Finally ordered our nursery furniture yeaterday so need to purchase a cotbed mattress.

Can any one recommend a good one?

I haven't bought ours yet either. Want a good quality one that will last as its a cot bed and not just a cot, but don't want to spend money on top of the range if its not needed.
I keep watching out for offers, but then chicken out of buying! I think I'm going to go look at some (where I'm not sure yet!) and see how they feel!
 Mini me due March 2014

    Same!

Looked at few online (including a Silent Night one for £200 ) but then chicken out of buying

I think maybe I should go and have a look, might start in Mothercare and John Lewis
  • Hey Everyone

    Some advice needed :/

I have had a sharp stabbing pain in my lower abdomen on the right hand side since Sunday - I was in agony and couldn't walk / stand. My OH carried me downstairs and after some toast and a cuppa I was fine (I put it down to trapped wind) Then I had it again on Monday night / morning and again today... I am currently on anemia tables but doesn't mention this being a side affect. It only lasts around half an hour at a time but today it has been around 2 hours now, however the pain is nowhere near as severe as it was on Sunday. Could it be the baby lying on a nerve? If it is trapped wind could it still be there since Sunday?

I know should ring the Doctor but just thought i'd see if anyone else has had this first.

I just bought the most expensive mattress that was included in the kiddicare offer of buy furniture get a mattress half price. When we went in the store we also felt them as some were cheap foam ones so avoided those & made sure it was a proper spring one.

I think it may have been this one

Sorry, can't help Jen. Give the MW a call and see what they have to say. :)

I've hired a TENS from the site sjlou linked to, seemed worth the risk since it was only £21.95. Not sure if I'll like it, but if it is helpful then it will be well worth it, if not, well at least I'll know and not be wondering 'what if'. :)

We've got out mattress from M&P, went for a mid-range sprung one since the more expensive ones seemed to be focused on regulating temperature etc and we don't need that as our flat is pretty consistent with its heat. I think it's best to actually go into shops with decent sales staff (like M&P or John Lewis - I personally avoid Mothercare after a few run-ins with useless teenagers pretending to be experts!) and talk to them about your budget and requirements and they'll help you pick the right one. :)

Had a lovely day out with OH; actually left our town for the first time in this month (but still made sure we were only going to be 30 minutes from the hospital! ;)) and had lunch out and went to the cinema. Felt like such a treat after being stuck in the same place just waiting for a baby for weeks! :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

  • Hi Jen, I had really severe pain in my lower abdomen just before Christmas that at first the doc thought may have been gall stones. Turned out it was just the baby on a nerve. Lasted about three or four days but it was constant. Hope it's just that and nothing worse. Best just to give your mw or doc a call. X

Birdie which one did you get? They all look the same to me! If you got the Mama one did it come with practise pads as it says all their machines do but when you click on that one specifically it doesn't mention it. Also do you know how long the free extension is?
  • I've just had a look at that tens machine site too Claire and just ordered. I'm 37 weeks on fri so could give it a quick try when it arrives!! Or at least try it out on hubby!! :)

Hmm Ive now found this, and its not much more to buy, £25 to hire on most websites but reduced to £30.

And Ive found it even cheaper on ebay. Think I might go for it.

  • Ooh babies hurry up and come....I'm getting all excited and impatient for some baby news on here.....obviously not as impatient as all you heavily pregnant ladies must be getting though!!!

We have had some very exciting news this evening, a letter from our solicitor came and they are ready for us to go in and sign contracts and transfer our deposit for the house......we were told it probably wouldn't happen until about mid march.....!!!!! Eep!!

Only thing is going to be a bit broke for a month or two now as we had planned on having an extra month to save some cash for first house bits and now I don't think we'll have that....ah well we will find a way!!
Our first baby due 25th May 2014 :T
