  • Thanks all :) am currently on the bus to the bus station, doing ok so far but am dreaming the BIG bus trip! Going to starve and drink nothing till I get to the airport and then try to get something like gatorade when I know I'm near a loo. Will phone NHS direct tomorrow if I'm not better.

Such a rubbish end to a lovely holiday!

GOOD LUCK. Seriously though get some rehydration sachets (easily bought over the counter) as you will feel better quicker and minimise any long term rubbish feelings (headaches, dizziness) due to dehydration. You dissolve them in normal water. They taste quite gross but worth the investment of drinking them.

For those asking about washing new clothes, people say that there will be chemical residue on them from the manufacturing process and also if they aren't in packets a lot of warehouses have vermin that may have gone over them. Plus it's cute washing little people clothes and seeing them hung up to dry :p although I'm sure the novelty will wear off when baby is here haha :D .

I dunno if I'm the most evil mother in the world but I'm not washing all mine. iv washed quite a few vests and sleep suits and it was lovely to see them out on the line but they no longer look new and they're not very soft anymore! iv done a lot of googling on it and it seems to be really split between people saying stuff like 'oh yeah you HAVE to do it, they're covered in nasty chemicals' to the other half of people saying 'I never washed mine and my baby was absolutely fine' so I guess make your own mind up! iv done the vests and sleep suits because that's what she'll be in when she's brand new :)

I was given a load of newborn baby vests and baby grows today, I've not got anything in this size so I'm sure they will be handy. They're the first things we've been given clothes wise which are second hand.
my sister has also been getting excited and buying for us, she's determined that my little girl will have a bit of pink in her life so has bought her a pink flower play mat, and a light/musical thing for night time feeds, she swore by hers. She's also bought me a Winnie the Pooh baby bath as I bought one for her when she was pregnant with her first, a box of baby wipes and a starter pack of baby bottles/food as she knows I keep getting a bit worried about whether our hospital will provide formula, or will change their minds. That was her practical, lovely hubby's idea.
Had a chat with them both last night and was given instructions that I'm not allowed to do anything today, though was given a special dispensation to go to knitting circle, and my sister is coming tomorrow to help finish clearing the craft room. She's also volunteers her hubby and sons to come over and help (kick) hubby into doing some of the jobs which need to be done. I've also been given instructions that if work don't help me more, become more flexible I've got to go to the doctor and get signed off, a/ for my own mental health, but also b/ to give them a kick that they really need to help me and have a duty of care towards me. I've only ever been off sick once in my life for more than a few days and that's when I had surgery 2 years ago so it's going to be hard to go and ask for help but I know they're right, I'm on the brink of a breakdown at the moment in all honesty.
sorry for the whinge again, I'm not usually such a party pooper.
hope you're all enjoying the slightly cooler weather.

Your sister sounds a star and I agree with her about work, you and baby need to take priority and legally work cannot penalise you. X

Thing is, just because someone else's baby was fine (and what does fine mean anyway? not seriously ill? not dead? just a little bit ill?) you don;t know that yours will be, and it is a fact that clothes in factories are far from clean, and are harbouring germs, chemicals and other nasties you really don;t want next to pristine newborn skin.

I definitely wash all new things, in non-bio, because I don't want to take any chances with my precious newborn.

EDIT - not meant to sound judgemantal! I hope it doesn't. I'm just explaining my train of thought on this. :)

    Welcome to daisy

I'm not managing to keep up with all the chat, sorry, think my brain is fried.

I've been getting pain in the front of my foof/lady parts/ probably the proper word is pubis and I think it is SPD :( It happens when I move my legs apart like to get in the car, and was awful at yoga on Thursday in some of the poses, but seems to have got better since yoga so I'm going to try and do some poses every day to ease it.

Anyone else got SPD? What do you do to ease it?

Oh and I got a pregnancy yoga book by Janet Balaskas (active birth lady) from the library and there are things for breech babies and back to back babies, so if anyone wants to know the poses recommended for turning babies let me know :)

I have washed all ours (some new, some second hand some from DS) with the new stuff alot smells chemically and also feels stiff. Anything I am unsure sizewise I leave and if/when needed will wash if not will return.

I loved washing the baby stuff, it really made it feel real somehow. So cute to see the little things on the line! Great pic Sunshine :) Your due date tomorrow - yay.

Lemon Tree, I'm so glad you've got lovely family to support you. I echo other people's comments on your work situation. (((Hugs)))

Sorry to hear about your SPD, Skint.
