not sure if it's useful to anybody but I just filled out this NHS birth plan online and printed it off to put in my notes, as whenever iv mentioned a birth plan to my midwife she's always said things like 'oh yeah just write down what you'd like' ...very helpful! how do you really know what to put?! at my antenatal classes they said we would get a one to one with a midwife to discuss it but it never happened. I found this one pretty useful as it has options to tick

Hi Everone,
EEEKK Sunshine, you could drop any minute!!!
Thanks for the link firey, looks very useful.
I hope your OH gets the mattress situation sorted soon Robots. I have sorted everything during the pg, but I guess I am the 'gets things done' one in our house anyway.
When is too early to start washing things? I am not due until September.
Our nursery is all decorated now and furniture in but it is full of boxes and bags! My MIL is dying to have a look and I have said she must wait until it is all finished. We are going away for the night in July and she will be coming to feed our cat. I know she has had a nosey around when we have been gone before so think she will definitely peek!!! Would like to get some clothes/ blankets washed and out of the way soon.0 -
Just realised there's not been any June babies on the list yet!
We've had to pick a colour for our extension. Unfortunately we are only allowed one colour for all of it (bedroom, kitchen, porch, toilet and dining room), and it's got to be a particular brand of paint for new plaster. This decorator is really fussy. When we were re-plastering our existing house we just left it to dry for a bit, put a size coat on, then used normal paint, and it's all fine! Apparently there are all sorts of dire consequences to doing that. Ah well, we'll wait until it's all finished and the decorator has left, then we'll put some proper paint on, and put up the feature wallpaper we wantDecision was magnolia, easy to live with until we decide what colours we really want.
She was trying to convince us to go for a particular shade that is very fashionable 'shabby chic'. I really, really, don't like shabby chic, so she didn't get very far with that. She also seemed slightly shocked at the idea that we wanted picture rail to match the other bedrooms. LOL.
Trying to have a relaxing day at home today but not really succeeding in the relaxing! At least I'm here to answer all the questions from the builders / electrician etc.
The very good news is that our choice of cooker is now available in a wider range of colours... so instead of cream, we're going for cranberry! BrightNext challenge is to find a 1950s style microwave to match...

Hi ladies,
Hope everybody is doing OK!
Lovely bump, baby clothes and baby items photo's!
I'll be honest we didn't pre wash all of DS' baby clothes and he never had any allergic reactions - we had more pressing concerns after he had been born. Anyway, all the newborn clothes we had before his birth were too large anyway and OH had to nip to the shops for Early Baby clothes and they don't have a washing machine in the hospital! Obviously once it had been worn everything got washed and in non-bio, so I won't necessarily be pre washing everything this time either, although if she shows any sign of reaction or skin irritation then it will all get pre-washed. Things never seem as soft after they've been washed as they did before, and we do use a sensetive fabric conditioner!
Welcome daisiegg, zcrat41, lilmissreading and vicstick86.
Hope you are able to get your issues with work sorted Lemon Tree.
Robots hope you manage to get your crib mattress sorted and if you don't you are not letting your family down by not using it and using an alternative option. It's your baby and therefore the decision over where baby sleeps is up to you, it's got nothing to do with anybody else. You do what makes you happy. Hope your OH starts helping more soon.
Sunshine hope you aren't too uncomfortable now you're a boldy, I know you didn't want to go overdue!
I've not written a birth plan as such, but every consultant appointment they write the same thing - wants a waterbirth, if not possible will be wanting pain relief early on. We did have a discussion about pain relief today as I was planning on going straight to epidural, but there's something beginning with R - Remyphentinol or something that I might consider first. Of course if I do manage a waterbirth I won't be having pain relief anyway just gas and air!
Busy morning for me - growth scan, midwife appt, consultant appt, diabetic consultant appt. Everything is looking good, I'm still able to have a waterbirth if everything remains the same as it is now. I have to go back in 2 weeks but it's looking like it's safe to wait until 40 weeks to be induced, although they are going to give me a sweep at 39 weeks to try and encourage labour.
Have to see my own midwife next week, as it's weekly appointments now, but I think that's normal even in low risk pregnancies at this stage (I'll be 37 weeks on Friday).
Due to the diabetes baby will need to be fed constantly for the first 4 hours after birth, and then woken for a feed every 3 hours thereafter whether she wants one or not. And this will continue until she gets 3 normal blood readings in a row, and if we can't regulate her blood sugars that way she might have to go to NICU, but hopefully all will be well. If I can't produce enough milk she will need top ups, and I checked the hospital policy with the midwife and if I am unable to express then because I'm planning on breastfeeding they will provide formula if necessary, I don't need to take my own.
Moses basket is here now, although hasn't been put up yet but that would take OH a few seconds as we've had it out to check it's sturdy and fits the stand but it's been put back in the box to keep it clean. I did order a new car seat and isofix base and that's due to be delivered tomorrow. I still haven't packed the hospital bag - so much for last Friday's deadline - however I have been shopping for all the bits to go in it, so all the stuff I need is in the house...somewhere!0 -
Thanks for adding me to the lists... its basically spot on as due date is 27th july.
Im just packing mine and the beany boys bags for hospital.... I am planning on bf, but should I take formula just incase? Or I that setting myself upto fail?
also has anyone used/purchased a babasling? They look pretty good and a bit cooler than the padded front carrier I brought in jan!
finally any ladies who love a bargain, ive been in three different branches of boots (obviously have a boots obsession) various baby bits are on clearance....I saw freezer pots and spoons for 19p but none left in my boots booo.... but I did get some naked mama, weleda and milk and co toiletries for myself and bump well marked down.
the milk and co baby bath shows as £11 online but was 1.50. The weleda breast oil was £1.99 usually 7.95. Its was all in the normal place on the shelves so I just went around scanning the shelf edges. They had a big pack of the natty nappies half price, but they were for girls ( god knows wat the difference is) but didnt want to give the poor little chap a gender complex so resisted..... well worth a hunt round your local bigger boots as guessing national.0 -
sending you hugs Robot, don't apologise for being teary, I was in that state last Friday and over the weekend, mine was also frustration with my OH but in my case he's not even done other jobs instead of baby related jobs.0
-
vicstick86 I asked the question about taking formula too. Apparently it's down to individual hospitals so I would check what the policy is at yours
I empathise with those who have unhelpful OH's at the moment. After my fifth or sixth major breakdown with him during pregnancy last week mine seems to have caught on and I have noticed an improvement this week!! :T long may it continue!!0 -
De lurking
My midwife told me to take one pack of ready made formula into hospital with me as hospitals won't provide it and there may be a slight chance you can't bf baby won't latch on and needs to be fed, or say you need stitches and baby needs feeding and you are in theatre etc etc. you can buy ready made packs, they are not expensive and better than taking a tub and bottles etc.

Robots, meant to say thank you for those natural c section links, I found them fascinating. Not sure it would be easy to arrange now, but sounds like it works!
Vickstick, I did try a babasling but it never felt that great, always had to hold ds at the same time. I did have a stretchy fabric sling which was brilliant, mine was made by a friend but its like a Moby wrap. If you want to try the babs sling I'd suggest looking second hand, they are fully washable & you can usually get one not very used.0
