  • Talking of eyebrow tints etc etc, my friend was telling me last night that she had listened to one of those radio dial-ins where they were talking about women getting dolled up for birth.

people were having their eyebrows, eyelashes, bikini line, hair, nails and fake tan done for the birth!! I mean WTAF?! I can't get my head round it. No matter how hard you try you will surely end up a sweaty mess. I don't get it at all!

in one case, some of the doctors were worrying about one girl's skin rash on her back - until she realised it was the part on her back she couldn't reach with the fake tan, and so it was all patchy there!

Pahhahaha! Tell me this was in Liverpool! :) Though to be fair I think i'll try and defuzz my legs/underarms and dye my eyelashes- things I do now but that not often.... Doubt i'll be able to do anything about the bikini line by myself by then as it's already a chore! In reality I'll probably look like chewbacca by then... :rotfl: OH was talking about booking me a massage and pedicure when I go off on mat leave so will have to keep reminding him about that! :)

I honestly don't think i'll ever get over the placenta thing. I dread it when it comes into work and beg whoever is planning the next days work to leave me out of it!- they usually make me deal with it just to be mean! :(

Had growth scan this morning in the dreaded hospital. For the first time ever I had a brilliant nights sleep before going! MIL came with us as she hasn't been to a scan yet. Baby is currently measuring just below 5th centile so lots of concern from radiographer. Referred back to high risk team and spent afternoon on a monitor and speaking to a variety of doctors and mws.

MIL must've worked some magic yesterday as I am remarkably zen about it all. Helps that baby is right size for *my* dates but i think that I'm so much more at ease with the idea that actually there is very little I can do to control this situation- though did get a telling off for not eating.... :o Baby will do what baby wants to do. Have to go in for heart traces twice a week, have an emergency scan on thursday to check for anomalies and placenta function, consultant appointment next week and from there on have to have twice weekly heart rate monitorings, scans every two weeks and possibly consultant appointment every two weeks. If baby's growth 'catches up' to their dates then this will reduce but likelihood is will be monitored to the end now.

Work have asked me to try and make the appointments as minimally disruptive as possible.... Er, OK then. Lol. I'll just make the entire hospital work its appointments around me! Sometimes I think they think that I'm doing this on purpose!

Today I also heard back from an NHS clinic in London who specialise in genital anomalies who have offered to see me if I like- I only contacted them on Sunday by email just to ask if they knew of any literature I could read! I blo*dy love the NHS- despite all of its quirks!

Daisie- i'm glad you got signed off and ignore your GP. Some of them have absolutely no nouse about appropriate comments! Every pregnancy is different and why bother killing yourself if you feel terrible just to be able to gain some imaginary scouts badge of honour that you worked til you dropped?! Feel better soon! xx
  • T2D- here's to a speedy 2 weeks for you! I celebrated 28 weeks with a glass of wine. :)

I only went away for the weekend so much to catch up on. I'm comfortably in the top 20 now and thats scary

Daisie you need to be off work to rest/get your head straight, if your bleeding sometimes that is all you can think about and can't concentrate on anything else thats how i felt when i bled a lot under 12 weeks.

time2deal I do the same my next milestone is to get to 34 weeks, it makes it seem easier to think of.

I am another who doesn't like being pregnant, I mean I love my bean to death and will do anything for my baby. It doesn't help that I have now being attacked by some really ugly stretch marks near my belly button and also have a black bit that sticks out from my belly button. The thing I do like watching is the way my crazy baby moves around its a fidgiter you can clearly see it move from one position to the another it's so funny watching it.

had my 28 week scan today and things seem fine with the baby, was apparently in a 'weird' position (midwifes words) but they're still saying we're team pink, phew didn't want a little boy to have to wear the frocks.
The midwife has said I need to take 1 or preferably 2 weeks of sick because of the exhaustion and is faxing my doctors to this effect so I can get a sick note tomorrow. I texted my manager pretty quickly so I didn't chicken out of telling her and she said she expected as much and that they had been unfair to me expecting way too much from me for way too long. So Daisie we could be keeping each other sane over the next two weeks :)
Diabetic consultant says I don't have GD but need to check my sugar levels again before my 34 week scan to keep an eye on them. Didn't get much further re what they expect re how long I will be left to go naturally in labour, they are saying that they will know a lot more at 34 weeks and we can have a proper discussion then. The hospital midwife suggested I didn't need to see mine tomorrow, but then agreed I should keep the appointment to get details of antenatal course etc as I've yet to be given those details. Ended up going shopping on way home and finally have a changing bag :) and some more bits for the nursery.
  • Sounds like a good day all round Lemon, i'm glad that your midwife has recommended you rest- your work sounds like they've failed in their duty of care to you. Good news about GD. :)

Ergh, I feel rubbish :( My turn for a pity post today I am afraid ladies.

I am so tired, I've got no energy and I'm uncomfortable. My gums are also sore which is adding to grumpiness. I came home from the office at lunch time today and slept for 2 hours and I am STILL knackered!

I've felt queasy all day (Is this the 3rd trimester kicking in?) and the only thing that stops it is eating but the more I eat the more miserable I feel coz my bump feels all tight and also I hate my fat cellulite ridden body at the moment :(

I've got nips like burgers which are sore, I've bought 2 new packs of knickers recently and I've grown out of both of those so need to buy yet more to accommodate my ever growing backside. And I feel cross with myself for having gained over 2 stone already, I have been greedy and it's my own fault.

Even doing the simplest of tasks makes me feel so wiped out! I walked the dog yesterday with hubby and today I just ache all over but I feel so lazy sat doing nothing!

Sorry ladies, just needed a moan

    Hello everyone.
Sorry for those who are not feeling too good. This heat is knocking me out too. I'm exhausted.

Does anyone know if mother are and babies r us regularly change which prams are on offer? Sometimes they have them at £200 off and I'm after a silver cross wayfarer but not seen any on offer anywhere yet. I'm going to keep my eye out!

aw Laila, have a hug! I sympathise with lots of the things you mentioned, especially the knickers thing! I was a size 12-14 before pregnancy and the other day I had to buy a pack of size 20 knickers?! they're a bit big mind you but I wanted baggy ones because all my other knickers were way too small and cutting into my side!

baby might be having a growth spurt that's why you feel so tired! its really hard working and being pregnant so don't feel lazy for having a rest. have you had your 28 week midwife appointment yet where they take your blood? you might be low in iron, so make sure they check that, I felt constantly knackered and it turned out that's what I had, as soon as I started iron tablets I felt better.

Daisie sorry can't help you with that one. I was in ToysRus today but wasn't looking at prams.
Laila, hugs, I know what exhaustion is like, it's just soul destroying no matter how much you sleep it's still there. I've done very little today, just a bit of walking around the hospital and a few shops but I've already had a nap since I've been back home. You are going to have to forgive yourself for gaining weight - you're supposed to gain it my love, it's how the baby grows, just don't compare yourself to others. If eating is the only way you don't feel queasy then you need to eat but maybe pick something healthier if you've not already been choosing healthy. One thing I've realised is some days you eat for England, others you can barely manage to drink anything, you just need to go with the flow and do what your body needs you to do.

Thanks ladies, definitely helps to have a moan to people who understand.

I was a 12 and just grown out the 16s so the 20s are in my near future :rotfl:

I've got midwife appointment next week so will mention it to her and I assume she will do bloods etc.
