Oh wow Sophiasmum - huge congratulations on the birth of little Erin. :j :j Glad to hear it was a straightforward and short labour. Hope you are all relaxing together in the birth centre.
Fiery and Moonbabe I'm certainly feeling quite anxious now - both about the birth and the rollercoaster that comes next. Am sure it's also late pregnancy hormones too... I have been getting quite cross for no reason which is not really my usual personality. I'm sure it's really hard to know what the 'right' thing is to do Moonbabe - perhaps the problem is that there really is no right thing. It sounds like you aren't comfortable with the ECV, and it's your body so your right to make that decision. An elective c-section can be a good birth too. Even with a head first presentation and a natural birth it's always possible you might have needed a cs anyway - as with any birth. Thank you Lara - the last bit of pregnancy really is an overwhelming life changing time isn't it! You have hit the nail on the head - there is no right thing to do - as I can't be certain of the outcome of any of the options! Keep saying to my husband that I wish they almost didn't give you a choice!Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0

Congrats sophiasmum, such a lovely name x
I have been so focused on buying things for our PFB that I totally forgot about myself! Oh well I still have lots of time I am 25 weeks today0 -
aw moonbabe, I'm not surprised you feel overwhelmed, it is a big decision to make I would feel the same in that I wish somebody would just tell me what to do. just for the record if my baby was breach I don't think I would go for the ECV either, i just don't fancy it and would go for the elective section. easier for me to say though as im not in that position yet!
Lara I feel the same about hormones I think! yesterday I was getting irritated by the smallest little things (like the cushions not being straight on the couch!) and today I feel like I could burst into tears at any minute over nothing! ahh the joys.0 -
Hi moonbabe, I have no advice for you, I just want to let you know you are not alone. I have my growth scan/breech baby/low placenta scan today. I'm pretty sure the baby is still breech so I will be in the same dilemma as you I'm sure. Whatever decision you make will be right for you.
I'm not sure what I am going to do, the baby is unlikely to move on her own now as I am 35+5. Personally I 'think' I might try the evc if it comes to it, but that is more based on the recovery of a c section with 2 toddlers at home.....
Congratulations to all the new mums! I always love a nice birth announcement! :-)0 -
Hi moon babe. Just to say my last baby was breech. I did go for an ECV because I was keen to have a natural birth and avoid a c section (we live in the countryside so I would be quite isolated if I couldnt drive). The hospital where I had it was very good, they did about 5/week so I was confident in te consultant who did it. It was quite painful but it was successful and I'm glad I did it.
I also tried moxibustion (an acupuncture technique) before the ECV which is meant to be quite effective but didn't work for me.0 -
sorry i cant offer much advice to anyone as this will be my first baby, but I understand the feeling for wanting someone else to make the decision for you - I would be exactly the same! Hugs to you all :-)
I had my 28 wk mv apt yesterday. Veins collapsed when giving blood so they had to try both arms! Thankfully I didnt faint but OH was there to offer words of encouragement (in his own special way of course)
I am measuring over 2 weeks behind, so I have a growth scan with a consultant next week to make sure everything is ok (fingers crossed). The MW did explain its precautionary & if I didnt intend to go the MLU they would not have sent me for a growth scan at this stage (hope that makes sense). If there are any issues with me or baby then I will have no option but to go the 2nd choice hospital.0 -
Congratulations Sophiasmum!
DH randomly asked me this morning if I thought I'd be able to eat apricot flapjack during labour to help give a slow energy release. I told him that I was intending baby to pop out in about 15 mins this time, so wouldn't need itAnyway, while I suspect that eating in labour would probably make me throw up (it did last time) I will be very happy to eat a stack of homemade flapjack afterwards. I can just imagine it though: Me: aargh another contraction. DH: just hang on a minute, I need to go and get the flapjack out of the oven.
Sorry to hear about your dilemma Moonbabe, I don't have any useful suggestions but if you make a decision and feel unhappy about it then it's definitely worth re-looking at the other options. But whatever you decide to do, you'll never know whether 'option x' would have worked better than 'option y', it's really just a question of trying to work out what you feel most comfortable with.
Still feeling rubbish thanks to my cold, but having to keep going as there's a deadline coming up on Monday, and missing it isn't an option! Just popped on here to give my brain a break, then back on with the work.0 -
oh & congrats sophiasmum! :j
also a friend recommended using night time sanitary towels rather than maternity pads but i guess its down to personal preference.0 -
Thank you everyone, always helps getting other peoples perspectives on things!
Have managed to get an appointment with the hospital tomorrow just to further discuss the ECV as the consultant yesterday didn't tell me a lot about it. Hopefully once I know more I will feel more confident in whatever decision I make!Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0
