Robots Hope you are getting on OK and you sound a bit happier. Come on baby Robots!! I have thrown away quite a bit of stuff already in preparation for moving, I think my nesting instincts have kicked in and it's not being able to know where I need to nest that is bothering me so much. If we are staying here for now then fine but I need to know so I can get things ready!

Aqua That's good that you have OH's support...come on baby Aqua!

skintchick Hope you are OK and feeling better x

I packed my hospital bags two weeks ago but I'm ready to re pack them now (I see this happening a few times before baby arrives too haha). I've seen some people say they have a bag they keep in the car for after the birth to not clutter up the room too much but what exactly goes in this bag? It seems weird to me to send OH out to the car to get things when I would gave thought it would be all about cuddles for baby and mummy? And what would be in this bag that can wait until this point?
  • cmace I can't fit everything I need into one bag, so what I've got in the 2nd is stuff for OH (in case we get one of the rooms where the Dad can stay overnight). Baby's towel - as she won't be having a bath immediately after being born - they usually wait a few days. Things for going home with - hospital will provide cellular blanket while your in, so I've packed the ones for taking her home in the 2nd bag. I've tried to work out what I'll need while giving birth / immediately after and what can wait until they next day. I know I'll have to stay in at least overnight as both me and baby have to have 3 consecutive good results on blood tests before we're allowed home due to the gestational diabetes. If I knew we'd be in and out same day I might not need to pack as much!

cmace I just packed more of the same stuff in a separate bag for the car, as my hospital bag got full pretty quickly.

In my main hospital bag I have just one pair of pjs, a couple of breast pads, one pack of maternity pads, a handful of nappies and a couple of babygros. I figure that will be enough if things go smoothly and we stay in for a few hours.

In the car bag there is another pair of pjs, more clean underwear, a box of breast pads, two more packs of maternity pads, a full pack of nappies and a few more baby outfits. This is for if we have to stay on the post natal ward overnight after the birth, which is quite common. If this happens our hospital would make OH go home overnight so I figured he wouldn't mind fetching the bag from the car on his way.

Thanks guys, that makes sense!! Yes my baby bag fits ok but my bag was getting a bit full, luckily it's got a an extra zip making it extendable so I'll do that I expect to fit more stuff in haha! My snacks seem to be taking up a fair amount :D and I bet I won't feel like eating any of it!
  • I've been doing this aqua http://spinningbabies.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/deb-lawrences-dip-hip-circles.html as I've got really tender hips and lower back at the moment. It does relieve it a little for me so thought I'd suggest it. Makes OH feel a bit less useless as he then tubs delicious tiger balm into it too. Such relief! I hope it doesn't get worse though! Obviously if baby is in the perfect position (unlike mine) then I probably wouldn't incase it made it move... It's hard deciding what to do for the best! :)

baby Annabelle grace was born 06/07 weighing 8lb 3oz, she was 11 days overdue :) labour experience was great until the end when she got a bit fed up, heart rate fell and I had to have an emergency ventouse delivery, resulting in a episiotomy and 2nd degree tear. but she is gorgeous. feeling quite overwhelmed in hospital tonight but hopefully home tomorrow.
  • congratulations firey, love her name, hope you recover quickly and get to go home tomorrow!
