You know we are supposed to wash the babies clothes before using them, does anyone know what type of detergent should be used? Presumably not my normal nice smelling one and fabric conditioner...
And how early can you do it? I was thinking of getting it all done in this lovely weather.0 -
Daisie - have you considered getting one of the home dopplers. I have this one. I hardly ever use it now, but did earlier in the week when baby had been a bit quieter than normal for a few days.
At 27 weeks you will get a quick very strong 'thump thump' which I can sit listening too for ages! Don't forget to get some gel as it really doesn't work without it.
Nah I personally don't think home dopplers are a good idea (for me). Thanks though!
As for washing baby clothes - I have got this http://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Attitude-Non-Bio-Baby-Laundry-Liquid/59853011?from=search&tags=%7C20000¶m=Attitude&parentContainer=SEARCHAttitude_SHELFVIEW and the matching fabric conditioner. I reeeeally want to do it too but keep trying to put myself off because I'm thinking it is going to be a long summer stuck at home and I will get really bored if I do all the fun things too quickly...0 -
Peonie, monty-doggy and anybody else not feeling too good, hope you're feeling better soon
TCOD hope all was well with the scan.
T2D sounds like it was good news at your appointment. Make sure you do keep your feet up and rest! I used supermarket own brand non-bio tablets and sensetive conditioner with DS clothes and never had a problem. They recommend sticking to the same brand once you've picked it.
skintchick hope the midwife has been able to help you with the antenatal depression
daisie I think the guidlines are 10 movements a day. I've found that my baby's movements are less frequent the further along I get, but more violent. I assume it's because she's getting into some sort of routine, like sleeping for periods then waking up having a big kick then going back to sleep. But, if you are at all worried ring maternity triage and go in for a trace. They won't mind, at all my appointments they keep stressing I must ring in if I'm worried about baby's movement. It's best to be over cautious than not I think.
Been to Aldi today, we like to rotate our supermarkets. They had a Phillips Avent microwave steriliser for £9.99 and the Phillips Avent newborn starter bottle set for £9.99 so we bought them. I'm planning on breastfeeding so they might not get any use but I did have to express for DS due to his weight problems, so we've got them just in case we have the same problem this time. Aldi seemed to have a lot of baby stuff in and it seemed good value for money. Was able to walk about easily, therefore I can only assume baby is making no attempt to get down into my pelvis. Bought a fresh pineapple as the other one was looking a bit sorry for itself, not sure how long they last.
I also googled Raspberry Leaf capsules last night and apparently you shouldn't take it if you've had a previous c-section so I don't think I'll take it afterall.0 -
Daisie... I had days where my bean didnt do all the kicking and churning I was used to,so I worried but when I concentrated hard he was still moving just , little flicks...rather than his normal storm.
the other thing I noticed is when I relaxed so did he.
I worked in a very busy, noisy, stressful enviroment, he loved the noise and pace of me being at work and was always busy during my shifts....ive been off 5 weeks and now with my general pottering and short dog walks he tends to as relaxed as me....
so might have something to do with you being at home, but if your worried then ring them....0 -
Ladies, any advice on frequency of movements?
I am 27 weeks today. As some of you may know, I was really worried last week about lack of movement and ended up having a scan on Friday - everything was absolutely perfect.
Then, over the weekend and particularly on Monday she was moving like crazy. I was very excited to be able to see her moving my tummy for the first time on Monday!
Then since Monday, I haven't felt much. I have felt the odd movement but very few really strong kicks. Lying down after having a cold drink and sugary snack never seems to work with my girl, never has. Poking and shouting (nicely!) at her does sometimes get a reaction though!
Is this normal? I feel really worried about it but am thinking I am probably stressing over nothing? I really don't want to contact the MFAU after last week, and everything being absolutely fine on the scan. As it is, my sister (doctor) thinks they only scanned me to get rid of me and there was never anything really to worry about!
Any advice? I just hate days when I don't feel lots of nice strong movements and I haven't really since Monday
I hope this is ok to post here: I volunteer for Count the Kicks charity, and they have lots of really good info on movements, frequency of movements, etc on their website and their facebook page. Their web page is: http://countthekicks.org.uk/ and their FB page is https://www.facebook.com/ukcountthekicks
I really cannot recommend them enough (and volunteering for them doesn't make me recommend them). Once my little one gets big enough to feel, I'll be getting a few bits from them to help me keep up with how little one is moving. They cannot offer medical advise, but they still have wonderful information.0 -

Oh gosh that website says to call your midwife if you have a bad feeling or feel uneasy - that is me every day! :rotfl:
Thanks for the link x0 -

Jen and Mrs C, you have both had invitations sent because it won't let t2d or me send another one - it says you have already had one! So all I can think of is that you need to check your junk email or deleted items in case you have missed it accidentally? There is not much else we can do as it won't let us send another invitation to an email address that has already had one!
Thanks Daisie. All checked and defo nothing. T2D said to add her as a friend and she would try and add me to the group after that so the friend request has been sent. Maybe a couple of fb gremlins, been a while since they popped up!No longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000 -
Well I finally bit the bullet and purchased the size 18 knickers. I went for minis after everyone's recommendations. Lets see how long these ones last :rotfl:
I am another one putting off washing of the babies clothes. I am going to wait until we move at the end of the month as then I can put them out on the line in the garden which I can't do now as our garden is too small for a washing line! I figured there was no rush as I've only bought new born and god forbid if she came early it would all be too big anyway.
AquamarineMonkey sounds like you got some bargains! I think there was a baby event on today in Aldi.
daisiegg Sorry to hear about your movement worries, no advice but hugs x0 -
Daisie, if it helps I don't get much on the movement front either, I did while I was still on holiday as that's earn I first felt it but it's settled down a fair but now. Midwife was saying last week I should get inactive periods of an hour or so but so far today I've had 2 lots, one of the was when I got home from work and lay on the bed talking to hubby who was on the floor chilling out before he went to 2nd job tonight.
I was lying on the bed talking and crying my eyes out again.....today I spilt juice down myself before I left the house, nearly dropped a full tin of coffee (lid off) when making the first cup of the day, noticed I've broken a claw on my engagement ring and list a diamond (best thing is I was going to take my rings off last night because of swelling but forgot) and to top it off getting told I'm going to have to move to another site an hours drive each way until my maternity leave starts because someone has resigned! Great day....I don't think! No longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000
