Sewit, I've gone through the denial stage as well, specially as my bump took so long to start materialising.
I'm waiting for our travel system to be delivered today, and then that's us officially done, if we haven't got it by now then we won't have it. Must sort out my hospital bag though, now that's something I'm in denial about!

    Good luck credit!!

GTT is 30 bmi for me too, and for us old ladies. :) I'm 37, and was 31 bmi at booking in. Passed it no worries. I really believe you can be pretty healthy and overweight. (Although I'm hardly a shining example!)

I'll annoy you by saying im feeling fairly ready with stuff for the baby. Even had a hospital bag done for a few months due to early delivery worries. Dh had surprised me again by finding anther list and realising I've not got health things, like calpol and first aid stuff, so he is sorting that. Got to love him!

Yeah we have pretty much everything now too. I have started washing baby clothes and blankets :)

Question - we are going away for a week tomorrow, just within the UK. I am 32 weeks. Do you think I need to take a hospital bag? There is no reason to think I would go into premature labour, but equally it won't do any harm having it sat in the boot of the car. Or is it silly overkill?!
  • Daisi - I would for peace of mind. Definitely take your notes anyway. I've just started carrying mine around with me just in case.

Sewit - LD by us is six weeks, but they might be able to do less than that if you want? I would contact the person running it and ask. Good to see all going well for you :)

View - RE pets. We have our cats since 2002 when we first moved in together and they are part of the family. I am also worrying about what will happen when baby comes, I already feel guilty for thinking about shutting them out of the bedroom at night when we're sleeping. TBH I don;t have any advice, I'm just going to see what happens and try to give them the same love I give them now so they don't feel left out. They were here first! (though ask me again when baby's born and it might be a different matter :) )

I would Daisie. Just chuck in the boot so you can forget about it. I bought it with me for our one night away.

I think I will. What about baby things (don't have any nappies/clothes/blankets etc in my hospital bag yet) - thinking if baby is born at 32 weeks she will be in special care and not need normal nappies/clothes etc? So maybe just make sure I have things for me?

I have a set of newborn stuff and a blanket. But you are right, they would look after her for a while. Mainly its stuff for me, and a list of extras to add later. Like iPad and charger. Plenty of toiletries, like moisturiser, lip balm etc that make life in hospital easier.

    We have bought so far

3 x Vests to start the wee one off
    A few sleep suits
    A few play/day suits
    Socks
A couple of other pieces of clothing
4 packs of nappies (170 altogether) on special at Tesco
A tummy/play mat that was on special from Amazon
We've received a few toys already
    Baby wipes
A woolly winter bear suit (don't ask, OH bought it!!)
    Muslin cloths
    Baby wash
    Baby clothes wash

That's pretty much it. So we're not that organised. We're going to be given a Moses basket and bath support kit. Will buy steriliser bottles and one small milk powder tin (in case) (we have been promised a steriliser kit), some nappy creams and the buggy will be purchased over next two or so weeks.

Sure we'll get another few things however don't forget the shops will be open the day/week/month after you give birth! Piece of advice I'm following is just to get what you need to start you off.

Lol View it must be the aussie connection and gotta say after the train rescue yesterday at Stirling it made me a very proud sandgroper.

RMR as explained the GTT is glucose tolerance test, in the UK it's if your BMI is over 31. The annoying thing is that none of my regular checks with the midwife/consultants have shown any indication of gestational diabetes it's just cos I'm considered 'fat' by the NHS. My blood pressure is always spot on and my urine is normal.

I'm also another one that strips as soon as I get home or sooner if my bra is really bothering me. Yesterday after I got home from the torture I took off my bra, changed into pyjama bottoms and worked like that. I even went and picked hubby up from work, it was heaven :rotfl:

Credit hope you're having baby cuddles by now but a shame that you're going to miss out on your friends wedding however I'm sure she won't mind at all.

Sewit you're a few days ahead of me as I have my 28 week mw appointment on Monday. Did you ask about NHS antenatal classes or did the mw mention them to you? We can't afford the NCT / Lazy Daisy classes so really want to get booked in as soon as possible.

Daisi enjoy your week away and I second (third/fourth lol) what the others have said, take your notes and a bag with you for piece of mind.

I think I need to go through and sort out what we actually have clothes wise and double check that we're on the right track with them.

Feeling a bit annoyed with the state of the house at the moment and just wish I could wave a magic wand and have it all sorted out and deep cleaned. I might contemplate getting a cleaner in to do the bathroom then I can keep on top of that at least. Maybe if I get a cleaner to do one room a week while I'm off hubby will think I'm a great housewife :rotfl:.

Booked my annual leave today so I officially finish work on the 19 September now with maternity starting from the 20 October. My line manager suggested getting my bags sorted now as she finished on the Friday and had had her boy on the Saturday, she didn't even have the room ready.

Hubby is working on Sunday so will get our bedroom ready for the cotbed to be built and might even attempt it myself as he's useless at DIY but will see how I'm feeling. He's also away with work Tuesday to Wednesday so will have some quiet time then too.
