I feel really guilty but have called in sick again. Am spotting again (only a little bit), my back is aching so much I can barely stand, and I have been sick. Work must be getting really fed up...since I went back to work after being signed off for nearly three weeks I think I have averaged about one day off sick every week!
god knows what they must think of me. I remember my head (I am a teacher) saying to me during the first trimester when I was sooooo sick, 'I felt completely normal through all my pregnancies, was never sick once and felt healthy and energetic the whole time'. Good for her! She also went back to work after a few weeks and had a nanny...but not everyone is superwoman
People are starting to say again 'wouldn't it be better if you got signed off?' I know they would happily sign me off as I am still getting bleeds/spotting quite frequently, never mind the other stuff (back pain, sickness, low blood pressure causing dizziness and fainting, low iron causing exhaustion...you name it I have it!) but the thing is if I am managing to go to work all but once a week I'd really like to keep doing it. As it is I am going to be off for a loooooong time before baby comes and I think I would go mad if I just get signed off for good now. Obviously I would if there was a good reason (like needing bed rest, like you t2d) but as yet I am being told 'lots of rest but doing your normal activities is ok as long as you minimise time on your feet and do not exert yourself'. So.....I am reluctant to get signed off.
Sorry, this is a big rambling rant, I just feel rubbish physically and rubbish mentally about calling in sick AGAIN. I know I have much less to complain about than lots of people (including t2d again!) so I must stop moaning. Going back to sleep now I think...0 -
Congratulations Lara!! Sounds exhausting but so very worth it to meet your little man
I hope you heal well & easily xxx
Oh Daisy, try not to feel too rubbish. And ignore your silly head! That's just unkind pressure.
To those with GD... I read this idea, do I'll share... Freeze a few bananas, then blitz in blender / with stick blender. Apparently it tastes & feels/texture just like ice cream, but is only fruit! I've got some in the freezer to try out later. Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0 -
Ok, so huge thank yous to everyone who offered support and advice re my panic / crying / upset re no mattress & husband messing up & not pulling his weight...
You really did help me feel better, and I went away and had a big think... And a bit of a chat with husband. I'm not sure he actually understands where I'm coming from / why these things are getting to me, but he's agreed to just try anyway! So I guess that's progress.
Though last night he did admit he's thinking of working this weekend! & said he won't unplug totally during his paternity leave.Grumble.
BUT back to the pressing issue... The mattress... Guess what I did?
I got the measurements off him, and called my mother in law!I then phoned some shops, checked eBay etc, and found one to my surprise at M&P (they don't have a local shop & it's not in their catalogue so I didn't know they did it!). So motherinlaw went & collected it yesterday and drove it over to me
And bless her heart she was so lovely about it.
Doing so shamed husband a bit, but she was happy to feel helpful I think. She ended up staying the day and helped with some hand washing, did my kitchen floor & we bonded quite a bit whilst hanging out nappies!!:rotfl: so it did all work out fine. And the mattress fits very nicely :TDid you say your OH is working unpaid overtime to make up for paternity leave? You know he doesn't have to make up for it right?
Do you have anyone else you could ask to fit the car seat? As a last resort I'd probably try turning up at mother care or somewhere at a quiet time & ask for help. Or if you have it from somewhere local try them.
Sadly yes he technically knows paternal leave is legal etc, but he's a workaholic & doesn't believe anyone else there can do it insteadTo think we met in a wood, he was a hippy who protested & a photo of him was used on a green peace advert!! I love him dearly, but I do not understand his priorities sometimes.
The car seat came from M&Ps about 8 years ago (to us via a cousin), and sadly the shop is too far for me to drive to now. I can still fit but its uncomfortable to drive for long. My car is 3 door & I can't bend / fit in the back now! I've put the car seat in the middle of the living room now.... I hope it'll annoy him enough to do something about it! :rotfl:fireyfirenze wrote: »I'm similar stage to you and for the last few days my emotions have been horrendous, iv been crying for no reason, feeling low then stupidly silly, and being downright irritable, and I can't pinpoint any reason for any of them! I think it's par for the course towards the end of pregnancy, even though it sucks

Bless you. I'm glad yours finally did clean the shower! I cried a bit the other day as he Lu the washing up liquid back on the window sill... Again... Which I just cannot reach anymore! Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0 -
Ladies which is more accurate, the bump measurement that the midwife does at your check up or the estimated weight on a scan? I'm 29+1 and 2 days ago I had a scan which estimated baby at 3lb 7oz (that's 2-3 weeks infront and around the 75th centile I think) and today at my check up my bump measured 3 days behind my due date so almost spot on. Which is likely to be more accurate?

Robots- not to be a pita but check if your seat has an expiry date. I've read that they have a 5 year expiry as the plastic can start to degrade. The only one's i've seen with a 10 year expiry are the new extended rear facing ones that are structurally a lot more metal than plastic. Sorry if you already knew this (or aren't bothered- not in a bad way, just more in a 'is this another ridiculous thing they tell us to freak us out/ buy more stuff kind of way!
)...
Daisie- can you reduce your working week if you want to continue working? I agree with robots though- ignore your boss! Mine was the same (worked doing on-call and heavy lifting up until 38 weeks. Fine if you want to risk your health and babies but don't expect me to!)
When did everyone start doing their nurseries/ hospital bags/ washing etc? Am 28 weeks tomorrow and the nursery is currently a junk room. Have finally bought wallpaper and have all furniture but haven't done anything else.... Know baby won't be going in there for a good while but starting to run out of places to stash baby stuff!0 -
Teabag, I would take them both with a pinch of salt....I know people who have been told they are having a huge baby and go onto to have a 7lber. Your mw will measure you but as you have probably seen yourself your stomach changes shape and can depend on the way baby is lying. The scan measurements puts the three measurements for head and abdominal circumference in a computer programme and gives an estimate weight.....but we are all.different.
Has the hospital indicated any concerns or booked more appointments for you? Did you mention it to your mw as she may have been able to answer your questions?Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
