skintchick that sounds horrendous! You must have been so scared! I'm glad there was nothing wrong, but it does sound very unusual. I'm glad you and baby are ok
Vickyvics Congratulations on little Olivia! She sounds delightful! we were all beginning to worry about you, so glad it all went well! xx :j
As for me, our little angel Lyra Evangeline arrived yesterday morning at 7:58am after an 18 minute labour! I had some contractions and started being sick, so sat on the loo to lean into the sink to be sick and got an almighty contraction and realised I was pushing!
I put my hand "down there" and felt what I thought was her head, so shouted at my husband for an ambulance. The operator said I had to lie down so I lay on the bathroom floor with my legs up while my husband tried to hold her in but I was pushing and was terrified! It was so painful and I was scared she was going to be born any minute!
The paramedics arrived at 7:48 - thankfully they brought gas and air - and she was born at 7:58 still in the sac. They had to cut the sac open and the waters gushed out, she'd pooed in the waters and wasn't breathing so they had to resucitate her but thankfully she responded very quickly and didn't seem to have swallowed any.
We were taken to hospital and were there for monitoring until about 9pm last night, she's all good and hadn't swallowed any poo so she just had all her checks and they discharged us.
she is very hungry though, constantly on the breast but she's just delightful! she's the spitting image of our son and I have bonded with her straight away, I'm so pleased she's ok
Our son was in the living room while we waited for a friend's husband to collect him but he pretty much heard everything!0 -
Just lurking out of noseyness - congratulations to all who have had recent arrivals and labour vibes to anyone overdue/on the verge of going over
marywooyeah I also wanted to say a huge congratulations to you on the birth of Lyra Evangeline. Such a beautiful name, are you/OH a Northern Lights/Philip Pullman fan?Sounds like labour was certainly an experience and once she decided she was ready she didn't want to wait a minute longer to meet her amazing mum. We are rarely tasked with things that take more than we have inside us even if our strength seems hidden at the time and with such a brilliant bond you are sure to be a pair of truely amazing women

Wow Mary that was eventful! Huge congratulations
I am so glad that Lyra made her way into the world eventually. Glad you are all well.
Congrats VickyVicks on the birth of baby Olivia!! Sounds like a great birth.
Skintchick ((((hugs)))) that must have been so scary - fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly now.
Sorry you're not feeling great MrsMuffin, I hope the GD gets sorted soon.
We had our 36 week risk assessment at the birthing centre this morning. It was really nice. So far I have passed and am booked in, but I have to call with my blood results next week. She mentioned the 10 haemoglobin cut off point but said if I'm below they'd look to get it stabilised at least or up the prescription. There was no mention of me being refused access which was great.
Although I did get told off for bad posture!! The baby is engaged now which is goodI noticed a bit more pressure down there for the last few days. Got to get that hospital bag packed now.
Hugs to all xx:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
vickyvics & Mary, congratulations on the safe and fast arrival of your little girls, and what pretty names :-)
Lara44 sounds promising for the birthing centre
skintchick - how frightening hope there are no more bleeds.Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Congratulations Mary, glad she never kept you waiting to long! I bet you could have done with extra time! I think its meant to be lucky if the baby is born in the sac? Like Vickyvics! Really pleased for you and that you've bonded well.
Glad your assessment went well Lara. fingers crossed you get the birth you want.
Welcome to all the newbies.

Oh how fantastic Mary!! Congratulations on your daughter!! Sounds like an, erm, experience!! But glad there were no isses and that your bond is so strong already. I'll update the list shortly, even if it will make me top 10 *OMGOMGOMG*
I've had a chilled day making cards and sewing, put about 5 washes on too trying to get ahead while the sun is out!0 -
massive congratulations vickyvics and marywooyeah x
Hugs skintchick for your scare but glad bubs seems to be fine and that they are taking good care of you x
Hugs for the chocolate hiatus Mrsmuffin it truly sucks! I got diagnosed with GD almost 3 weeks ago now and so far I'm managing on diet but I'm such a chocoholic it's really painful to avoid it! It's so annoying that all the usual comfort foods are off limits.
This little lady of mine has learnt some new tricks over the past few days. On a couple of occasions something has been poking out, I'm guessing a foot? It's so odd as I can feel it then when I press gently she moves it away!
I finally threw out (almost) all my positive pregnancy tests today, I think I kept hold of them as a bit of a comfort blanket but starting to feel like it's really real. I suppose it took me long enough! I kept my 3 first response ones that showed progression as that was my first clue that this was going to be third time lucky and not like the other times. I just can't wait to meet her now!
Hugs to all

Congratulations vickyvics and mary
That must have been quite a scare skintchick, glad that everything is OK.
I'd managed to avoid catching a cold for a while, but DS bought one home from the childminders on Thursday, and has shared it around all of us, so I've been feeling a bit rough this weekend. I'm working tomorrow, then taking Weds off, so hopefully that will give me a bit of time to get over it. Quite looking forwards to my first 'toddler free' day (DS will be at childminders)! I'm taking my leave this year as 1-2 days off a week though summer. Not sure how good I am at relaxing though. I suspect the house will be spotless before the baby arrives...0 -
