hi Laila it is starting to feel very real and scary isn't it!

Did anyone else struggle to find a changing bag that they liked that didn't cost the earth? Where do you start?
I joined boots parenting club got the change bag free when you brought pampers nappies (I forget all the in and out and which type of pampers you have to get) but basic got the nappies on 3 for 2, then used both triple points, parenting club voucher which 10p worth of points for every £ we also got baby monitor, maternity pad nipple pads and digital thermometer along with muslin cloths yes the whole lot came to over £100! eek but we saved almost £45 and got £35 worth of points don't when the offers next come around again but worth looking out for.

Hi ladies, sorry to have gone AWOL!! I have been trying to read but its hard to post on my phone!
So last Sunday 8th June I had really bad itching on my hands and feet. I made a go appointment on Monday and she referred me to the antentel unit at the hospital on Tuesday. They did lots of tests and mointered baby. Sent me home. On Wednesday they called me back and said my liver function was raised and I needed to go for more tests. They eventually sent me home. Called me on Thursday to go back as they found lots of protein in my urine. Baby kept wiggling so they couldn't do a trace so sent me for a scan. Baby's fine but was measuring off the chart for everything,!! Estimated weight at 35 + 2 was 9lb 15oz!!! Eek!! They were happy with all the tests and and my bp is perfect. So sent me home. Friday they called and said pack an overnight bag and come in.

So after all that they admitted me as baby has turned transverse as well!! Diagnosis is as well as gestational diabetes I also have obstetric cholastasis and a big baby in the wrong place!!! I'm here until they perform a c section next week at 37 +1 unless baby is in distress before so very sorry but I'll be queue jumping a few ladies!!!!
If anyone has really bad itching please get it looked at. The care in have received has been top notch and I cannot fault the hospital or staff at all. Its also really clean And the midwives friendly. I'm in city hospital, Nottingham if anyone wants to know.

Good luck to those who are due and congratulations to those who have just had their babies.
Love to you all, Mrs muffin xxxx
I also have gestational diabetes and now craving chocolate, ice cream and all things sweet! Have to say still a wimp at doing the finger !!!!! test 4 times a day to measure my sugars so hubby sticks me with the needle.

    Hello Lovelies

Sorry for the queue jumping - I had a little boy in the early hours of yesterday morning. 8lbs 1oz and as yet untitled :)

Labour started slowly on Monday night so it was quite long. It went a little pear shaped at the end, I got tired and contractions dropped but we managed with lots of pushing! Unfortunately I have a second degree tear, so got about a million stitches. I'm a bit worried about how things will heal up - fingers crossed things will be as they were before.

We are so happy and relived he is here and everyone is safe and well. Breastfeeding seems to be going well so far too.

    Hugs to all xxx

I have GD too, and I found a diabetic ice-cream in Asda, it was vanilla flavour in a cream coloured box with blue writing, I think it was called Franks. I've found that it doesn't raise my blood sugars too much. It's not as nice as normal ice-cream but it's OK.
Also, another lady - it may have been Mrs Muffin - said her blood sugars were OK after a Crunchie and I've had one on 2 seperate occasions and my bloods were OK after, which I was surprised about as I thought the honeycomb might be pure sugar.

Not that I'm advocating eating ice-cream or chocolate, but if you wanted to try those are the things I've found to not give me a high reading! My diabetic specialist midwife said if you have a really strong urge for chocolate then the best thing to try is chocolate mousse, but I haven't had any so I don't know what that does to my blood sugars.
  • Congratulations on the arrival of your little boy Lara, that's a very healthy weight! He didn't let you have much rest after leaving work did he! Hope you heal well.

    woo hoo congrats Lara!

I'll have to keep a look out for that ice-cream aquamarine monkey might need some when it gets warmer! I find I can manage the teeny weeny kinder bars without it causing too much damage, also holland & barret do sugar free chocolate eclairs and chocolate made with stevia which is acceptable. On the upside I haven't put on a pound in about 4 weeks although little miss is certainly piling on the pounds! Gestational diabetes sucks except for the extra scans!

Oh and its nice to see you over here T2D and peonie and anyone else I missed!

eeeek congrats Lara! hope the stitches aren't too bad. my friend had a 3rd degree tear which she had to have repaired afterwards in theatre and she said all is totally back to normal now - hopefully a little bit reassuring!

team blue! aw I'm so chuffed for you. I want mine now please :) xxx
