Aww that is lovely sunshine :).

I think the pregnancy tiredness is kicking in, wish I could have gone straight to bed this eve! We're packing for a weekend of camping, I'm not entirely convinced looking at the forecast but luckily we aren't far from home so can head back if it gets too wet!! Wish I had waterproofs that would go over my bump!!

I mustn't be intelligent enough to fully 'get' the issue... is it basically about them trying to sell their baby milk products over breastmilk? It's a sticky one... I spent a year in East Africa at an orphanage and for orphaned and abandoned babies Nestle's Lactogen was all we could get hold of (at extortionate costs I might add) and that effectively saved their lives. It was run by an English couple so they could ensure the water and equipment used was sanitary. Hmmm it's a bit of a sticky one...

No, it's about their marekting techniques and how they give free samples to mothers who then use it, their own milk dries up, then they have to buy formula they canot afford and in so they water it down, dangerously, and in some cases make it with dirty water which is all they have. And they don;t care that the babies die as long as they make money.

This is from the link I posted:Nestl! is the target of a boycott because it contributes to the unnecessary death and suffering of infants around the world by aggressively marketing baby foods in breach of international marketing standards. Even Nestl!’s Public Affairs Manager acknowledges the boycott has widespread support.
The World Health Assembly has adopted marketing requirements for baby foods to protect breastfeeding and to ensure breastmilk substitutes are used safely if necessary. As UNICEF has said:
“Marketing practices that undermine breastfeeding are potentially hazardous wherever they are pursued: in the developing world, WHO estimates that some 1.5 million children die each year because they are not adequately breastfed. These facts are not in dispute.”
Although Nestl! does dispute the facts. See our briefing on Nestl! for the current situation, with images, links and references. The boycott will continue until Nestl! accepts and complies with Baby Milk Action’s four-point plan for saving infant lives and ultimately ending the boycott.
Nestl! is singled out for boycott action as monitoring shows it to be responsible for more violations of the requirements than any other company. The boycott helps to stop some of the specific cases of malpractice we expose and has forced some changes in policy (see some examples here). But Nestl! continues systematic violations in those countries which have not yet brought in independently monitored and enforced legislation implementing the marketing requirements, which is another part of our strategy for protecting infant health and mothers’ rights.

It's not about them simply selling it, it's about their deliberate and unethical praactices that result in baby deaths. The figure above is 1.5 MILLION babies a YEAR. For me, that's enough for me to forgo Nestle products (which actually are mostly easily replaceable).

Supporting the boycott is not to do with saying formula shouldn;t be available, it's about not pushing it onto women who would be much better off breastfeeding, because of water conditions and financial restraints that mean they cannot make up the formula safely. In some cases, the rest of the family goes without basics like food in order to buy the expensive formula, when breastmilk is free, and they would have been far better off breastfeeding

    Good evening ladies.
Sorry I've not been about much, went in for induction on Friday night and my wee munchkin arrived by emergency section on Sunday night. She was indeed team pink and weighed 7lbs 4 oz.
Needless to say we are all delighted with her. Tinypic doesn't seem to be uploading pics just now though, will try again later :(

    gemguin hello, welcome and congratulations!

mrshappy she is absolutely gorgeous! I hope everything went well and that you are settling in with your new addition :)

sunshine I LOVE the reason behind your baby's nickname! that is so lovely, your little heartbeat! imagine when baby arrives, you'll be able to put your head to their little chest and hear their little heartbeat for real! :)

I've been trying to get on here for a couple of days but it kept timing out - has the forum been down or something?!

AFM I had my sweep today and was told that everything was "lovely", that I was 1-2cm dilated and thinning out.

The midwife booked me for induction on 25th. I declined it and she said I could just go to talk to someone instead of being induced. She did however say she wouldn't be surprised if I already delivered before then.

Well, we were watching tv about an hour ago and I burst out laughing at something, and suddenly felt all wet! I've had my show now, my back really hurts and so it seems that my labour has started! I'm quite nervous, and it seems I might have to have her here as our son is asleep upstairs and it wouldn't be fair to drag him out of bed in the middle of the night.

    wish me luck! xxx

thanks skintchick! I feel very nervous though!

I bought her a cuddly My little pony today - it's sitting in her crib ready for her along with all her other toys. We have everything ready, just waiting for her now!

I can't wait to meet her, I feel ready for her now, I just hope I can be the mummy she needs me to be!

I must be very early on, no proper contractions yet but with my son I was 8 hours 15minutes start to finish, so I could well have her in the night. I'll keep you all updated! x
