Happy wedding anniversary Birdie :-) how lovely that your oh managed (/remembered) to get it off to spend with you!
Although we're not married (currently/yet) baby is due on the second anniversary of us being a couple...now that would be a good gift if she came exactly on time!

All sounds very exciting Kynthia! You do sound quite nervous/worried though - as daft as it may sound try to relax and enjoy it...OK enjoy doesn't sound like the right word but hopefully you get what I mean. And as has already been said, every contrcation brings you closer to getting to hold your baby :-)

Now I'm going to sound really weird, with all these people going in to labour I'm beginning to get rather jealous! I still have this week and three more at work and then another two until my due date so if she decides she's comfy and doesn't want to move at all it could be up to eight weeks until we finally get to hold her.

I'm also starting to feel rather possessive around some people's like a mama bear! There's loads of people I don't mind holding, in fact I want people to feel like they can, but there's some people who have started to refer to her as 'ours' (as in non relatives claiming a part of her) and it makes me feel like they want to steal her!

Speaking of holding the babe though; wheelchair rugby players are some of the most disabled athletes in the world and you get classified from 0.5 up to 3.5 'points' (with 0.5 being most disabled and 3.5 much more able) to play. Bf is a 3 and has good function but one of his GB team mates who is still quite young (in most every way) asked at the tournament if there was going to be a 'points' limited on who we will let hold her! He actually added 'so do we not get to hold her if we are a 1.5 or less?' Bless him :-P

OK now I've made myself like I have been pregnant forever with just about forever to go still I should go and get ready for work!

I get the possessive thing Lush... I feel like shouting at some people that this baby is mine and OH's, not theirs! Even our parents to a degree; I feel like they need to be reminded that I'm not just growing a lovely little toy for them to play with and show off, this is OUR CHILD. I get really irrationally annoyed whenever MIL pats her tummy and says 'I'm an expectant Nana'. That makes me sound bad but I'll blame it on the hormones!

Our 3 year wedding anniversary is in April so we reckon we wont be doing much for that lol. We had our anniversary of meeting/going out with each other back in October, and didnt do anything but weirdly it was the first time I felt the baby! It was 11 year which made us feel very old!

So Ive just realised Ive woken up with these weird orange marks on my left palm, a very slight mark on my right fingers on the palm side and a small mark on my right wrist!! I had this once before, and Im pretty sure it was from where Id been touching red peppers. But the last time I cut a pepper Im pretty sure was on Sunday so if its the same thing the reaction has taken a while to come through. Ive been googling and its really common, most people liken it to either touching red peppers, or a thyroid problem!! Ive had mine tested though but now Im paranoid something is wrong with me. I guess Ill leave it a day or too with oompa loompa hands and if its not gone by Thursday see if I can see a dr. And not touch any peppers in the mean time. Ugh.

Kynthia - so much for your midwife trying to say it was BH! I thought it sounded like more than that!

Sweep went well this morning, baby's heartbeat shot right up afterwards as the midwife had tickled his head and freaked him out! :rotfl: Just more waiting and hoping now... booked in for induction on Sunday.

Very weird about your hands Claire! Hope it clears up quickly!

Eeeek! If Smartcat, Birdie and Kynthia all have babies this week I'll be third on the list! Maybe its time to start panicking........


Its day two of mat leave and I'm trying to convince myself to do the jobs rounds the house, rather than just eat the cupboards bare and watch a movie. I think I will finish touching up the paint in DS's room (DH needs practise painting!) and bake a cake and then I will laze.

Really hope the sweep gets things going for you Birdie.
They tried one on me yesterday but cervix was closed but had cramps ever since so hope something is happeneing in there.
I'm going in to hospital at 2pm so trying to catch up on stuff.
Good luck Kynthia if these are the real thing!

Morning Ladies

Excuse my ignorance but Im hearing lots about TENS machines and am wondering if it's worth investing?

I know they provide some sort of pain relief but what do you actually do with them? :o

Sorry 27 weeks tomorrow and still have a lot to learn! x
