yep - Im having a relax watching rubbish daytime TV...I reckon it must be the way baby is lying... Im not seeing a midwife now until Im 39 +5 (last saw at 37)so not got any appts coming up really..My midwife is actually on holiday so Ive got to go to the birth centre for my next appt.

Sunshine - glad to hear that chocolate tops the pain strategy list!! As I cant have wine - it will have to do. Though I did go into labour after eating a dominoes pizza and having a mini bottle of wine on my last pregnancy :) (I figured she was fully cooked at 40 +2)
  • Thanks for adding me to the list sunshine.

I have finally had to admit defeat and move into maternity leggings- I have pretty much lived in leggings one size up from my pre- pregnancy since since I was about 10 weeks. I ordered a few pairs from asda, and they are soooooo comfy... I am quite lucky with work that I don't have to wear business dress, so it's leggings and tunics/ dresses for me most days.

hope it gets better sophiasmum! do you have a birthing ball? iv heard it can relieve back ache sitting on one of those but I guess if the baby's lying on a nerve then it won't do much!

I'm definitely enjoying maternity leave :o went shopping with my sister today and picked up 2 cheap nighties and knickers from primani to put in my hospital bag - they're so different from what I'd usually buy that I found it quite hard haha but I thought well they'll probably end up being thrown away afterwards :)

sorry it's nothing to do with the thread but iv been feeling a bit gutted these last 2 days as one of my close friends went for her 12 week scan and there was no heartbeat, but she hadn't had any symptoms or anything, no bleeding. I'm so upset for her and feel bad because we'd talked lots about what we would do with our babies, how we could have gone on holiday together etc...:( it seems worse than when I had my mc because at least I didn't even get to scan stage. anyway I'll stop bringing the thread down now!

oh no your poor friend Firey Firenze. I know what you mean - I think its awful when you have a missed miscarriage :( at least I knew before the scan. What a shock.

I haven't got a birthing ball - never really used it with my others and ended up throwing it! Am hoping it will stop after a few days like when I had this pain previously. Need to go and get measured for nursing bras tomorrow so need to get up and about! & yep - youll throw those nighties away!!
  • I'm 32+4 today and have had another growth scan and consultant appointments with the diabetic clinic and the high risk due to previous complications clinic (can't remember the actual name of the clinic) this morning.
Baby's tummy is still larger than it should be, which is to be expected with gestational diabetes but is still within normal range (only just) and growth is tracking in a line, so everything is looking ok for now, and they are happy the diabetes is under control. I've only put on 0.2kg in the last 4 weeks so my BMI is still low enough to keep me on track for a waterbirth. She is estimated to weigh 4lbs 6oz at the present moment.
Next scan and consultant appointments are at 36+4.

welcome to all the ladies who have recently joined the thread.

hope you are enjoying your maternity leave sunshine. Hope you manage to get the agreement to use the birth centre.

hope your back improves sophiasmum. I feel your pain, mine's started to go now, but it's worse at work so I think it's the chair as it improved slightly when I was on leave last week. It feels like a trapped nerve low down on the left hand side, but it's nowhere near as bad as in my first pregnancy.
I've found swimming helps this time round, although in my last pregnancy swimming was really painful.

sorry to hear you're having a difficult time scotsbride, can the doctor not refer you for physio?

hope you are enjoying maternity leave and that the whooping cough jab went ok firey. I couldn't lie on that arm for a week after mine but the actual jab wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!
sorry to hear about your friend, hope she is getting lots of love and support.

ndg - lovely picture of your boys. Isaac looks like a natural holding baby!

glad you got to see prince mary, shame little lady is now keeping you waiting!

hope you feel better soon robots, and that your mum doesn't cause you too much more stress.

hope you manage to get rid of your shed and get your washing line before baby comes Lara.

glad you enjoyed your holiday skintchick.

I've been having quite painful braxton hicks the last few days, but I know from the scan that baby isn't even engaged yet, so no point getting excited! Also, I had this for weeks with DS and he had no intention of coming out, even after being induced :rotfl: I'm still really enoying being pregnant, as it could be the last time I ever am. Can't believe it will all be over in a few weeks and that I'm number 24 on the list already!

LOVE maternity leggings anyname... I had them from asda and next do good ones too.

I had never heard of a missed miscarriage before I joined the 'less than 12 weeks pregnant club' all those months ago, but it seems so common and I'm thankful every day that this is my very first pregnancy and it has gone without issue. So sad for your friend firey I can't imagine what they're going through x

On a positive note glad you are enjoying mat leave! (I got primarni nighties too, just two oversized 'normal' ones but then found maternity ones so bought one of those too - I never knew they did maternity stuff but they had it in Manchester city centre!) I finished last week too but not had the chance to be a 'lady of leisure' yet. Since last friday my days have been full of a hospital appointment, shopping, antenatal classes, cleaning and essay writing! Tomorrow I'm out all day doing my last teaching session and getting signed off at uni, then I'm getting my car serviced and seeing the midwife! Then I'll try and chill a bit, but with a baby shopping list still outstanding, an exam on 5th June and an essay due in the day after I'm due I can see these next couple of weeks flying by - I must be in the minority in that I don't want this baby to come early!! Hopefully he will stay put despite the fact sometimes it feels like he's trying to break out of my belly button! xx

Hi ladies, hoping I can join. I'm 26 weeks and due 24th august and we are team yellow. I've been reading a while and have taken the plunge in posting.
I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself as have had a nasty bout of gastroenteritis which is not much fun while pregnant, I had to take myself to the Hospital so they could check little Flipper wasn't planning on coming out early. Hooked up to all the monitors put the frighteners on but baby is all ok. So I'm reading while curled in bed trying to keep a rice cake down.

Hope everyone is well. Thank for reading

    Hi Everyone,

I'm back finally. We now have internet in our new house so trying to catch up on all the posts. Congratulations on any births I've missed and welcome to the the newbies.

My SPD seems to be getting better and I have a physio appointment next week so will see what they say. Also got my 28 week midwife appointment next week and got to have the whooping cough vaccine too.

Out of interest how long are most people working up until? I'm 28 weeks Saturday and will then have 7 weeks left, however I'm a nurse and already starting to struggle, just wondering what others did/doing?

    Hope everyone's well?
