They won't necessarily monitor you for reduced movement at 24 weeks (though I guess some nice midwives might do it to put your mind at ease!). The guidelines from the RCOG are to monitor from 28 weeks onwards. Just thought I would point that out so people would be aware. At 24 weeks the guidelines are just to establish that there is a heartbeat and send the lady on her way.

I had a scan at 26 weeks after a few days of no movement - everything was absolutely fine (it would not be normal procedure to get a scan for reduced movement at that stage but because I have had bleeding too they were scanning me anyway). I have figured out that it is normal for my baby to have a few really quiet days a week. She still does now at 30 weeks. Some days she is just very lazy and that is normal for her. But I suppose it is about figuring out what is/isn't normal for you. You should always seek advice if you are worried (as I did!) even if you are only 24 weeks, at least they can listen to the heartbeat to reassure you.

I have just got back from the MFAU. Had to go in due to very bad swelling of hands and feet, and a nasty headache. They found my blood pressure is high, but blood and urine tests for pre eclampsia were fine. I was put on monitoring for 30 mins and baby's heart rate and movements are great, but weirdly I am contracting every 4 mins - but I can't feel them! They kept saying 'are you sure you can't feel that?' and I really couldn't. Apparently as long as I can't feel anything it is fine, but it is weird as BH are not meant to be regular and frequent. I came home because the doctor said I could either stay in and be monitored or come home and go back if anything changes/gets worse....I found that weird as I would rather just be told what is the best thing to do, but as we only live 10 mins from the hospital I thought I would be better coming home and getting some proper rest in my own bed.

I think it is probably all just because of the heat. Still got a cracking headache and horrid swelling but as long as I am clear of pre eclampsia I don't mind. Just going to rest with my feet up now.
  • Take care of yourself Daisie. :) my feet look like trotters in this heat! Sat here with a bag of peas on them.

Hi all. Just an update. A few posts above I must admit did panic me a wee bit and I phoned the hospital. They said it would be a long wait however they would see me. We only had to wait about 45 minutes and the midwife found the heartbeat with no problems. She said it's not hugely normal to feel constant movement when you're 24 weeks.

    Relief, will sleep tonight! :-)

I think this is going to be my little girl to be's case as well. Some days quiet, some days not. Very relieved now! Thank you for your advice x

I hope you feel better daisiegg, sounds like you've been through a lot.

    Evening ladies

Hugs T2D, hope things are better today.

Daisie hugs to you too and hoping you feel better soon.

    Welcome view

Need to catch up on the rest of the thread so apologies if I've missed anyone but hoping you are all well.

I've had a stressful week with moving as those on fb will know but it's all finalised and definitely happening on Monday, exactly 2 weeks before my due date! Hubby and I have spent the last couple of days packing and we are almost done. Because of us being messed about so much these estate agents are now sorting the removals for us rather than DH and family having to do it so that is a result.
Fear I may have overdone it a bit yesterday though as at one point I sat down for a wee and couldn't get up because of shooting pains across the front but luckily it stopped and no more of that today.
  • Glad you have been reassured View. Hope I didn't panic you too much, I find official guidelines weirdly reassuring! I knew that Daisie had had similar a few weeks ago and the advice given was they're not that concerned prior to 28 weeks but thought posting the guidelines would be better as obvs I'm not Daisie! :) As long as you know your normal (and that really is the key part of it all) and go with your gut you'll be fine. :)

Also thanks for the pampers tip! I've decided not to cloth nappy from birth just so I have one less thing to stress about when baby gets here so this deal was really good! Got 6 packs for £12.97 (270 nappies) as I had £8 clubcard vouchers that I didn't know about until logged into online account! 5p a nappy! Woop! :)
  • Take it easy Laila (not realistic when moving house but try and delegate as much as possible! :) )! That's how my hip/ pelvis pain started- had really sharp pains from left hip to middle of pelvis (like bad cramps) after moving around lots of things in work. Nice result on the estate agents sorting out the move though. :) exciting times! :)
