H ladies. Sorry I haven't been posting much. Been reading but not really had anything to say. I am struggling this week (as usual - I am a broken record). Feeling very rough physically as usual but also mentally stressing a lot, I don't know why. Even though I am signed off work I am having nightmares about work every night - things like turning up and having a new timetable that no one told me about and not having planned any of my lessons or knowing where I've got to go, etc. I suppose at least they aren't baby related nightmares! I also stress and panic every single day that I am not feeling enough movements. I have got my mind into a horrible twist about it. It doesn't help that someone on another forum I am on just lost her baby at 28 weeks, after reduced movements. Every day I worry and it consumes my mind. I feel a bit like I am going crazy. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow so I will speak to them about it.

Sending best wishes to those waiting for babies - hope they come soon! And hugs to those having a tough time.

    Hey ladies

sounds promising pommel verte keep us posted!

Thanks for the birth plan skint chick I haven't even looked at mine yet, I think I'll just wing it!

    Not long now then TCOD!

Hugs to you daisiegg I'm sorry your still struggling but hopefully speaking to your midwife will help put your mind at ease x

AFM scan was fine, she's still in the 97th percentile but she hasn't shot off the chart phew! She's moved to head down and they estimate she weighs about 6 pounds 2 oz. Unfortunately they've had to put me on metformin and they may have to move to insulin *sigh*. I have another scan in 2 weeks and at that point they'll make a decision about when to induce me between 38 and 40 weeks eek!

    hugs to all

hugs Daisie I understand about the constant worrying. I'm already worrying about going back to work next Wed, if they've had nobody do any of my work for the two weeks i'll have been off I know i'll be walking straight back into the same stress charged atmosphere with deadlines straight away, two weeks further behind and no let off. Just don't know what to do.

tcod - I'd offer hubby's help for your nursery but I'm not sure it would get done before your baby arrived, it's taken me ages to get him to get a wriggle on.

Pommevert - hope your tightenings turn into something else (like a baby)

purcy - I've got another scan at 34 weeks and hopefully then they will give me an indication of what they plan for me labour wise. I hate not being in control of everything.

Daisie - big hugs. Do you think you might have antenatal depression or anxiety? It might be worth speaking to your MW or contacting PANDAS http://www.pandasfoundation.org.uk/
They also have a closed Facebook group you can join for support. I am finding it very helpful.

    hi ladies

i've been having tightenings every 15 mins since 5am this morning which is very unusual for me ! Took a bath which didnt make them stop. But they're not painful, just uncomfortable, so i guess the wait begins !! OH panicked this morning but now he's gone out to do some digging in the garden which has calmed him down ! Really hope this is the beginning of something ... you ladies who have alreadybeen through childbirth, do you think these tightenings will transform into proper contractions ??

Sounds like labour to me! How exciting! If BH don;t stop when you move then they are usually not BH but real contractions. How are things now?
    hi all

thanks for all the birth plan info, very helpful, although the VE description has terrified me!

Sorry. That was my personal experience (as a rape survivor) but other people might be OK with them.

I managed to walk the two football fields of the park, and do asda.... so been a productive day! Ha! To think I used to work 10 hour shifts and 50 hour weeks... five weeks off and walking the dogs and shopping in asda is now my idea of productive...

I dont know how other full term ladies feel but im convinced im growing a concrete block and not a baby, my bump is so heavy....

Yes I feel heavy too, and worn out. My SPD is really bad today too so I'm just not doing much at all and OH is having to do everything while trying to work at the same time! It's your body's way of making you slow down.
Just a quick post... Need to try to sleep. Walked miles, didn't seem to help. Broke down crying in car home. So very desperately unhappy.:(

Realised that at least part of my fear of induction is due to my mums experience (me "nearly killing her" is what she's always told me = emergency c section & not seeing me for 3 days so we never bonded & have never got on.) that was an obvious revelation really. But hit me hard. Husband just hugged me & put me in a bath to relax. Bless him.

Aww Robots! That sounds so tough. I'd recommend PANDAS to you too.

I understand the fear of what ahppened to your mum repeating, I was the same about PND cos my mum went into hospital and I went into care for a bit and I didn;t admit how ill I was last time because Iw as scared of that heppeneing. BUt it really won't.

Times are different and you won;t be separated from your baby even with EMC, you can ask for skin to skin asap and they will bring baby to you unless it's very ill. Is there a MW you can talk to about how you feel? It would be good to let them know and to start processing it.
    Lots to think about then!

What's the benefit of delayed cord clamping?

The question really is what are the risks of premature cord clamping, but in a nutshell there is lots of blood in the placenta that will be prevented from getting to baby if the cord is clamped early ie immediately. It is best to wait till the cord has stopped pulsating which means all the stem cell rich blood in the placenta is now in the baby where it belongs.

If you scroll up a few pages you will find some links I posted when we talked about this the other week.

AFM - some people on a birth group I'm in think I am actually in labour but my mind is preventing it because I want to get DD's birthday sorted first! It's perfectly possible I suppose but I think it's more likely to be pre-prelabour.

I;'m pretty sorted now, just a few things left to do like sort the spare room and wash baby clothes, but generally we're ready now, except mentally lol!

Had a group physio session yesterday for SPD but it's made it worse :( Am wearing the belt they gave me but can;t get a one to one session as they have a 4-6 week waiting list and I am 37 weeks. It's a really rubbish system, lucky I have my osteopath who can help me but it's not really a good enough service from the physios - surely they realise people are pregnant and don;t have weeks and weeks to wait?

Oh, and I'm glad my birth plan was helpful. I think if you read a bit of it and think "Skinty what are you on? Who cares about that? "then you know you probably don;t have a preference on that issue! I do tend to have an opinion on everything lol.

Put it this way - I don;t think i've missed anything off so if you use the headings to write your own then you'll have had a chance to think about it all. I have no idea whay they don;t put headings like that in the thing they give you to fill in. I remember last time thinking I didn't even know what I didn't know I hadn;t included if that makes any sense!!

  • Sorry I've not read back, just heading to the hospital now (once OH has packed DS an overnight bag), baby's movements have reduced so they want me in for monitoring, been having mild contractions since 2pm but it's too soon to go in based on the contractions, but they are worried about the movement, will update when I can.
