Please post your birth stories here when you have time/energy0 -
RobotsinDisguse - I am really sorry you mum has made you feel like that. Before I brought our cot I made sure I researched the different features to make sure it was completely safe. For this reason we decided not to use the 'family' cot because it had the drop down sides and brought a new one instead just in case. I think I would spend all night every night worrying she was ok sleeping in it. I am not sure how much sleep I would be getting myself for worrying. This was our personal choice. I think it is very unfair and wrong for your mum to react in the way she did. No wonder you are upset.
NDG - I am glad its all looking good for your VBAC. Shame you didn't manage to get your sweep done, although I will keep my fingers crossed for Monday.
Today we are having a relatively quiet day. DH is going to finish a tiny bit of grouting in the bathroom and installing a new blind (once we have been to the shop to buy it that is). Then it is a case of just chilling and watching various films we have waiting. I even have some fig rolls ready for the occasionI do love a fig roll.

Thank goodness it's the weekend
I'm shattered but due to holidays I've only actually worked 2 days this week! Annoyingly I seemed to have lost the ability to sleep, I just seem to spend the night rolling around as I can't lie in one position for too long without getting uncomfortable, still having the 3am loo trips, and am also getting cramp in my legs almost every night now too. I don't remember getting cramp all the time in my first pregnancy!
Only 3 weeks left at work for me, and only 6 of them are working days as I've got next week booked as holiday then just doing 3 days a week for the last 2 weeks using up the rest of my annual leave, it's come round so fast.
Saw the midwife this week, and there's still ketones in my urine, I've also spoken to the hospital who have told me to keep increasing the dose of my metformin until I get to the maximum (2000mg) as my blood sugars have started going high again. Got another scan a week on Tuesday to check on baby's growth,
Congratulations on the birth of William vseviour, I hope his blood results improve soon.
chelseablue I can't believe you're still working at 38 weeks and contemplating going in next week too - I don't know how you do it, my cover isn't starting until the week after I finish (at 34 weeks) but as far as I'm concerned that's work's problem not mine as they've had months to sort something out. I'm counting the days until I finish! Hope you manage to get some rest before you have your baby!
sophiasmum- we probably will buy DS a present off the baby, so he doesn't feel left out as no doubt baby will be getting lots of presents. He loves a particular TV series so we'll get a character off that for him.
Congratulations on the arrival of Evelyn sexki11en. Hope you get the BF sorted soon.
welcome to the thread credit_crunch and Disney.
Nice to hear all is going well with Chloe samtoby.
NDG - names are such a personal choice but out of your list I like Elijah, and Daniel is nice too. No so sure I'd name a child after a deceased per though!
I've found the opposite to some of you ladies with regards to comments about weight, my BMI was 39 at booking in and if I refer to myself as fat or obese (both true) the midwives tell me off. They've not been offensive at all when mentioning that it's OK for me to lose weight. My BMI is down to 35.6 now as I've lost 7kg and because I have to watch what I eat due to the gestational diabetes they've said I'll probably lose more weight. Such a contrast to first pregnancy where I put on 5 and a half stone (well technically it was only 4, but I did lose a stone and a half in the first 3 months)!
Enjoy your holiday to Portugal skintchick!
We've agreed on a name for baby but it's not set in stone, and we'll keep it a secret until she's born as we did with DS. It is similar to the name of a friend's little girl, but I don't let that put me off, there's not many girls names I like or that me and OH agree on so I'm not going to choose one I like less just because somebody else has already used it, or one similar to it!
Robots - Sorry your mum is behaving the way she is. You do what you think is right for you and your baby, irrelevant of what anyone else thinks. I still have friends and relatives disagree about some of the decisions I make for DS (nearly 3) but as I'm not one to bite my tongue I tell them they can bring their families up how they see fit and I'll do the same with mine, what's right for one family isn't necessarily right for another.
Good luck to the top 4 if I don't get to post again before you meet your little ones!
Hope everybody has a lovely weekend!0 -

I like Elijah, but we used to have a cat called that. I'm not sure of the wisdom of naming your secondborn son after your dead cat.
Sadly not - didn't quite get to the sweep stage. The midwife said the good news was that his head's pressing hard down in the right place, my cervix is short and soft and things therefore look promising for a VBAC, but that it was too far back and she couldn't actually do the sweep. So I'm going back on Monday.
Yes you're right! but we wanted him to feel included lol! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I do like Elijah, and Isaac and Elijah sound good together. At least your cats memory will live on pmsl!
good news about the cervix! hopefully things will get moving on monday then xxx
I've just had the crappiest midwife appt and left in tears. The midwife asked me why I had an appt and what did I need to be seen for, didn't I know that saturday appts were an emergency service only?
I said that I'd been phoned in the week by a support worker asking me to make an appt so I had and I've always had my appts on saturdays as I was told this was ok due to working. At no point have I ever been told that it was an "emergency" service but instead that it was an out of hours service for people who can't get to weekday appts.
She then wrote down that I was "angry and annoyed" with the maternity services and said she'd have someone ring me on monday and someone come to the house. When I asked why, she wrote down that I'd refused consent for someone to contact me and said I should come back for another appt next saturday instead.
I just didn't understand why she was writing things down which weren't reflecting what was being discussed and asked her to change the notes so that they were an accurate portrayal of the appt.
She just ignored me and spoke over me saying she'd book another appt instead and didn't change the notes at all. In the end my husband left with our son as he didn't feel that Dylan should be in the room with the midwife acting that way which I understood, but it just left me sitting there upset with no support.
I told her that she was making me upset and it was important that the notes reflected what was actually being discussed but it was obvious she didn't care and she just turned her back to me and ignored me.
When I left I asked at the reception for a number to speak to someone and luckily a nice midwife sat and spoke to me. She really listened and said she would speak to the other midwife. I really hope she does because we were going out for the day but I was so upset we've just come home and it's ruined the whole day. It's probably our last saturday all together too so I would have liked to have a nice day out with my husband and son before the baby arrives0 -
That sounds absolutely horrible, Mary! I'd write a calm, formal letter of complaint if I were you - after you have the baby, if that makes you feel happier until then?
<hugs>...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I'm not in labour - but am experiencing very uncomfortable false labour, painful Braxton-Hicks, and have had a bloody show. So it looks positive for beating the c-section back-up and having a VBAC! Crossed fingers, anyway....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

NDG - Yay for the signs. Shouldn't be too long now I would have thought. Keeping my fingers crossed xx
Marywooyeah - That sounds horrible. I would definitely consider writing a letter of complaint about it. Pregnancy is hard enough in my eyes without the midwives having a go as well!!
Samtoby - How are you and little one doing?
AFM - I haven't had my show yet, that I know of. I keep checking and crossing my fingers but it seems to be stuck right in there. I seem to get strong braxton hicks, tightenings and cramping in the evening but then it disappears some time in the night after I have fallen asleep. I tried asking the midwife what labour will feel like and where will I feel the pain, as I currently don't always know the difference between braxton hicks and contractions. The slightest flicker has me wondering whether I am going into labour. Unfortunately all she had to say was when you are in labour you will know...not very comforting for my worrying I have to say.
Hope everyone is feeling well today and has had a good nights sleep xxx0 -
There's an offer on pampers nappies on groupon at the moment, think its 74 for £9.99 if that helps anyone0
