Firey, I always thought I had a low pain threshold until labour. I was 4cm when we went into hospital and hadn't realised I was having contractions. Also I only remember one really intense moment of pain right before baby arrived - and that was forgotten at the time as baby was in my arms.
I am sure you will be fine....and don't be a martyr, and for pain relief if you feel you need it.
Any news from NDG?
AFM we had a growth scan on Friday as my bump was measuring big, turns out I have excess fluid around baba and he has a big tummy. After leaving me stunned and an emotional wreck in the waiting area for 30mins they sent me to ADAU who left me sitting around with no idea who or what I was waiting on. Eventually a dr came and has arranged a further scan GTT and a consultant appt next week. They also took bloods to do a TORCH test and dr rang last night to say my blood contained antibodies of the virus CMV but they don't know if I have had the infection whilst pregnant. So of course I google it and I am now scared of what may happen when baba is born. The Dr said that there were markers they looked for and they hadn't seen any of them so fingers crossed all is ok.Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. Hello Ladies,
Thought I would just send a little update.
I went into labour last night at about 9.30pm with mild cramping...in fact I was unsure whether they were even contractions. By 11pm when I came to go to sleep they had become much stronger and lying in bed was really uncomfortable never mind going to sleep and that was with my TENS machine. Roll on to this morning at 7am and I make my way into hospital (its taken my this long to get the midwifes to allow me to go in, even with Strep. They examine me to find my show has gone, I am 1cm and exhausted. They let me decide whether to stay or come home and I have decided to come home to relax with a bath in my own environment and have a nap. The bath took away some of the pain which allowed me to sleep for a little bit and rest. It also seems to have slowed me down a bit. So now I am sat here with my Tens on, timing my contractions and watching terrible daytime telly. We are getting there and it shouldn't be too long until we meet her but as the midwife said I just need a couple of big erns to get me into established labour. If I don't move further forward then I think I will be taking a bit of a walk around the park across the road from us. That is once it has stopped raining and DH has woken up from his nap. He is exhausted bless him.
fireyfirenze - I am also someone that can't handle pain but I can definitely recommend a Tens machine and a birthing ball. Chairs (even the sofa) is too painful for me to sit on at the moment but the ball is actually nearly comfortable. Also the Tens machine is helping loads. I can't explain why but it is helping me breathe through them and stay in control. x0 -
oooh good luck Vickyvics! Not too long now for you!

Vickyvics, rotating really helped me, either sitting on the birthing ball, or putting it on the bed and leaning over it. Or standing and put your hands on the wall and rotate your hips clockwise. The worst part for me was sitting/lying for examinations, and getting stuck in that position waiting for doctors :-( And remember to drink lots! Good luck! x0

Good luck VickyVics x0

Still no word from NDG - guessing she's in labour too!

How exciting vickyvics! Hope all goes smoothly for you x
Just popping on with an update about my SPD physio, the woman is a freaking genius! She said my pelvis was twisted and she moved it back into alignment and gave me a giant tubigrip for support and some exercises to do. I feel so so so much better, I'd be lying if I said the pain was totally gone but compared to how it was its a vast improvement! For those wondering if it's worth having the answer is a resounding yes from me!

purcy that sounds great - so glad to hear it's made such a difference :j
I think I might have gone into labour too! back is hurting, having contractions intermittently (although they could be braxton hicks, I hope!)
I feel "off" although I haven't had a show and my waters are still intact so if it is it's very early, but I was really hoping this wouldn't happen til Friday!
I'll keep you updated x0 -
Aww glad to hear you're getting help with SPD Purcy! The doctor at the hospital said it seems I have it, getting up from sitting is so, so painful and it takes a few minutes to be able to walk and stand straight, and turning over in bed wakes me up and takes about 10 minutes as it feels lke something between my legs is going to snap! However the midwife just dismissed it saying I will get those pains now I'm coming to the end and HB is getting heavier and therefore putting more pressure on my bits! Ah well.. 2 more days to work, am so glad to finish am just getting really tired now... 36 weeks on Sunday!
VERY excited at the prospect of a flurry of births! Hope things are moving along for you all marywooyeah, vickyvics.. and ndg! xxxxx0
