    Hey lemon tree

I sometimes wake with this and have found it's just dried "leakage" how glamorous! I use lanisol on them as they get a bit sore and find that it helps quite a lot as it seems to "free up" the leaking which helps mine to be less sore.

    I hope that makes sense!

    Morning!
I dreamed I was in labour last night - woke up in a bit of a blind panic as I haven't got any of the newborn things down from the attic, no nappies and not got my tens machine down & checked whether it needs new pads / batteries... Loads more to actually do, but think I need these before baby arrives!!

Think it was all the talk of washing baby clothes lol and the lovely pic of baby washing on the line Sunshine! At the moment I'll probably wash enough for the first week or so, there will be plenty of time to wash anything else once LO arrives!! Plus we are waiting for the plasterer before we can finish DS's room, so for the moment we don't have anywhere to put anything!! It didn't seem too much of a concern before now but it has suddenly hit me that at 34 weeks it really could happen sooner rather than later.

9 days left at work woo hoo! That is unless I take any other time off before baby is due :)
  • Purcy - I'd recommend Lazy Daisy classes, I think there are about 130 teachers across the uk so it's worth looking on their website. My teacher qualified in Sept, so counts as new, so the 6 week term was only £40! I'm now 1/2 way through my second term - it was that helpful I'm happy for the straight repetition! It might sound a bit hippy, (which I wouldn't have minded at all!), but it isn't. The physical reasons for everything are explained well & the language used is positive & gentle.

Sorry for the evangelising! I do really feel the classes have helped me be less anxious, preparing me for what's to come & how I want to approach it, plus keeping me moving & flexible... And the time each week just for me & baby has been beautiful.

Yesterday's couple class was also great. Husband was oddly bashful (eg wouldn't do mirrored breathing with me), he's so outgoing & confident usually this surprised me. There was a lot about avoiding fear, how breathing & relaxing physically helps the birth process, how he should advocate for me.... Basically everything I've been trying to tell him but don't think he was taking in!

  • Gosh Ema_o, that's a horrid nightmare! I'm sure sorting a few things out will help... Did for me, I was having regular nightmares & night sweats & they are certainly better now I've not got so much underlying worry.

Sunshine - thinking of you. I know only 4% arrive on the EDD but I can't help it!

Oh & we finally got a mattress for the Moses basket! But I think it's too small - I'll have to research where the basket was originally bought. Didn't find one for the family crib though :( mums response was thst I wasn't a sickly baby so my foam mattress would be fine... Erm, it's 33 years old! Foam disintegrates in a few years! No thanks mum. & yes you guessed it, she got a bit irritated I'd turned her down! Lol!

Second skintchick on the highchair, we have a padded reclining 3 height one from toys r us and it is an absolute ba*tard to clean, once the seat /straps gets covered in tomato based product it is never as clean again. Also although they fold they still take space. The ikea is practical, easy to clean and apart if you need to transport it. We cannot afford a new one so will use the one we have but I love my sisters ikea one.

It's only £16, and I think about £23 delivered. Bargain.

can I ask a couple of personal questions?

my nips seem to have a creamy coloured crust on them, never noticed it before pregnancy is it normal?

also how do you ladies with 'normal' nips cope? mine are usually inverted/flat, well until the minute I pregnant they were, now they hurt when I lay on them, when I take my bra off, when they're hit in the shower by the spray - how do you normal ladies cope with this? lol
The 'crust' is dried leaked colostrum, which is what you feed baby for the first few days before the milk comes in. It's highly nutritious and really sets them up for life in terms of antibodies etc. You can just wash it off, but take it as a sign your body is ready for baby to come and doing what it should be.

I can;t help on the pain because I've been breastfeeding DD through this pregnancy so things are different for me in that area. Mine don;t get sore, but I think they did when I was pregnant with DD.

We just bought a mattress yesterday for our family crib but it is a few centimetres too big. My grandparents assure me that it fits (it is currently at their house) but I am not convinced. I do want to use it because my grandad made it for me when I was born and it is beautiful, all hand turned wood, really amazing quality and anything I have seen in shops is no patch on it. But I won't use it if it is not right!

Ah Daisy, I think we are in the same boat! Difficult isn't it? I really do hope your parents are ok with your decisions, and maybe even support you in them.

When I questioned the size (will it fit down the side of our bed/distance of the bars etc..), instead of mum measuring & answering factually, I was shouted at that if I turn it down I'll have to let the family down myself as she couldn't handle the humiliation of me being so fussy & paranoid! Good job I can laugh about it now!

  • Hey Ladies, have you ever heard the term Natural Cesarian Birth? Maybe it's common knowledge, in which case sorry!

I hadn't until yesterday, & it was only mentioned briefly. I have just been googling & feel really inspired.

Whilst I'd like to not have a Cesarian, I realise things aren't always the way you want (I was born by emergency c section 7 weeks early). I think the first type I linked to below might be more Do-able... The 2nd might need special drugs therefore might not be available.

Are there any ladies here who are planning / expecting a section? Have your midwives / consultants spoken about these options? What do you think?

Sorry I've been AWOL for so long. I've been lurking and reading the whole time but feeling really insecure about being pg at the moment so didn't feel like posting. Sorry.

I just wanted to chip in about the mattresses for cribs/ Moses baskets. We were given both second hand and the Moses basket is very old, from OH when he was a baby. The mattresses we needed were not standard sizes and very difficult to source. We ended up ordering and sending back a couple that weren't quite right.

In the end though we did manage to find the correct size for both. The Moses basket mattress we got from eBay as it was the only place we could get the right one. I was worried about it at first but seems better quality than the one we originally bought from kiddicare thinking it'd be close enough (it wasn't!)

Just wanted to offer done reassurance that it was possible (though not particularly easy) to find mattresses for these dear old cribs and baskets.
