Rant away - it's what we're here for! Back in the olden days of 4 channels :rotfl: we had one TV until I was in double figures. If my dad was recording the cricket all day then you could only watch the channel recording! Then we got the old one for computer games (my brother and I got a snes as a joint present) but you could watch videos, though no tv or recording. I got my own TV as a present for a levels to take to uni. It as colour but had the turny knobs for reception! I want to avoid TV in the rooms, but I wonder for our kids if the computer/tablet is going to be the issue...

Well glad things are decided - at least decisions can be made then about issues like sleeping arrangements and so on. Impressive stress management from you!

Forgot to say - had ridiculous mini meltdown on the way. On Wednesday did 2 and a half hours driving during the day for work (on and off) and then drove 3 hours to get here. Got lost, couldn't find anywherre to pull over and then no reception to check with DH so ended up in a layby sobbing my heart out. DH finally got through to me and I managed to get somewhere easy for them to meet me. Bless me - overheated and over tired.

Right non pg question - those of you with pets, do you let them lick your finished plates clean if sauce etc? We're staying with my in laws who give the dog pretty much all our plates and crockery to lick clean before washing up. I think this is VILE but I do not have any pets.
As a former VN (vet nurse) this is unhygienic the amount of bacteria that in a pets mouth! think about what they lick and where they put their noses. another thing. pets get ill from eating human food cats loose the ability to digest milk, chocolate is toxic to dogs... sorry this just makes me mad!

cmace I can't fit everything I need into one bag, so what I've got in the 2nd is stuff for OH (in case we get one of the rooms where the Dad can stay overnight). Baby's towel - as she won't be having a bath immediately after being born - they usually wait a few days. Things for going home with - hospital will provide cellular blanket while your in, so I've packed the ones for taking her home in the 2nd bag. I've tried to work out what I'll need while giving birth / immediately after and what can wait until they next day. I know I'll have to stay in at least overnight as both me and baby have to have 3 consecutive good results on blood tests before we're allowed home due to the gestational diabetes. If I knew we'd be in and out same day I might not need to pack as much!
re towels all the MWs with us say don't pack towels as do you really want to do any more washing. at least if you use the hospital towels you don't have to wash them.

that's a bit late for such a decision, do you know what they've decided yet?

Nope, I rang the estate agents straight after who aren't best pleased and she is going to call them and ring me back tomorrow
That's bonkers! After you've both spent money on legal fees etc that's plain ridiculous. I'd be suspicious & expect them to ask for a reduction in price tomorrow...

Yes I think you might be right, just have to wait and see I guess. The value of our house has actually gone up 7k since they made their offer so they won't be getting a reduction, we would rather just put it back on the market and wait to move until after the baby is born.
  • Lemon Tree glad you survived the trip to the outlaws.

I hope your house sale goes through Laila and that your buyers haven't made it more stressful for you than it was already! I'd be tempted to tell them I was putting it back on the market at the £7k higher price, but then I suppose you don't want to rock the boat if they are going to complete afterall.

Sorry to hear your struggling with the GD Scotsbride, I have it myself, but luckily I've found it OK and not reacted badly to the medication.
I didn't realise the hospitals supplied towels, and I've stayed in for quite a while before, I can't remember if I took my own now! I'll ask at my appointment tomorrow.

    Robots
hope you're doing well and that baby makes a move soon.

Hope you manage to get some help for your depression soon skintchick.

We took MIL out for her birthday tonight. Went to a Brazilian restaurant where they keep bringing you food until you can eat no more, I'm stuffed! And because it was mostly meat my blood sugars were fine afterwards. They brought some roasted pineapple round on a spit, I was tempted to tell the waiter to leave it with me! I had a couple of slices, it was lovely, I'd never have thought of roasting it. Had a really good night but very uncomfortable from overeating now - hopefully the food will push baby down a bit!
  • Well still here still pregnant - the hospital appointment for observations went very well today I felt very cared for.

Interestingly they couldn't figure out why I was actually there from my notes or my observations!! I had to explain at the end the reason why I was going for an induction in 2 days if I baby doesn't come by then. One Midwife even went so far as to say my consultant was quite aggressive silly man....

I actually requested another stretch & sweep! :o
I had a student midwife, and on the other side of the curtain they were discussing whether she had done a S&S before, and the midwife who I'd seen before was giving the student advice... saying give it some welly we want to make her wince!!  Now last week this would have terrified me! but I couldn't help but burst out laughing... which made them realise they could hear me & it was all very funny... And whilst the student did what felt like a very good job she didn't succeed in making me wince! So I have now had three midwifes tell me I have good relaxation/breathing control!

Curiously I was asked 4 times if I was having contractions whilst on the monitor which I was not. I was just having some of those interesting tingling sensations I've been having for a few days... The student explained that Braxton Hicks feel very different for different people... (Trust me I googled this and hadnt come across a tingling Braxton Hicks!)

I was only 2 cm dilated but thats still an improvement, but happiest for me is I'm now only 1 cm long where as I was originally 3 cm.. all progress is good :)

Happily they see no reason to see me tomorrow, unless of course... (hey fingers crossed…)

As we left the heavens opened and we found ourselves running a bit to the car... A few minutes after driving away I had a very strong tightening sensation across my lower belly it wasn't painful it was wonderful as I'm really really hoping that things are moving forwards.
Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.
  • Glad there's been some progress and that you've started dilating robots. Fingers crossed things start moving along for you now!

I think I might cry if they tell me I've not started dilating yet when I have my appointment tomorrow!
  • Time to go to the hospital now and do battle with consultants over induction dates!

OMG i'm 3rd on the list !! When did that happen !! Nowt is happening here, just braxton hicks contractions, really rarely. Have weeded the garden, cleaned the house from top to bottom, ate a curry, drinking raspberry leaf tea (only one cup a day!) and walking lots but this baby just doesnt want to come out ! Although after the panic of having contractions at 30 weeks, i do feel quite proud of my body for sorting itself out and making sure that baby is fully cooked.

Saw the MW last week and the cervix was still long and tightly closed :o

OH is on holidays now tho so at least he's at home to amuse me all day long. Except today as he's had to go and save some friends who have broken down over an hour away, let's just hope my waters don't break just as he's pulling out of the drive !

Hope you're all well :D Pomme and bump

Good luck with the consultant aquamarine x

Do you think your big clean means you could be nesting pommeverte? Might not be long now!

Hugs for the house uncertainty lailap I hope it gets resolved for you fairly sharpish x

Would somebody let me know how I go about joining the Facebook group? I keep forgetting to ask!

AFM I think my bump has dropped, suddenly I can breathe and my acid reflux has disappeared! Unfortunately it means she's now a bit closer to her favourite nerve and she's taking every opportunity to sit on it! I'm a bit nervous about my scan on Thursday, I hope she hasn't grown to much and that she's doing OK.

    Hugs to all

scotsbride, the diabetic consultant has discharged me but I still need to do another week of testing 32-33 before my 34 week scan. Guess they just can't help themselves. I lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago so don't actually eat too much sweet food or carbs I'm mostly on a protein and veggie diet which I guess helps make my sugar levels well controlled. Last hb1ac was below 5 which was better than the consultants himself.
