to your mw at the booking in appointment in case she has bright ideas.
Some people have worn travel sickness bands.
Depending on your work (if you do) whether you are able to do some or any of the following:
a) start later
b) work from home for any period of time
c) finish earlier
d) come home to nap
e) ring in sick
Good luck - it does get easier for the majority of people.Met DH to be 2010

Thanks lillmiss
Smells are definitely a trigger! I've had to ask OH to remove the air freshener things from the bathroom!!!
Yes it's so weird being kind of hungry and sick at the same time! I'll get a ginger biscuit (which I like - honest!) and try and nibble at it but it just seems wrong!!!! Like my brain thinks I'm trying to eat a book or something! :rotfl:
I'm better when I'm distracted so watching a film is good - or at work (I'm a secretary and fortunately only work mornings so can sleep in the afternoons!) I can happily sip a drink but I still struggle to eat anything. Luckily my OH is being really supportive and generally lovely!
My mum mentioned wearing elastic bands round the wrists which I guess is the same kind of thing as travel bands!! (probably the equivalent back in "her day"!)Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -

Loveactually wrote: »Hi ladies,
Can I join all of you. I reached my 24 week today and so excited and scared at same time.
I am due on 14th December, but according to consultant it might be a bit early as I am an IVF pregnancy and they don't want to go more than my due date going to have regular scans at 28,32 and 36 weeks and if anything is amiss they will induce me immediately:eek:
Have all of you ladies bought your prams. I was just looking at some over the weekend and I liked the uppababy vista anyone bought that or used it?
All the best time2deal and teacake
Well seems I could have joined here a week ago. Thought I was 24 weeks tomorrow but actually I am 25. I clearly lost a week somewhere.
I am the same love actually and under the consultant having extra growth scans. Not IVF just a "high risk" pregnancy. I have a heart condition which is very very minor but flares up during pregnancy. My medication doesn't seem to be working as well.
As for prams I have mine from last time which I love but I have just bought a mammas and papas armadillo. I love this too, it's so easy to fold and will be great for travelling. My original one is an off-rodeo but quite large.
Will have a read through xxx0 -
welcome Loveactually, Amileigh & Mr Knight, it all gets a bit real here eek but we will try to help where possible.
Loveactually sorry I don't have any experience with the pram you're looking at but I'm sure someone will have.0 -

Hi Mr Knight and Amileigh. I've got a date twin now, yay!
Bad day today, terrible nights sleep last night, I'm really disturbing (and not just my snoring!) hubby now as every time I move or huff and puff he cuddles me in which is nice but at the same time I'm conscious that he's not resting either. I was up at 0450 and thought that was me.
Back to work and asked what I was doing now, boss was of the opinion that I was to keep travelling to the other site til I finish up. I cracked up again and told him various things and he said I was to go to the doc. The stubborn side of me came out and I said no, I'd go to the other site and see how I got on with the driving today. I made it 20 miles before I phoned the doc.
Went in this afternoon and he immediately signed me off with a view to eliminating things and hoping to see there is no underlying depression. I've to be back and forward frequently over the next 2 weeks when he will give me my next line. My maternity leave will now start automatically at 36 weeks.
Home from work, fed, changed, and now on the sofa contemplating the next few weeks/months.
After starting the day so positively aswell thinking I had only 17 days to go and I was going to get through it.No longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000 -
Mrs C I was the same, didn't want to get a sicknote from the doctors but it was in hindsight the best thing that I did. don't try to go back before you're ready. I have also had my maternity leave imposed at 36 weeks and I've accepted that now as being for the best.0

Thanks LT. I know he won't let me go back and he's wanting to keep an eye on me pretty closely which I understand. It's a relief to be finished now to be honest, laptop locked away at work, same with company credit card, still have my phone but that's getting turned off, and I think the only thing I have to do are my expenses which will take 2 minutes and the boss gets them by email to approve.
Trying to piece together a reasonably priced train journey to mums to get away from it all for a bit but don't know if I'll manage as I hate being away without hubbyNo longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000
